Astragal Replacement
for E-Series Hinged Inswing and Outswing Type III AP/PA Patio Doors
Use caution when working at elevated heights and around unit openings.
Follow manufacturers’ instructions for ladders and/or scaffolding. Failure
to do so may result in injury or death.

Break varnish or paint seal by scoring between panel and astragal with
utility knife.

Note the orientation and location of corner foam pads at top (inswing
patio door only) and bottom of astragal. Carefully remove corner pad(s)
and save for reuse.
Open passive door by rotating thumb turn to unlock hardware. Then push down on handle
to open passive panel.

With passive door panel open, pull weatherstrip back 4" at top of
panel.

Remove screws attaching astragal to panel. Save for reuse.

Remove astragal and lay on at surface.

▶If replacement astragal was ordered without hardware proceed to
step 8.
▶If replacement astragal was ordered with hardware proceed to
step 9.
Remove top, bottom, and center strike plates and dust covers. Reapply in
same positions on new astragal at routed locations. Properly dispose of
old astragal.

Position astragal ush with panel ends. Fasten new astragal to panel
with saved screws. Press weatherstrip into kerf at top of panel.

Reapply corner foam pad(s) at same locations noted in step 4.

Close passive door panel. Lock door panel by rst lifting up on handle, then turning thumb turn
counterclockwise.
Close and lock active door panel. Check for
correct lock operation.
▶Astragal replacement is completed.
