Installation Instructions

TracKing®V5 Retrofit Kits for Precedent™

Units

Installation Procedures

IImmppoorrttaanntt:: Disconnect all power to the unit before beginning installation.

1. Disconnect all electrical connectors, power and ground wires from the SR-4 controller.

2. Hold controller in place while removing the six screws around the perimeter.

a. Place cover (423129) over controller and install the (2) retaining screws in the center and

reinstall the (6) screws around the perimeter.

b. Tighten all screws only to 20 in-lbs (2.26 N•m).

NNoottee:: Do not over tighten the screws or damage to SR-4 controller will result!

3. Reinstall all electrical connectors, power and ground studs onto controller.

4. Snap locking bar in place across the top of controller.

5. Install the 35–pin connector securely to the mating connector of TKV5 module.

a. Position TKV5 module onto studs and secure with supplied washers and nuts.

b. Torque hardware to 12 in-lbs. (1.35 Nm).

Single Temperature Units Only

1. Attach harness connectors as shown. See “See “Door Switch Connections” on page 5.

2. Bundle and secure all wires and harness neatly with band wraps.

3. Close and secure control box door.

NNoottee:: Remove the two band wraps shown to allow fused harness to reach main controller,

then install two new band wraps in the same two locations on the harness bundle.

2. Bundle and secure all wires and harness neatly with band wraps.

3. Close and secure control box door.

1. Unplug existing harness connectors from the SR-4 controller going to the door switch.

2. From the TKV5 harness, remove the block-off plug from the door switch connector and

attach connector into the harness going to the door switch.

3. Install block-off plug (removed in step 2) into harness connector coming from the SR-4.

Multiple Door Switch Connections

1. Unplug existing harness connectors from the expansion board going to the door switches.

2. From the TKV5 harness, remove the block-off plug from the door switch connectors and

attach connectors into the harness going to the door switch.

3. Multi-Temp Units built AAFFTTEERR July 2017 — Install the block-off plug (removed in step 2) into

the harness connector coming from the SR-4.

Multi-Temp Units built BBEEFFOORREE July 2017 — require additional ground harness ((442233115511)).

a. From the new ground harness, attach the (2) connectors into the two door switch

harnesses coming from the expansion board and attach the terminal ring to J200 ground

stud on the expansion board.

Installing Nameplates

1. Clean surface thoroughly and install WARNING and CONNECTED nameplates at locations

shown.

Configuration Procedures

NNoottee:: Reconnect all power to the unit.

1. With the engine off, go to Guarded Access Menu.

NNoottee:: Guarded Access Menu Is not available If the engine Is running.

2. Scroll down and select Hardware Settings

a. TK Telematics Door Switch Enable (set to Enabled).

3. The unit is now programed for door switches, press the exit key.

4. ln the TracKing website under Edit Vehicle, enable the following:

a. TK Telematics Door Switch (select check mark in box).

5. With the engine off, go to Guarded Access Menu.

NNoottee:: There are two fuel sensors settings In Guarded Access - Programmable Feature and

Hardware Settings.

6. Scroll down and select Hardware Settings.

a. Fuel Level Sensor Type (Set to None when installing fuel sensor to the controller).

b. TK Telematics Fuel Level Sensor Type (make sure it is set lo None when iBox is installed).

c. When installing fuel sensor to the TK BlueBox (Set to Solid State or Float type).

7. The unit is now programmed for fuel, press the exit key.

8. In the TracKing website under Edit Vehicle, enable the following:

a. Fuel-Tank-size value.

NNoottee:: TK BlueBox Diagnostic Manual (TK 56469) for further: formation on software setup

procedures.Diagnostic Service Cable (423001) is available for use with the Web Based

Diagnostic Program.

TracKing V5 Activation Procedures

Existing TracKing Users

If your unit wwaass previously equipped with TracKing with remote antenna, and it has now been

converted to TracKing V5 with internal antenna, once the unit is turned on it will auto-configure.

Follow the instructions below:

1. Turn unit ON.

2. www.tracking.thermoking.com

3. Verify unit is configured correctly. Adjust as needed.

4. Verify TracKing is communicating with your unit.

New TracKing Users

If your unit wwaass nnoott previously equipped with TracKing and it now has TracKing V5 installed,

you must contact a Thermo King dealer to create a TracKing account. Once the TracKing

account is setup by the dealer, you can either have the dealer assist with the activation

procedures, or follow the instructions below:

1. Turn unit ON.

2. Access www.tracking.thermoking.com.

3. Follow the instructions to activate the unit.

4. Verify unit is configured correctly. Adjust as needed.

5. Verify TracKing is communicating with your unit.
