SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Make sure to read the safety guidelines and recommendations in the UPS
unit's complete operating manual before commencing any connecting
operations.
REQUIREMENTS CONCERNING THE PREPARATION OF
THE POWER SUPPLY AND RECEIVING INSTALLATION
A) Transport requirement
CAUTION! Pay extra attention during the transport, unloading and
installation of the unit.
The UPS units must be transported in the position indicated on the packaging.
The device must be protected against weather conditions (rain).
Prolonged transportation and storage in temperatures below 0
C and above
25
C is not recommended, because it may shorten the battery's lifespan and
there is possibility of water vapour condensation.
The device's considerable weight and dimensions require adequate transport
conditions (sufficient number of workers, a forklift truck, a communication
pathway).
CAUTION! Contact the service department if any damage that might
affect the operation of the device is identified.
B) Location
CAUTION! The user is responsible for selecting the place of installation
and adequate working conditions.
It is recommended to install the UPS in a separate room (a working device emits
a monotonous sound and should be protected from unauthorized access).
The device should not be exposed to excessively low or high temperature,
because this may shorten the lifespan of batteries (optimal temperature is
18 ÷ 25 ºC).
The device should not be installed in rooms where dust, caustic or inflammable
atmosphere is present or in high humidity (the humidity is recommended to be

below 90%, with no condensation).
If the device is to be installed in the attic or on raised floor, the load bearing of
such structures must also be taken into account when selecting the place of
installation.
The floor's structure must prevent the device from collapsing.
The device's ventilation openings must not be covered.
The following clearances around the device are recommended:
- 0.8 m from each side - for devices not fixed to the floor,
- 1.0 m from each side - for devices fixed to the floor.
The room where batteries are installed must be adequately ventilated (also
applies to UPS units with external batteries).
CAUTION! The required air flow for ventilating the room

C) Power supply and receiving installation
The design and the installation itself must only be made by properly qualified
personnel.
CAUTION! The user shall provide anti-shock protection pursuant to the
local legal requirements.
CAUTION! Copper wire tips must not be used when connecting the PE
circuit to the UPS.
The UPS unit's power supply and receiving circuits must be separated.
It is recommended that the sockets for the guaranteed, isolated network are
differentiated in relation to the basic network.
Copper wires in high-strength insulation (e.g. sheathed cables) should be used for
the section between the UPS and the closest power distribution board or a similar
level of protection should be provided by means of other technical solutions (e.g.
installation trays or corrugated conduits).

CAUTION! Connecting to the installation for the first time and the first
start-up must be done only by the authorized service. Failure to observe
this condition voids the warranty.
The method of selecting protection devices, the sections of wires and the required
disconnecting devices to be installed in the UPS unit's switching board are
specified in tables showing installation guidelines.
Due to operating and service reasons it is recommended to make an external
service bypass that is topologically consistent with the connection diagram of a
given UPS model (operating manual of the external bypass). Providing such a
system allows servicing the UPS without interrupting the supply to the devices!
Depending on the UPS unit, the installation should use 3 or 5 wires.

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
The UPS unit's weight should be taken into account when choosing the installation
location. The UPS should only be used in rooms where the dust, temperature and
humidity conditions conform to the unit’s specification. Proper cooling conditions
must be provided to ensure the UPS unit’s correct operation. Consequently, the UPS
unit’s ventilating openings must be always uncovered and the distance between the
UPS and other items should be no less than 50 cm (minimal requirements for specific
models are presented in Table 1 and Table 2).
Parameters relevant for installation guidelines for specific UPS models are presented
in Table 1 and Table 2.
CAUTION! The UPS must not be installed near inflammable materials!
Once the UPS is placed in its target location, use the adjustable feet to fix the unit in
place. To do this, remove the feet by turning them clockwise with a wrench. Make
sure that all four feet are at the same height and that the UPS cannot be moved.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
Depending on whether a bypass line is used, the electrical installation should be
done according to the diagram in Fig. 1 or Fig. 2.
* If a non-factory module is used, a fuse must be applied in the positive and negative
pole lines, as per Table 3.

Markings used on installation diagrams:
Fm, Fb, Fsb – switch fuses,
Qout, Qsb – switch disconnectors,
PP1, PP2, PP3 – emergency power off keys (EPO),
A, B, C, D – connecting wires.
The Fb switch fuse is installed only if a bypass input is used.
The battery stand should be connected to the POWERLINE DARK 33 60-200 kVA
UPS according to the diagram in Fig. 3.

The UPS has been designed to operate in a TN installation.
The listed requirements apply for a local UPS switching board
placed directly on the device. Local requirements should be
observed when selecting wire sections.
CAUTION! Only trained personnel may switch the power supply to the
external bypass. Failure to observe the prescribed switching procedure
may damage the UPS. The description of operation of the external
bypass is found in a separate document “Operating Manual for External
Bypass for POWERLINE DARK 33 UPS Units 10-200 kVa”.

TECHNICAL ACCEPTANCE
The following activities must be performed when commissioning the installed device,
in the presence of a person authorized to perform the acceptance:
Measuring the voltage of batteries.
Measuring the output voltage in the mains mode.
Testing the transition of the UPS from the mains mode to the battery mode,
ensuring the continuity of supplying power to the recipients (the tests should be
performed at the target load of the guaranteed circuit, if possible).
Measuring the output voltage in the battery mode.
If a bypass was made, the personnel appointed by the UPS buyer should be
trained in its operation.
The technical acceptance should be confirmed with an acceptance protocol and
the required documentation (warranty, operating manual) should be provided to
the buyer.
