4 PreInstallationChecklist
Thepreinstallchecklistisnecessarytochecktheexistingsprayerfunctionalitybeforetheinstallation.
1. Unfoldthesprayeroveraflat,unobstructedarea(i.e.nopowerlines…etc.).
2. Ensureallboomfoldoperationsarefunctional(placeacheckmarkinboxesbelow).
3. BringenginetofieldoperationalRPMandrecordbelow.
4. Record the time (seconds) it takes for a full stroke for all boom functions.To ensure repeatable
measurements,taketheaverageof3trials.
5. NotallsprayerswillhavethefunctionslistedbelowinFigure2.
Ensuretheboomhassufficienttravelsoitdoesnotcontactthegroundduringthesetests.

5 UltrasonicSens orInstallation
5.1. UltrasonicSensorSerialNumberArrangement
TheMAXSensors™(E07)aremountedintheouterwingpositionswiththe lowestserialnumberontheleftside
andthehighestserialnumberontherightside.
Eachsensorhasaserialnumberstampedonthesensorhousing.
ApplyalightcoatingofthesuppliedPermatexAntiseizegreasetoallthreadedpartsuponinstallation.

5.2. UltrasonicSensorMountingGuidelines
Thefollowingguidelineswillensureoptimalsensorperformanceandpreventsensormeasurement.
1. Initslowestposition,thesensormustbe9inches(230mm)ormorefromtheground.
2. Ensurethattherearenoobstructionswithina12inch(300mm)diametercircleprojecteddirectlybelow
thecenterof
thesensor.
3. Thesensorshouldbeapproximatelyverticalatnormaloperatingheights.

5.3. LowProfileBracketMountingGuidelines
1. Minimizethe distance betweenthe bolts topreventbendingthe bracket andpreventthe bracket from
looseningovertime.
2. Ensurethebracketismountedtightagainstthe bottomoftheboom,minimizingthedistancebetweenthe
boomstructureandtheangledflange.
Aproblemcanariseifa
sensorisnotmountedcorrectly.Thismayonlybecomeapparentoncethecontrol
systemisswitchedfromsoiltocrop mode.
Becarefulthatthesensorbracketdoesnotcollidewithanyotherpartoftheboomwhentheboomisfolded
totransportposition.Ifpossible,mountthesensorbracketswhiletheboomsarefoldedtoensuretheywill
notcauseinterference.

5.4. RainflapInstallation
Rainflapsareonlyinstalledifthesensorfacewillbepointingupwhentheboomsarefolded.
1. Insertonesideoftherainflaprodintotheprebenthingetabonthesensorbracket.(Figure6)

3. Bendthehingetabinwardovertherainflaproduntilthehingetabfitssecurelyinthedetentgrooveon

4. Ensuretherainflapactuatessmoothlywhenthebracketisturnedupsidedownandreturnstotheopen
positionwhenthe sensorbracketisreturnedtoitsoperatingposition(sensorpointingdownwardstoward
theground).

5.5. WingSensorInstallation
1. Thesensorbracketshouldbeorientedforward(aheadoftheboom).
2. Typically,thebestmountinglocationfor thewingsensorbracketswillbe neartheendoftheboomtips,
approximatelytwofeet(0.6m)fromtheend.
3. Mount the sensor into the sensor bracket.Run the sensor
cable through hole and behind the bracket.
Ensurethecableisclearofmovingpartsandwillnotbedamagedduringfolding.
 

6 ElectronicInstallation
6.1. HCM1Installation
1. InstalltheHCM1(E01)ontheboomnearthevalveblockwith thelargelabelandLEDsfacingup.Secure
withcableties.

2. Insert4pinplugs(P01)intoanyunusedconnectorsontheHCM1.
The interface cables (C14 and C15) are ordered separately from this kit.Please refer to the UC7™ Cable
OrderingGuide(P/N:UC7BCCABLEGUIDE)forcableorderinginformation(availableatwww.norac.ca).
3. Connectthe4pinconnectorsoncableC14totheHCM1.TeetheconnectorsoncableC14
intotheleft
up,leftdown,rightup,andrightdownfunctions.
4. Connectthe4pinconnectorsoncableC15totheHCM1.TeetheconnectorsoncableC15intothemain
up,maindown,andbypassfunctions.
Ensurethatallunusedconnectorsarepluggedwiththeplugsprovided.
Thebatterycable(C30)isorderedseparatelyfromthiskit.PleaserefertotheUC7CableOrderingGuide(P/N:
UC7BCCABLEGUIDE)forcableorderinginformation(availableatwww.norac.ca).

1. Fastenthe8 way couplertotheboomwithcableties.ConnectcableC02betweenthe8waycoupler(E11)
andthe6pinNORACbusconnectorontheHCM1.

3. At the sensor brackets, attach a 2way coupler with terminator (E20) to the sprayer boom.The 2way
couplerwithterminatoristhewhite2waycoupler.PlugthesensorandtheCANbuscableintothe2way
coupler.
4. Insertthe6pinplugs(P03)intotheremainingreceptaclesofthe8waycoupler.

7 SoftwareSetup
1. Startupthesprayerandtestthesprayer’sfunctionality.Thedisplayterminaldoesnotneedtobepowered
onfortheoriginalboomfunctionswitchestooperate.Unfoldtheboomsandraise/lowereachboomand
themainsection.
Confirmthatthecablingandhosesdonotpinch,stretchorbindovertheentirerangeofmotion.
2. Ifanyfunctionsdonotwork,reviewthehydraulicandelectricalportionsofthismanualtocheckforproper
installation.
3. Turnonthepowerforthedisplayterminalusingtheswitchontheside.
4. TheprocedurefortheinstallationoftheUC7™BoomHeightControlsystemisnowcomplete.Beginthe
Automatic System Setup procedure as described in the UC7 Technical Operation Manual for Standard
Control.

