The doors of the Countach may have been
basic in terms of storage space and panelling,
but they weren’t basic in operation: instead
of simply swinging open on hinges, they
lifted straight up and tilted forwards. This
allowed them to be made bigger, and so
created a larger opening for people to get in
and out of the low-slung car.

Wrap some ne micro-mesh abrasive cloth
around a sanding block. Then lightly work over
the newly painted parts to smooth them. When
the surface of the new paint is level with the
original paintwork, polish it with some ner
micro-mesh abrasive cloth.
Locate any aected areas, then paint over
them with the matching paint. Give the
surface a few coats to ensure an even
coverage, then leave until completely dry.

Use tweezers to place the new
plaque, supplied with this stage,
into the position shown here.
Locate the plaque on the left side of the chassis, and
slide the pointed tip of a craft knife under one end of it.
Slide the blade along the underside of the plaque to
remove it from the chassis. Be careful not to scrape the
paint from the chassis when doing this.
A
B
Stages 62 and 63 showed you how to x any scratches in the paintwork, but you may
nd that there are also some bubbles or raised areas of paint. You can use the paints
listed in Stages 62 and 63 to x these areas.
In Stage 65, you were instructed to t the plaque to the chassis. The plaque was,
unfortunately, tted a little too far forward of the point at which it would be on the real
Countach. A replacement plaque has been supplied with this stage. When removing the
original plaque and tting the replacement, take care not to damage the model.
