Once the tab is fully through, straighten it
and pull the belt so that the tab can sit
neatly against the underside of the front
compartment.
6
Now fold the tab over so that the hole in its centre ts onto the indicated pin, holding it at.
7
Carefully pull the tab through from the
underside. Take care not to strain the belt
itself too much when you pull it.
Now take one of the belt stoppers saved from
Stage 23 and t it over the tab, as shown by
the red arrows.
Press the stopper into position. When it is
correctly positioned, the screw hole (arrowed)
will be accessible.
Insert an M2 x 5mm countersunk screw into
the hole, as indicated by the red arrow.
Gently tighten the screw with the screwdriver,
taking care not to overtighten it.

Using tweezers, t the gold-coloured union
of the hose into the indicated hole in the
side of the front assembly.
18
Carefully pull the belt through.
14
As you did for the rst belt, fold it down and
cover the metal tab with the belt stopper.
15
As you did in Steps 3 and 4, feed the second
spare wheel belt through the oor of the
front compartment, with the front side of the
belt facing upwards.
13
16
Use another M2 x 5mm countersunk screw to
fasten the belt stopper.
17
Take the A/C condenser hose and gently
bend the black section until it resembles the
one above. Bend the black section only, and
be especially careful not to break the join
between the black hose and the gold-
coloured union on the end.
Make sure that the part is in straight, then
press it into place with your nger.
19
Check that your assembly looks like this
when seen from the top of the front
compartment.
12
142
Lamborghini Countach LP 500S
Now take the A/C dehumidier hose and
again use tweezers to line up its two ends
with the indicated holes. Be sure to position
the longer of the two L-shaped, gold-
coloured unions as shown.
22
Press the indicated union into the hole with
your nger. It will only t neatly when it is
correctly aligned.
23
Push the hose into the hole. You do not need
to glue it at this stage.
21
24
Now t the other tip into the circled hole. Use tweezers this time to prevent any risk of the part
getting damaged. Again, the tip will only t comfortably when sitting correctly, so be careful
not to force it.
This stage is now complete, and the front compartment is tted with the two spare wheel belts
that will hold the spare in place on completion. Store your assembly safely, along with any
unused parts, in a sealable plastic bag with the stage number marked on it for reference.
Now feed the black end of the hose into the
indicated hole along the inside wall of the
front compartment. Make sure you select the
correct hole, as shown in the photo.

The distinctive, angular form of the
Lamborghini Countach is, though
aesthetically pleasing, also born of
practical automotive engineering
concerns. For example, the
strikingly steep contours help the
aerodynamics, while the sharp,
almost jagged air intake ports and
vents are essential for keeping the
massive 5-litre engine cool.

the silver nozzle, as shown.
Make sure the cylinder is straight, then push
it securely into place.
Now feed the free end of the brake master
cylinders pre-tted hose into the indicated
hole. Hold the end attached to the cylinder in
place with a second pair of tweezers.
Make sure that the cylinder end of the hose stays fully attached when you are feeding the free
end into the hole.
Now repeat the process for the brake servo’s
hose, again holding its attached end in place
with a second pair of tweezers.

Tip
147
Line up the upper cage with the front
compartment, so that it sits above the spare
wheel and its right edge slots in beneath the
A/C condenser hose (you can remove this
temporarily, if necessary).
17
When the reservoir is sitting neatly on top of
the cylinder, press it rmly into place using
your nger and thumb, as shown.
13
Replace the spare wheel removed in Stage
25, following the instructions for tting given
in Stage 24. Make sure that the brake master
cylinder and the hoses tted previously are
not disturbed as you do this, by gently
moving them to one side. Also fold the spare
wheel belts forwards, as shown, so that they
remain accessible.
14
Now place the brake uid reservoir onto the
top of the brake master cylinder.
12
15
Hold the wheel in place and turn the
assembly over. Insert and tighten the M2.3
x 6mm screw left over from Stage 24 to
secure the wheel.
16
Tighten the screw until the wheel is held fast. Check that the upper cage is positioned like
the one shown above.
18
Push the free tip of the hose into the hole.

Repeat for the other side of the assembly.
22
Now turn the assembly over and insert an
M2.3 x 6mm self-tapping screw into the
indicated hole.
20
23 24
Now pull one of the spare wheel belts up and
over the tyre, and clip it onto the clasp in the
centre of the upper cage.
Repeat the process for the other belt.
This stage is now complete, and the front compartment has taken one
more step towards full assembly.
Hold the upper cage in both hands and
press it evenly into the rear of the front
compartment until you feel a click, when
the part will slot into place.

of the tank, or at the silver-coloured union
near its free end, as these areas are less
exible than the hose.
6
Fit the mounting post of the windscreen
washer tank into the indicated hole to the
side of the spare wheel. Tweezers will help
you do this.
Press the tank fully into place.
7
Repeat the process for the second hole.
Now use tweezers to feed the end of the hose
into the circled hole above the spare wheel.
Feed the hose through until the union is
above the left-hand end of the battery,
as shown.
Now t the battery cable (-), which is the
longer of the two supplied with Stage 26, into
the indicated hole next to the windscreen

The Countach underwent a great many
modications and design tweaks in the
time between its conception in the late
1960s, its launch at the 1971 Geneva
Motor Show, and the manufacture of
Walter Wolfs custom LP 500S model in
1975. Practical design concerns saw the
severity of the prototype’s contours
reduced in later production models of
the car, and a number of performance-
enhancing changes were made, most
famously the Walter Wolf-inspired
increase in engine size from 4 to 5 litres.
