Fetch the engine block (Stage 18) and locate
the hole circled above.
3
Line up hose As connector to the hole by
sliding it into the space beneath the HT
lead connectors.

Put the engine block assembly in the rear
of the underbody. Make sure you have it
positioned correctly, with its left side
tilting downwards to allow the rear left
driveshaft to t into the arrowed hole in
the engine block.
Take the water pump T hose and feed it
across the top of the engine block as shown,
tting it beneath the parts as indicated by
the dashed blue arrow.
12
7
Work the hose through so that it sits neatly
within the recess between the left and right
top cylinder covers.
8
Lift up the rear of the underbody
assembly by about 5cm (a glass cube has
been used here for clarity). Remove any
masking tape previously used to hold the
suspension in place.
Take the ignition coil mount (assembled in
Stage 34) and attach it to the left rear fender
(Stage 34) on the underbody assembly (Stage
47) with two M2.6 × 6mm tapping screws
(Stage 43). Notice the correct alignment in
the photo above, with the square moulding
on the left of the two ignition coils.
Use the end of a wooden pencil to press the
hose A connector into the hole fully, securing
the part.
Now take the free tip of the hose and t it
into the circled hole on the front-right side of
the engine block.
Now rotate hose A gently upwards so that its
connector is facing the hole and its body is
positioned as shown above.

By removing the upper arm of the right rear
hub, it is possible to adjust the angle of the
right driveshaft (circled, above).
16
Remove the M2.6 × 8mm screws that attach
the upper arm using the thin screwdriver
(see Stage 18). As the screwdriver is going
in diagonally, it is easy to damage the screw.
As a precaution, a spare screw was provided
with Stage 38.
Hold the parts in place, then turn the
assembly around and lay it out upside down
on your work surface. Laying a towel out
before you do this will help protect it.
1514
Using the size 1 Phillips screwdriver, tighten a
M2.6 × 6mm self-tapping screw in the screw
hole indicated above. Do not tighten the
screw fully.
19
In the other screw hole, tighten another
M2.6 × 6mm self-tapping screw.
20
Plug the end of the right driveshaft into the
hole in the engine block, indicated by the
arrow and the blue circle.
18
The end of the right driveshaft ts into the
engine block. Be very careful with the
driveshaft and do not attempt to force it
into position.
17
Lower the engine block into the space,
and insert the left rear driveshaft as
indicated by the arrow.
13

Here is the completed assembly at the end of
this stage.
Then, on the opposite side, put an M2.6 ×
8.5mm in the screw hole indicated, to
reattach the arm on the other side of the
chassis frame.
23
Then connect the radius arm to the bracket
with an M2.6 × 10mm self-tapping screw in
the screw hole.
24
Tighten the M2.6 × 8.5mm screw. Insert the tip of the lower arm into the
groove of the chassis frame, and x in an
M2.6 × 8.5mm screw as indicated by the
arrow above. Use a size 1 Phillips screwdriver.
2221
Using the size 1 Phillips screwdriver, tighten
the screw.
25
On the opposite side, t the radius arm into
the bracket, and ax an M2.6 × 10mm
tapping screw with the size 1 Phillips
screwdriver.
Now reattach the right rear hub. Again,
working on the screw diagonally may
damage the screw heads, so there is a spare
provided.

The slatted vents for the left radiator are
clearly visible here to the side of the rear

the enormous amount of heat generated
by the powerful V12 engine.

alternately to ensure an even hold.
Hold the parts together and turn the
assembly over. Insert an M2 x 5mm
countersunk screw into the central hole.
11
7
Now line up the radiator part C/D
sub-assembly and t it into the radiator
part A/B. The two pins are dierently sized
to ensure you t the parts correctly.
Tighten with the screwdriver.

With the pins and wires positioned correctly,
press the parts together.
With the pins in place correctly, press the
parts together.
Now join up the radiator A and fan
sub-assembly to the radiator B, making
sure that the yellow wires are sitting in the
indicated groove and are not trapped
between the parts. The pins should sit in
the corresponding sockets.
Line up the fan and guard to the face of the
left radiator A, so that the indicated pins and
holes align.

Use side cutters to trim the HT leads to the
length shown. Be careful not to trim these
too short – they need to run into the ignition
coils with a little slack.
15
Press the tips of the leads into the holes in
the coils, as shown.
16
Take the underbody assembly and locate the
two free HT leads at the rear of the engine
block. Stretch these out gently, as shown.
With the pins inserted correctly, press the
radiator parts together.
14
Take the two valve hoses supplied with this stage and t the
tips of these into the A/C lter valve tips on the engine block
(inset). Use tweezers to help you do this.
Feed the hoses around to the left of the engine and around to
the front of the block, following the arrows.
Carefully turn the assembly over again (as before, a towel will
help protect your model) and nd the exhausts assembled in
Stage 14. Line these up to the rear of the model. The pins
indicated by the arrows t into the holes shown above.

You have now completed this stage’s assembly. Keep the
spare screws in a plastic bag marked with the stage number.
To attach the exhaust, use the M2.3 × 6mm self-tapping screw
with washer. Use the size 1 Phillips screwdriver, but do not
tighten the screw fully.
Put a M2.3 × 6mm self-tapping screw in the other screw hole.
Do not tighten the screw fully.
24
While supporting the assembly from below,
use a stick or wooden pencil to push the
ends of the exhaust pipes into place, as
shown in the inset photo.
22
With the exhaust pipes in place, turn the
body face up again. Put an M2.3 × 6mm
self-tapping screw with washer (from Stage
46) in the screw hole shown by the arrow in
the photograph.
23
Push the exhaust pipes into place. The inward-facing tips of the exhaust pipes
will meet these circled projections.

up enough to keep the main circuit board
in place.
4
Put the main circuit board in place, taking
care not to snag any of the wires extending
from the main board. The circles in the
photograph show the two holes for the

Take the left radiator assembled in Stage 49.
Two hoses from the air lter t into holes in
the side of the radiator, shown above by the
blue circles.
Put the switch in place, matching the screw
holes on the switch with the holes in the
mounting posts.
11
7
Plug the hoses into the radiator.
Take an M2.0 × 5mm countersunk
self-tapping screw from Stage 49 and
put it in the screw hole indicated by
the red arrow, above.
12
8
Then place another M2.0 × 5mm countersunk
self-tapping screw on the other side of the
switch unit and tighten it carefully.
Take the switch unit on its cable from the
main board. Put the switch unit in position,
as shown, with the switch itself pointing
into the large central hole. Note the position
of the metal terminal (circled), which
indicates the correct alignment of the unit.
Using the size 1 Phillips screwdriver, tighten
the screw carefully.
Put another M2.6 × 6mm self-tapping screw

16
Take a M2.6 × 4mm self-tapping screw and
put it in the screw hole circled above.
Move the wires away from the rear side of
the main board, and put the left radiator in
place as shown, aligning the screw holes
(circled). Be careful that you do not pull or
kink the wires.

Push the plug into the socket, as shown. The
connection should hold together strongly,
but take care not to pull it.
Take the yellow cable from the main board
and the cable that extends from the left
radiator. The plug on the radiator cable
pushes into a socket on the yellow cable, as
shown in the inset photo.
