with the appropriate installation alternative (see adjacent
Ordering key).
Water trap
The heat exchanger is provided with two 32 mm o.d.
drain connections. Connect each of these to its own
EUAZ-08 water trap or an equivalent water trap with a
depth of at least 100 mm (see Fig. 1). Run the pipe from
the water trap without reduction in diameter and with a
continuous slope to a floor gulley. The EUAZ-08 is in-
tended for sub-atmospheric pressure.

Damper control
The damper is designed so that the by-pass section and
the shut-off section comprise part of the same damper.
When the by-pass is open, the shut-off section is closed
and vice versa.
Check that the damper closes at its respective limits of
travel.
Shut-off and by-pass dampers (d = 1, 3)
The by-pass and shut-off dampers of the heat exchanger are
mechanically interconnected by means of connecting rods.
As one of the damper closes, the other simultaneously
opens. Check that each damper is closed at the limit of
its travel.
During the summer, the entire supply air flow can be
by-passed across the heat exchanger in order to avoid un-
desirable heat recovery and fouling of the heat exchanger.

exchanger with section defrosting d = 2
Connecting the motor actuator
Fit the actuator motor to the by-pass blade nearest to the
heat exchanger. As an example, a heat exchanger which
has two blades as by-pass section should have the actua-
tor motor fitted to the second shaft viewed from the
inspection side.
Fig. 4
Fig. 3
Section defrosting (d = 2)
The heat exchanger is equipped with a by-pass damper
and a combined defrosting and shut-off valve together
with an actuator, control unit and temperature sensor.
The defrosting and shut-off damper consists of a num-
ber of separately operated dampers. These are located
upstream of the heat exchanger on the outdoor air side.
During the defrosting period, one damper section at a
time closes for 15 minutes.
The by-pass damper is closed. After a complete defros-
ting cycle (1 hour) the heat exchanger reverts to normal
operation for 90 minutes before a new defrosting cycle
starts.
Since only a small part of the heat exchanger is shut off,
the supply air flow rate will be reduced by a maximum of
5–10% during the defrosting period itself. The reduction
in the air flow rate is dependent on the fan type and the
operating point of the fan.
