Adding the lower
wishbone to the
right rear hub
Hold the right rear hub upside down, with its inside face
angled towards you, as shown, as it will be easier to continue
the assembly with it in this position. The tabs on the wheel
end of the driveshaft will t into place as indicated.
Now look at the wheel end of the driveshaft. An ‘R‘ moulded
inside the recess marks this as the right-hand shaft, while the
side tabs are of noticeably dierent widths.
Familiarise yourself with the right driveshaft – when seen from
the side, as shown, the shaft angles downwards from the end
that meets the wheel to the end that connects to the
dierential, which transmits the power from the engine.

54
Hold the driveshaft in place, then insert an M2 x 4mm screw
(Stage 38) into the indicated hole.
Press the part into place.Line up the driveshaft to the holes shown.
6
Tighten this, again just enough to hold the
part without wobbling. Now tighten the
screws alternately, a little at a time, until the
shaft is fully secure and locked into position.
9
Now position the right rear lower wishbone
so that the ends of its arms t on either side
of the cylindrical hinge at the bottom of the
rear hub. It does not matter which way round
the part goes.
10
Place another M2 x 4mm screw into the
opposite hole.
Do not tighten the screw fully, just enough
to hold the shaft securely without wobbling.
87
240
Lamborghini Countach LP 500S
Now t an M2.6 x 12mm screw (Stage 38) through the
wishbone bracket, from the angle shown.
14
Hold the parts together and, on the side of the hub assembly
that does not have the brake duct hose and upper arm
attached to it, insert an M2.6 x 8mm screw (Stage 38) through
the hole in the wishbone and into the hinge.
Line up the holes in the ends of the wishbone arms with those
in the ends of the cylindrical hinge (circled).
Pull the screw through as far as it will go.
1211
15
Tighten the screw until you feel resistance, then stop and
loosen the screw by half a turn.
Hold the hub assembly so that the free hole in the wishbone is
facing you (this is on the side from which the brake duct hose
runs). Now line up the tip of the screw tted in the previous
step with the hole.
13
16
241
Lamborghini Countach LP 500S
Insert the tip of the screw into the hole. Pressing on its head
with your nger or a screwdriver will help you do this.
17
Now pivot the wishbone up and down a few times as well. If it
doesn’t move easily, go back over Steps 13-18 and loosen the
screws a little.
20
Once the tip is sitting in the hole, tighten the screw with the
screwdriver. Again, be sure not to tighten it fully – allow a little
room for movement.
As you did for the left driveshaft in Stage 39, store the unused
suspension arm in a plastic bag for future use. As well as
marking the stage number on it as usual, it will also help to
mark an ‘R’ on the bag, to remind you that the part will be used
on the right-hand side.
18
21
As you have done with the other moving parts in this
assembly, make sure that the wishbone bracket can rotate
without diculty by turning it back and forth a few times.
This stage is now complete, and the right-
hand rear hub has the beginnings of its
suspension tted. Store all parts away safely
until they are needed.

through these aligned holes from the side
shown above.
3
Press the screw through the holes as far as it
will go by hand, stopping as soon as you feel
any resistance.
4
The screw holes in the bracket and upper
arm should line up when the parts are joined.
Hold the rear shock absorber bracket
assembly (tted with its shocks in Stage 31)
and the left rear hub (Stage 39) as shown.
Line up the free end of the hubs rear upper
arm to the indicated slot on the side of the

Ensure that the holes are aligned.
The holes of both parts should align neatly.
11
7
Insert another M2.6 x 8mm screw from Stage
38 into the hole.
Hold the parts in place, then insert an M2.6 x
8mm screw (Stage 38) into the hole.
12
8
Turn the assembly around, and line up the
hole in the other shock absorber with the
indicated hole in the hub.
Now line up the hole in the indicated
shock’s free end with the circled hole on
the left rear hub.
Hold the assembly carefully, and tighten
the screw until the part does not rattle, but
don’t tighten it so much that it is pressing
the parts too tightly together and
restricting their movement, or possibly
damaging them.
Now use a screwdriver to turn the screw in
the rest of the way, but be sure not to
overtighten it, as this will impede the upper
arms movement and can even damage the
parts. Again, stop tightening the screw the
moment you feel any resistance.

