DA 1200 wall inlet
4 Mounting Guide
1 Product description
Wall inlet DA 1200 is a universal wall inlet which is used for ventilating livestock houses with natural, LPV or
Combi-Tunnel ventilation.
The DA 1200 inlet can be built directly into a wall without any additional support, or it can be embedded directly
in prefab elements at factories manufacturing such elements. The inlet can be assembled from modules in a
number of different ways. The wall inlet is available in different widths making it suitable for wall thicknesses of
up to 35 cm. The inlet is available either with a coarse or a fine mesh.
The Advanced inlet control of the inlets is patent pending and is supplied with a regulation set which makes it
easy to adjust the air inlet in accordance with the current conditions.
The inlet is easy-to-clean due to its open and smooth construction. Also, the thermoplastic stands high-pressure
cleaning. Furthermore, the choice of material makes the inlet resistant to UV radiation. The inlet is made of high-
impact material; it is dimensionally stable and 100% recyclable.

The air direction baffle is 15 cm and includes side plates. Air direction baffle
(short/long) can be used for adjusting the air jet under cold weather condi-
tions and to avoid adhesion on the wall. The baffle is used for all inlets.
However, in connection with 2 rows of inlets the baffle is only required for
the top row if the inlets are placed right above each other.
Long air direction baffle is applied where the air jet range and Coanda-ef-
fect are particular important, for instance in wide livestock houses.

433014 DA 1200 baffle plate
For reduction of external actions on the DA 1200 or DA 1211/1211B, baffle
plates are offered in connection with one or more of the following condi-
tions:
The volume of the livestock house is low (narrow and low livestock
house with a flat ceiling)
In detached wind-affected buildings without windbreaks and the like.
The baffle plate must be mounted on all inlets in the same room and are not
to be used together with Advanced Inlet Control.
The baffle plate increases the requirements to the tightness of the building
and cannot replace external windshield.
The baffle plate does not reduce the inlet capacity.
One per inlet.

DA 1200 inlet cover can be used together with the inlets of the DA 1200 se-
ries.
The inlet cover is designed to protect the livestock house against rain/snow
and to provide a certain amount of wind and light dimming effect.
One per wall inlet.
433312 DA 1200 light trap for inlet cover
DA 1200 light trap for inlet is always used together with DA 1200 inlet
cover.
The light trap prevents a large amount of daylight from seeping into the
building ("brown out"). The light trap is made of injection-molded PP
(polypropylene) which is dirt-repellent and easy to clean.
Use one for each DA 1200 inlet cover.
433334 DA 1200 fly screen
DA 1200 fly screen for inlet cover is always used together with DA 1200 in-
let cover.
The fly screen prevents the ingress of flies and the screen is self-support-
ing.
Can only be used for inlets in 1 row.
With regular and sufficient cleaning, the capacity of the inlet is not reduced
by the use of the fly screen.
One per inlet.
433317 Fly screen - 25 m x 1.37 m
Fly screen on a roll prevents the ingress of flies.
With regular and sufficient cleaning there will be no significant pressure
loss, but an emergency opening should be provided via bypass in case the
fly screen is choked.
Use 1 m2 fly screen per 2000 m3/h max. air.
433138 DA 1200 hen net, hinged
The hen net prevents the fledged hens from sitting in the air inlet. The net is
top-hinged, allowing easy access when servicing the inlet.

3.2 Wall inlet positioning
The positioning of the inlet in a wall depends on the layout of the building and the house layout. The positioning
may therefore only be made according to directions communicated by SKOV A/S or representatives of the com-
pany.
The inlet must be placed horizontally in the wall. The inlet flap should be pointing into the livestock house.
Place the insulation of the brickwork against the inlet all the way round (like in other categories of constructions).
This way you prevent a cold bridge along the side of the inlet from being formed.
In connection with brick and concrete walls, use mounting foam to fix the inlet, see section Installation in wall
[}14].
3.3 Mounting inlet
3.3.1 Modular System
The inlet can be assembled from modules in a number of different ways. However, the inlets may be assembled
only in such a way that guide pins and fastening screws can be used. I.e. the inlets may only be assembled
above/below or next to each other. Always assemble the inlets with the guide pins and fastening screws before
they are build-in/casted in.
When inlets are assembled in blocks of, for example, 2 or 4, insulate the inlets with foam tape or polystyrene in
the ribs between the inlets (i.e. insulate once per assembly).
Then assemble the inlets using the guide pins, see below.
Secure the inlets using the fastening screws in front of the guide pins (use screw kit 433022).
Assemble the inlets before building them into or installing them in the wall.
Secure the inlets using the fastening screws. Use 3 screws at
the bottom and 1 at the side of the inlet.
Break off the moulded guide pins and place
them in the pre-formed holes on the rib. Then
assemble the inlets.
DA 1200 wall inlet
14 Mounting Guide
3.3.2 Installation in wall
The upper transportation screw at the center of the flap should secure that the inlet box is not dislocated side-
ways when building in.
DA 1200 is a plastic wall inlet and not as sturdy as a brick. When temperature changes plastic is working con-
siderably more than brickwork (up to 1.5 mm at a change of temperature of approx. 30 °C), and consequently
some conditions should be considered when handling and building in.
3.3.2.1 Installation in an existing wall or element
SKOV A/S recommends using single-component polyurethane foam or similar.
Check before foaming how much the foam expands.
Place the inlet in the middle of the wall hole using wedges.
Do not press the inlet into place during assembly as this may cause the inlet frame to warp so that the flap can-
not close tightly.
Point the inlet as shown in the drawing. The inlet is pointed in the entire depth of the inlet in the corners and ap-
prox. 10 cm to each side of the corners. It is important only to seal the edge in the middle of the inlet as the joint
would otherwise make the inlet skew. We recommend using a sealant gun.
DA 1200 wall inlet
Mounting Guide 15
3.3.2.2 Building-in the Inlet
Transportation screw
Place the wall inlet horizontally, flush with the finished
inner wall. Ensure that the flap faces towards the build-
ing with the transportation screw at the top.
Lay the inlet "loosely" down into the mortar and fix it
symmetrically to prevent unnecessary loads which may
cause the inlet to warp.
Fill the inlet ribs completely
with mortar.
Approx. 10 mm joint
There should at least be a full joint (approx. 10 mm) round the entire inlet. Make sure that the inlet is able to
work in relation to the building structure.
Fill the inlet ribs completely with mortar.
Make sure that the building becomes completely tight and at the same time leads any solar heat into the struc-
ture.
In order to prevent cold bridges from forming along the side of the inlet, the insulation of the brickwork must abut
against the inlet all the way round it (similarly to normal building structures).
Finally, clean the inside and outside of the inlet and remove mortar, also from holes.
Mount a sill on the outside below the inlet or coat with cement to prevent water from penetrating down into the
building structure.
Choose a regular size joint. If you choose to use bricks only, cut a brick to half height to ensure an even joint all
the way round.

Mount the filler plugs included.
Only when all reels have been mounted, the pull rod is
pushed into place.
Place the screw in the clamp on the pull rod.
Always place the clamp identically in relation to the roller so
there will be as little readjustment as possible. The distance
must be approx. 85 mm when the ventilation system is
closed.
Turn the string holder so it is flush with the bottom of the in-
let.
Make sure that the roller for the pull rod can rotate freely.
