DA 174 Winch Motor
1 Product Description
DA 174 is a linear 24 V winch motor for regulation of wall and ceiling inlets in livestock house ventilation
systems.
The typical application is in houses, where it is possible to connect several units to the same winch motor via a
mechanical connection in the form of a pull rod or wire.
DA 174 is mounted directly on the wall and is available in a stepless version.
The control box can be placed as required within 1.8m from the winch motor

2 Mounting Guide
Before installation, check the following:
A. Check the house according to drawings as regards positioning
B. Check the part delivery according to order/parts list
2.1 Positioning the control box
Place the control box in appropriate height for
operation and the installed cable.
Mount the cables in the box according to the
wiring chart.
2.2 Pay attention to scratches
Lance and piston are made of anodized
aluminium. Scratches in the surface will result in
corrosion damages.
Retain the piston on the outermost part when
counter tightening.
2.3 Possibilities of installation
The piston/motor must not turn upwards as dirt
and water can penetrate and damage the winch
motor.
2.4 Centre distance from wall 40mm
This installation is e.g. used for operation of
built-in inlets.
2.5 Centre distance from wall 80mm
At operation of flange inlets, more distance is
required.

2.6 Straight pull
It must be ensured that the winch motor pulls
straight, i.e. equal distance to the centre line.
2.7 Safety
Pull rod and winch motor are connected by
means of a piece of wire of approx. 300 mm.
This must be done to ensure that the inlet can
be opened manually in an emergency situation,
without using tools.
3 Interlinking
When mounting all types of inlets the piston in the winch motor must be pulled completely back.
The inlet must be completely closed when inlets/windows, which open at slack, are connected to
pull rod or wire.
Inlets and flaps, which open at pull, must be completely open when they are connected to pull
rod or wire.
3.1 DA 1500 ceiling inlet - DA 174/380 mm
stepless
Opens at pull.
The piston of the winch motor must be pressed back and
the inlet completely open when they are connected.
Ensure space for max. length of stroke of 380 mm.
Subsequently, the climate computer must be set to open
the inlet 31 cm corresponding to max. opening.
3.2 DA 1211B wall inlet in ceiling as Combi-
Diffuse inlet DA 174/380 mm
Opens at pull.
The piston of the winch motor must be pressed back and
the inlet completely open when they are connected.
Ensure space for max. length of stroke of 380 mm.
3.3 DA 1200 wall inlet DA 174/380 mm
stepless
Opens at pull.
The piston of the winch motor must be pressed back and
the inlet completely open when they are connected.
Ensure space for max. length of stroke of 380 mm.

3.4 Windows DA 174/380 mm
Opens at slack.
The piston of the winch motor must be pressed back and
the window completely closed when they are connected.
Ensure space for max. length of stroke of 380 mm.
C.f. 3.8 mechanical reduction, if necessary.
3.5 Shutter in outlet DA 174/380 mm stepless
Opens at pull.
The piston of the winch motor must be pressed home and the
shutters completely open when they are connected.
See item 3.8 mechanical reduction, if necessary.
3.6 Vertical installation
The best positio is a high and vertical position with the
piston downwards as shown. Thus depositing of water and
dirt on the piston is avoided.

3.7 Mechanical reduction of the pulling / slacking length
The length of stroke of the winch motor is sometimes longer than required, i.e. that when the inlets are closed,
the piston can continue further to limit switch e.g. at manual operation. For some inlets, it may be unfavourable
and result in the string falling off the pulleys.
The solution is to mount a safety wire around a mounting bolt including disc. The other end must be fixed on
e.g. the pull rod, so the inlet is just closed.
A corresponding solution with the application of a stop unit mounted directly on wire in connection with the
application of pulleys.
4 Cleaning
Clean the product with water and a brush without using:
high-pressure cleaner
solvents
corrosive/caustic agents

5 Installation Guide
Installation, service and troubleshooting of electrical equipment must be carried out by expert
staff in compliance with applicable national regulations in Europe, this would be the EN 60204-
1 or other current EU regulations.
A supply isolator must be installed for each motor and power supply to facilitate voltage-free
work on the electrical equipment. The supply isolator is not supplied by SKOV A/S.
5.1 Stepless Type - Opens at pull
The winch motor DA 174 is mounted with a 5-core cable, which is mounted in the terminals R1 and J6 of the
climate computer.
The terminals Y1-8 of the control box must be connected to the terminals of the computer by means of a 7-core
cable according to the set-up of the computer (Show installation).
Check that the 24 V power supply is sufficient, minimum 1.6 A.