Take an M2.6 x 12mm screw (Stage 38) and t
this into the hole.
16
Now take the right rear hub assembled in
Stage 41 and fit its rear upper arm into the
indicated slot on the other side of the
shock bracket, as you did for the left hub.
Tighten the screw until the part does not
rattle, but again don’t tighten it so much that
it is pressing the parts too tightly together
and restricting their movement.
1413
Now take the shock absorber that is closest
to the right rear hubs brake duct and line it
up with the indicated hole.
19
Ensure that the holes are aligned.
20
Tighten the screw with the screwdriver, again
taking care not to overtighten it.
Press this in as far as you can by hand. Do not
force the screw in.

Turn the assembly around and repeat Step 19
for the shock absorber on the other side of
the hub assembly.
23
Once more, make sure that the holes are
neatly aligned.
24
Tighten the screw, again just enough for it to
secure the parts without restricting them.
Insert another M2.6 x 8mm screw from Stage

of the build.
Hold the panels together with one hand, and
with the other, insert an M2.6 x 6mm
self-tapping screw into the indicated hole.
15
Turn the screw so that it enters both panels,
but tighten it only lightly at this stage.
16
Push the panels together to join them.Next, line up underbody panel A to panel B.
The four arrowed tabs should line up with
four correspondingly placed holes.
1413
Continue until all four tabs are tted
with screws. When they are, tighten the
screws in sequence, a little at a time, until the
panels are secured evenly.
Repeat Step 16 to t another M2.6 x 6mm

The upswinging scissor doors
rst seen in the Countach have
for many come to embody the
Lamborghini brand, but while
visually striking, their inclusion in
the design was functional as well
as stylish. The car’s body was so
wide, at almost two metres across,
that conventional outswinging
doors were simply not an option,
and the scissor doors were an
innovative, and hugely popular,
solution to the problem.

Press the lower bracket into position on top
of the rear shock absorber bracket.
4
The bracket should sit neatly within the
correspondingly shaped edge of the
underbody. Turning the hubs outward will
help the parts t into place as they should.
Place the underbody assembly (Stage 43)
upside down on your work surface, with the

Now lay out the left and right lower
suspension arms (Stages 39 and 41) on your
work surface, as shown, and use the relative
positions of the red-circled ridges to identify
which is the left arm and which is the right.
Repeat for the screw hole on the opposite
side, still holding the parts in position. When
both screws are in, tighten them alternately
to ensure an even t.
11
7
Fit the right suspension arm into the
indicated lug on the side of the chassis frame.
The ridge circled in the previous step should
face upwards.
Working on the underside again, t the free
end of the left hub’s brake duct hose onto the
left-hand hose connector.
12
8
Repeat Steps 8 and 9 to t the right-hand
brake duct hose to its connector.
Tighten the screw, but only lightly.
Push the hose fully onto the connector, using
tweezers if it proves dicult to do by hand. If
the hose comes free from the brake duct,
simply reattach it once it is securely in place
on the connector.
Turn the whole assembly over, holding the
suspension brackets in position as you do so.
Then t one of the M2.6 x 6mm screws into

Holding the suspension arms (Step 13) in place,
turn the chassis frame upside down to match
the underbody. Then lower it towards the
underbody, lining up the holes in the frame
with those indicated in the previous step.
15
With the underbody upside down, locate the ve circled screw holes. You will use
these when you attach the chassis frame.
Repeat for the left suspension arm, then
double-check that both parts are correctly
aligned, with their ridges facing upwards.
1413
With the posts in place, insert an M2.6 x 6mm
screw into the indicated hole at the end of
the suspension bracket.
Repeat Steps 17 and 18 for the opposite hole.Lower the frame onto the underbody, so that
the holes in its rearmost section line up with
those on the rear suspension bracket, and the
mounting posts next to the rear suspension
arms sit next to the brake duct hoses and
connectors. Fit both sets of posts rst.
Turn the screw a few times, but do not
tighten it fully at this stage.

Now t another M2.6 x 6mm screw into the
hole on the right side of the chassis frame.
This will go into the underside of the
mounting post lined up in Step 16. Again,
tighten the screw only lightly at this stage.
22
Fit the nal M2.6 x 6mm screw into the
indicated hole, opposite the one in the
previous step. Then, go around all of the
screws tted in Steps 18 to 23 and turn each
alternately until all are fully tightened and
the chassis frame is evenly secured.
23
For now, x these parts in place with short
strips of masking tape.
Tighten the screw lightly with a screwdriver.
Now slide the free end of each rear lower
suspension arm into its bracket on each rear
hub (lower arrow). You can also now t the
tip of each lower wishbone into its slot in the
shock absorber bracket (upper arrow).
Turn your model back over, and insert
another M2.6 x 6mm screw into the indicated
hole at the head of the underbodys central
open section.
