1.1.1 Text Conventions
To make it easier for you to navigate this user guide and to operate the pay station, the following accentuations were
made in the text:
Safety instructions which you must observe in order to protect users and equipment.
Special notes intended to facilitate the use of the product.
At the beginning of each chapter you will find a short "guide" which summarizes the contents
of the chapter and provides links to subsections.

Requests to perform an action are given a bold and colored emphasis.

References to a figure: A number is the number of the item in the figure, a letter refers to the re-
levant work step in the figure.
In general, the pay station images are realistic in color. However, the pay station components
to be operated or moved during instructions are highlighted in orange just like their item num-
bers (see above). Arrows showing a work step are blue and so are the work steps letters (see
above).
Cross reference
Links to other chapters or sections are highlighted in blue. For user guide hard copies the
page number of the links is added in a small icon.
This user guide describes how to operate the pay station and handle the cash using the POSlinqâ„¢
middleware, which is available as an option and can be installed to provide communication with
your POS control unit software.
The check-out procedure as well as maintenance work thus can slightly differ from application to
application in terms of user interface and the interaction with it, whereas the consequent pay sta-
tion-related actions always remain the same.

About ...

1.2 About the Paypodâ„¢ Pay Station
The Paypodâ„¢ pay station is a fully integrated and auto-
mated cash payment solution.
It is designed to eliminate the challenges of accepting cash
payments by removing the need for the employee to handle
cash manually. Your customers are able to pay with notes
and coins, and the automated transaction, including the re-
turn of banknotes and coins as change to your customers,
is managed by software that integrates with your POS sys-
tem. In other words: You can assist your customers
without handling cash payments.
The pay station is modular to evolve with technology and
enable retailers to focus on customer service. Table top or
under counter (embedded into the retailer's counter) options
are available to provide the ideal pay station for your retail
space and POS environment. This user guide describes the
Paypodâ„¢ Embedded pay station series.
As an option, the pay station's POSlinqâ„¢ middleware can
be installed to provide communication with your POS con-
trol unit software. However, there are other ways to inte-
grate the pay station with your POS system like direct API
integration. Please refer to your individual on-site configura-
tion for further details.
Paypodâ„¢ Embedded
1.2.1 The Paypodâ„¢ pay station Features

1.2.2 The Paypodâ„¢ Pay Station Versions
To meet your demands of change capacity and cash safety, the Paypodâ„¢ Embedded pay station is available in three

In addition to the coin recycler the Paypodâ„¢ Embedded E22 pay station is equipped with a banknote recycler
suitable for a recycling capacity of 120banknotes. The standard cash box storing capacity of 600banknotes can be
expanded to a total of 1,200banknotes by choosing the Paypod Embedded E22L pay station.
Paypodâ„¢ Embedded E23 Pay Station
Apart from the coin recycler the Embedded E23 version of the Paypodâ„¢ pay station has a larger banknote re-
cycler with more flexible recycling options and two independent and lockable recycling cassettes allowing a max-
imum capacity of 180banknotes. The cash box stores up to 600banknotes. However, larger cash box sizes and an
additional recycling cassette are available.
Paypodâ„¢ Embedded E24 Pay Station
The Paypod™ EmbeddedE24 pay station differs from the EmbeddedE23 version only in the E24 banknote re-
cycler providing a loader cassette feeding the two recycler units with an additional capacity of up to 250bank-
notes preventing the pay station from running out of change. The cash box stores up to 600banknotes, as well.
However, larger cash box sizes are available.

the appropriate coin or banknote recycling units and returned to your customer as change. Use the pay station exclus-
ively for this purpose. Misuse of Paypodâ„¢ pay station may void the users warranty. Please consult this manual, your
authorized Paypodâ„¢ pay station installer, or CPI for additional guidance.
The Paypodâ„¢ pay station has been built in accordance with state-of-the-art standards and the recognized safety di-
rectives. Nevertheless, this equipment can constitute a source of danger. Therefore, please observe the following safety
instructions.
2.2 Protecting Persons and Equipment
·The pay station is designed for indoor use under dry conditions only.

2.3 Disconnection from Power Supply
Disconnecting the Paypodâ„¢ pay station from supply (intended or unintended) may result in
·an immediate abortion of a currently running transaction
·remaining cash in the processing paths
·coin counter discrepancies
To not affect the cash counters please
1In any case, wait until a transaction has been finished.
2Switch off the pay station using the on-off switch.
3If a running transaction was interrupted inadvertently, please separate the coins already accepted and counted
from the cash not accepted yet , if necessary.
2.4 Notes on Environmental Protection
The Paypodâ„¢ pay station has been developed to be environmental and recycling-friendly. This means that crucial cri-
teria such as long life, choice of material and its labeling, emissions, packaging, ease of disassembly and recyclability
have been taken into account. This saves resources and relieves the strain on the environment.
2.4.1 Saving Energy
Please switch on devices that need not be constantly running only when they are actually needed. They should also be
turned off when they are not needed for longer periods of time.
2.4.2 Disposing of Used Consumables
Please dispose of cleaning and maintenance material according to the applicable regulations of your country.
2.4.3 Labels on Plastic Case Parts
Please do not stick any labels on plastic case parts since that would make recycling more difficult.
