Lamborghini Countach LP 500S
Here you can see that
the paint has lost its
usual gloss nish
because something
has rubbed against it.
You can use a coarse polishing compound to
eliminate scratches and irregularities in the
surface, and then nish with the ne polishing
compound.
Fine polishing compound will bu the surface of
the parts, and it will also polish away blemishes
like the one shown on the left if used with
slightly more force.
The parts are provided painted, but the paint can be damaged if it gets rubbed or scraped
against another component, or if the part is dropped.
Scratches on painted surfaces
If the parts have long or deep scratches, or the metal is visible underneath the paint, then carry out the process shown in the following steps.
Deep scratches
Anything worse than a slight blemish, such as a scratch or a larger area
of non-uniformity in the nish, will take more work to repair.
Larger marks or scratches
Obtain some micro-mesh abrasive cloth,
which acts like wet-and-dry sandpaper
but is made of a synthetic fabric. It
enables you to work on curved areas
with ease.
Cut some micro-mesh cloth to a suitable
size.
Soak the cloth in water, and lightly
polish the part’s surface.
If you drop the parts, there is a chance
that they could become scratched deep
enough to reveal the metal below.
