Subject: ADA Retrofit for Discrete Valves
These steps are for installation of ADA Retrofit Kits
020004038, 020004039, 020004040, or 020004041 on
Servend Ice/Beverage Dispensers with push button valves.
TOOLS REQUIRED
Phillips Head Screwdriver
Needle Nose Pliers
INSTALLATION OF ADA KEY PADS
Pre-installation
1. Turn off water & CO
2.
2. Bleed valves to relieve water and CO
2 pressure.
3. Remove power from the unit and turn off key switch.
Disassembly
4. Loosen the two knurled fasteners located in the top of the
merchandiser that hold the merchandiser in place. Remove the
merchandiser by lifting up and tilting forward.
5. Remove the splash panel from the unit by removing the two (2)
phillips head screws holding it in place.
6. Remove all valves and back blocks from the valve mount cap,
noting all flavor locations. (See Figure 1)
Valve Wire Harness Routing
7. Locate the valve to ADA harness and neatly separate the wires
into numeric order and divide them according to the number of
valves on the unit. (See Figure 11 on page 3 for valve order)
NOTE: Be careful not to confuse the 6 and the 9 wires, all labels will
face the same direction.
8. Route the harness wires from the top of the valve mount cap to
their corresponding valve locations on each side of the ice chute
and if needed, use needle nose pliers to pull them through the
openings in the valve mount cap. (See Figure 1)
9. Mount the harness to an open area on the outer wall of the bin,
usually to the left of the ice chute above the valve mount cap,
using the adhesive clip included. (See Figure 2)
10. Reinstall the back blocks and valves.
Valve Wire Connections
Flomatic valves - Using a phillips head screw driver,
remove the switch housings on the top of the valve and
replace with the housings included in the kit. Then plug in
the power connector and attach the black ADA harness
wire to the red switch housing wire. (See Figure 4)
UFB1/SFV1/LEV/WFF valves - Remove the white wire and
connect to the blue harness jumper connector, then
connect the harness to the valve. (See Figure 5)

Key Switch Wire Connections
If dispenser is equipped with a valve key switch, route the
key switch jumper harness to the key switch location.
Remove the connection that has a ground (green/yellow
wire), connect to the jumper harness, then connect the
harness to the terminal. (See Figure 6)
ADA Key Pad Wiring
11. Route the ADA ribbon cable under the drain pan. (See Figure 7)
12. Continue routing the ADA cable behind the valve mount cap on the
left hand side of the unit. (See Figure 8)
13. Connect the ADA ribbon cable to the valve wire harness that was
clipped to the foam front in Step 9. (See Figure 2)
14. Neatly tuck in and take up any slack remaining in the ADA ribbon
cable so it will not be in the way of any moving parts or panels
when they are placed back on the unit.
Drain Pan & ADA Touch Pad Box
15. Attach the drain pan to the unit. (See Figure 9)
16. Center the ADA Key Pad Box with the unit in front of the drain pan
and secure into place. (See Figure 4)
17. Apply corresponding drink labels to the ADA key pads.
NOTE: Drinks correspond from left to right on the left side of the unit,
and right to left on the right side of the unit. If buttons are not used
they will be blanked out. The Cubed/Crushed buttons are only
utilized on units configured with the Selectable Ice feature.
(See Figure 11 on page 3)
18. Apply power to the valves and test the ADA Key Pad to make
sure the correct valve fires when pressed.
Finish Installation
19. Put all valve covers back into place making sure the flavor lineup
is correct as noted in Step 6.
20. Put the splash panel and merchandiser back onto the unit and
reinstall the screws that hold them in place. (See Figure 10)
21. Restore water and CO
2 to the unit.
Important
If mounting the ADA Box directly in front of the drain pan on
the counter top leave a minimum of 1 inch space between the
bottom edge of the drain pan and the ADA Box to allow space
for drain pan removal.
