Determining the collector row distance "z"
When installing several collectors in series, maintain a distance of "z" (see
page 20).
Example:
Würzburg, is located at approx 50° latitude.
Installation on flat roofs (cont.)
18
5862 790 GB
1. Determine the angle of the sun β.
This should be chosen so that the
midday sun on 21.12. falls on the
second row of collectors without
being obstructed by shadows.
In Germany this angle (subject to
latitude) lies between 12° (Flens-
burg) and 20° (Freiburg).
Solar angle:
90 ° 23.5°latitude
(23.5 ° should be accepted as con-
stant)
90 ° 23.5 °50° = 16.5°
2. Calculating dimension. z:
h = 2020 mm
α=45°
β=16.5°
z Collector row distance
h Collector height
αCollector angle of inclination
βSolar angle
Fitting the support frame
Turn T-slot bolt 90° for all installation steps.
Position the collector array as far south as possible; longitudinal tube axis
aligned east-west.
