EachTS1sensorcontainsa3axis360°sensorelementwhichmustbeconfigureddependingonthe
mountingposition.TheTS1TiltSensorscanbe mountedinmanyorientationsaslongastheyareparallel
totheaxisbeingmeasured(Figure12).Locatesurfacesthatprotectthesensorfromphysicaldamageand
areconvenientforcablerouting.Whenthepositionoftheimplementisatzerodegrees(horizontal),
makeanoteofthedirectionofthearrowmarkeronthesensornameplate.Thisdirectionisneeded
duringcalibration.Thecalibrationprocessuses3DMCtoenterdirection,orientation,andothersensor
variables.

EachTSi3sensorcontainsasingleordualaxissensorelement,andwillbedifferentdependingon
wheretheyaremounted.Sensorsmountedonthestick,boomandbucketaresingleaxis,andareonly
mountedinaleftorrightorientation.Thesensormountedonthebodyisdualaxis,andismounted
onlywithaleft,right,orflatorientation.
Wheninstallingthesensors,ensurethattheyaremountedparalleltotheaxisbeingmeasuredwith
thedirectionarrowpointingawayfromthecab(
Figure13).Locatesurfacesthatprotectthesensor
fromphysicaldamageandareconvenientforcablerouting.Whenthepositionoftheimplementisat
zerodegrees(horizontal),makeanoteofthedirectionofthearrowmarkerontheseriallabel(located
onthetopofthesensor).Thisdirectionisneededduringcalibration.Thecalibrationprocessuses3D
MCtoenterdirection,orientation,andothersensorvariables.

Thebucketsensoristhemostchallengingsensortomounttokeepthesensorandcablesprotected.
Theeasiestandmostaccuratelocationtomountthesensorisonthetopleftsideofthebucket
fromthecabperspective—withthearrowpointingforward(towardthedirectionoftravel).The
safest,butlessaccurate,locationtomountthesensorisontheleftsideofthedogbone;see“Dog
boneSensorMounting(Optional)”onpage12.
Whenmountingthebucketsensor,keepthefollowinginmind(Figure14):
Positionthebucketatzerodegreesbeforemountingthesensor.
Sensororientation(Up/Forward,etc.)ref erencesthepositionofthebucketatzerodegrees.
