notbeused.Iftheuserhasextensiontelephonescareshouldbetakentoensure

thatthesearealsoconnectedviatheRea

hPlus TEL socket. Failuretoconnecttheuser’stelephones

asdescribedabovemaycausedifficultieswithalarmcalls



AlltelephoneequipmenthasaRingerEquivalenceNumber(REN)whichisusedtocalculatethenumberofitemsthat

canbeconnectedtoasingletelephoneline.ARENof4isthemaximumallowedonastandardUKtelephoneline‐the

ReachPlushasaRENof1.IftheRENtotalofallequipmentconnectedtoatelephonelineexceeds4theequipment

maynotoperatecorrectly.Withdifferenttypesofequipmentthereisnoguaranteeofcorrectoperationevenifthe

RENislessthan4.Typically,1or2standardtelephones(REN1)canbeusedwiththeRea

hPlus.



WheninstallingaReachPlusunitensureallradiotriggerdevicesincludingthosethatmayhavebeenpreviously

installede.g.smokedetectors,PIR'setc.areregisteredwiththeReachPlusunit.Oncecompleteatestcallshouldbe

raisedfromeachtriggerdevicetotheARCentretoensureitisreceivedandthetriggerdeviceiscorrectlyidentified.



Avoidusingharsh,abrasiveorcorrosivecleaningagentsordetergents(e.g.scouringpowders,bleaches,polishes,etc.)

whencleaningtheReachPlusorTouchPendant.



YoucandusttheReachPlusorTouchPendantwithasoftclothorsoftbrush.Forparticularlysoiledunitswipeclean

withadampclothandanon‐abrasivecleaningproduct,polishwithadryduster.

DONOTuseawetclothontheReachPlusunit.



TheReachPlusunitincludesdelicateelectronics–toallowwatertocomeintocontactwithitisdangerousandmay

causedamage.Iftheunitdoesgetwet;un‐plugitfromthemainssupplyandswitchoffimmediately,thencontactyour

ServiceProviderbeforeattemptingtore‐useit.



TheReachPlusandTouchPendantbothcontainbatteriesandshouldthereforenotbedisposedofindomesticwaste.

TheTouchpendantisalifesavingdevice;remembertoadvisetheusertowearitatalltimesandtokeep

itbytheirbedatnight.



TheTouchpendantissuppliedwithakitofpartssoitcanbewornaroundtheneck,clippedontoabelt

orpocket,oronthewristlikeawatch.



1.UnplugtheusersTelephonefromtheBTwallsocketandplugitintotheReachPlusTELsocket.If

theuserhasaDECTcordlesstelephone,extensiontelephonesocketsinotherroomsorBroadbandsee

sections1.1,1.5and1.6formoreinformation.



2.ConnecttheTelecomLeadbetweentheReachPlusC/OsocketandtheBTwallsocket(wherethe

userstelephonewasoriginallypluggedin).



3.ConnectthePowerLeadbetweentheReachPlusSUPPLYsocketandthemainssupply.



4.TheDATAsocketisonlyusedforfirmwareupgradesorfortheconnectionofhardwiredinputs

suchasceilingpullcords,seesection2.3.3formoredetails.



5.Choosetheconnectorcoveriftheunitisbeingplacedflatonthetableorthestandifitisbeing

placedintheuprightposition.Itcanalsobewallmountedusingthekeyholesontherear.Atemplate

isprovidedonthecartonflaptomarkthewallbeforedrilling(wallplugsandscrewsnotincluded).


