2.1
2.1 General safety precautions for the system
The systems delivered by Diebold Nixdorf comply with the relevant safety regulations for data processing
equipment and information technology installations, including electrical office equipment in an office envi-
ronment.
NOTE
Read this entire manual carefully in order to obtain a thorough knowledge with respect
to the system and the components, in addition to their operation and maintenance.
Operate the system and the components correctly in accordance with this manual in or-
der to avoid injuries and damage.
Keep this manual available and consult it for guidance when you are unsure about how
to carry out one or another of the procedures.
DANGER
Electrical voltage
The system incorporates live components. Risk of fatal injury from electrical shock!
lDisconnect the system completely from the supply voltage.
lTo completely disconnect the device from the supply voltage, pull the plug out of
the electrical socket installed by the building contractor.
NOTE
Sub-assemblies with ElectroStatic Discharge-sensitive components (EDS) sind
marked with this label.
If you open the device or handle sub-assemblies with EDS, the following must be noted:
lBefore you work with such components, you should discharge yourself, e.g. by
touching a grounded object.
lDevices and tools must be free of static charge.
lUnplug the power plug before you plug in, unplug or install EDS.
lTouch EDS only at the edges.
lDo not touch any connector pins or conductor paths on an EDS.
The system may be repaired only by authorized specialist staff. Improper repairs will lead to the loss
of any liability claims.

Safety
Always lay supply lines and cables in a slip-proof and trip-free manner.
Touch only the grips and buttons marked in green to move parts on the system or components.
Replace the defective cable immediately.
In emergencies (e.g. damaged housing or damaged power cable, ingress of fluid or foreign objects),
disconnect the device from the supply voltage using the disconnecting device of the fuse or by pulling
out the power plug.
To disconnect the system completely from the supply voltage, use the disconnecting device of the fa-
cility installation.
Please make sure that no objects (e.g. paper clips) are able to enter inside the system, as this may
result in electrical shocks or short circuits.
Always keep the ventilation slot of the system free from obstruction to ensure proper air circulation
and to prevent overheating.
No data cables may be plugged in or unplugged during storms.
Protect the system against air flow, vibrations, dust, humidity and heat.
The DN Series™ EASY S2 is the result of state-of-the-art technical innovation. Therefore, please en-
sure equally modern structural and technical ambient conditions to enable the DN Series™ EASY S2
to function properly and efficiently. This means that you need to connect the DN Series™ EASY S2
or any other IT system only to mains networks with separate protective conductors (PE).
This type of mains network is called a TN-S network. Do
not use PEN conductors! Please also note the recommendations of DIN VDE 0100 Part 540, Appen-
dix C2 and EN50174-2, Section 5.4.3 (www.DIN.de). This will help you avoid any potential malfunc-
tions.
Note for USA and Canada: Please also note the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70 and Cana-
dian Electrical Code, Part I, CSA C22.1, as well as all applicable national regulations. This helps to
avoid erroneous functions.
When working on the cutter of the printer, the system must be switched off.
Only use the original packing to transport the system (protection against shock and impact).
Make sure that used parts are disposed of in a way that is environmentally compatible.
Batteries must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations for hazardous waste.
An explosion hazard exists if the lithium battery of the system is replaced incorrectly! Only identical
batteries or other types recommended by the manufacturer are permitted to be used to replace the
lithium battery.
Never climb onto the system or its attachments.
