Please read these instructions fully before starting construction.
PVA or equivalent glue will be required to stick sections together.
Sand paper can be used to gently clean any joints.
A sharp modelling knife will be required to remove sections from the sprue. Please use knives with due care and remember
to cut away from yourself at all times.
During the construction of this model, you may find it convenient to use pegs / elastic bands to hold pieces in place while
you allow glue to dry.
Note: Due to their size / thickness certain parts on this kit are very fragile. Please use extreme care when working with
them to prevent damage.
Remove the pieces shown above from the sprue.
Glue the piece with the cross in it between the two
supports. Note the direction of the arrow on the
picture.
Glue this assembly to the two long supports with
the arrow pointing towards the long end of the
supports.
Add the third cross piece at the back.
Take these pieces from the sprue.
Glue them into position as shown. The arrow faces
the long end of the supports.
The chimney is formed from the pieces shown
above.
Use the three pieces at the top to form an “X”
section. The lug at one end is 4mm, the lug at the
other end is 2mm.
Glue one of the circular sections to the 4mm lug,
followed by the base.
Attach the four long strips into the holes.
Add the other circular section to hold it all
together, then glue the circle on top.
Take the pieces of the rudder.
Glue the two ovals and the rectangle to the
central spur as shown above.
Add the frame to each side.
Then glue the two hinges into position.
At this point we suggest you paint the sections of
your model before continuing.

Glue the under-deck structures to the underside
of the deck.
The lower portion of the engine is formed from the
pieces shown above.
Glue the two end pieces into place.
Attach the strips.
The top of the engine is made from these pieces.
Attach the end pieces (note – the one with the hole
is at the back of the model)
Add the sides.
Then glue the strips into place.
The wheelhouse is made from these pieces.
Glue them together to form a “C” shape with the
etched detail on the outside.
Glue the wheelhouse to the deck.
The ships wheel is formed from these pieces.
Glue them together…
..then attach them into the hole inside the
wheelhouse.
Take the rudder and its support.
Attach the support the lug.
Then glue the assembly into the hold in the back
of the engine.
Some of the rail supports.
Work around the model, adding the rail supports
into the notches.
FRAGILE: Ensure they are square on to the notch
they will go into then gently apply pressure to the
back of them at “notch level”.
Note: You will need to trim the bottom off the claw
in order to make two of the uprights fit correctly
towards the rear of each side of the model.
Add the rails to the top of the supports.
FRAGILE: Gently ease the top of each support into
position.
Glue the chimney into place.
If you want it flush to the engine, you’ll need to
trim the rear corners of its base.
The finished model.
Painting
We sprayed the under-deck structures, rudder, deckhouse pieces and chimney with a white car undercoat / primer.
We manually painted the underside of the deck (apart from the engine section), sides and top edge with white DIY
emulsion paint.
The upper rails, rail supports and rudder support were sprayed black (car undercoat)
Any other “metal” areas were manually painted black.
Once dry, all “metal” areas were dry brushed with a gold colour.
The top of the rudder and chimney were painted red.
The ovals inside the rudder were painted ice blue.
The flight stand had its protective film removed before the two pieces were slotted together and glued into the base.
