SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Cut along the edges of the square cut-
outs in the template to create the first
two gun ports.
Use a weak adhesive to stick the
template to the two strips glued to the
frames in Step A. The edge closest
to the end of the template (arrowed)
should be no more than 1mm away
from the side of the rib.
Glue another 90mm length of 2 x 5mm
strip above the first two.

SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Remove the template and sand the
outer surfaces of the strips smooth.
Cut away the sections of the upper
strip, following the template.
Cut three pieces of 4 x 4mm wooden
strip, 90mm in length. Glue them on
top of each other, above the brown
planks. They will overlap the 2 x 5mm
strips slightly.

Cut three 12mm lengths of 2 x 7mm
wooden strip, and glue them between
the walls at the sides of the gun ports.
Cut two 10mm lengths of 2 x 7mm strip
and glue between the inner and outer
walls, perfectly aligned with the bottoms
of the gun ports. You may need to file
the inner walls so that they are aligned
with the strips.

should look at this stage. Keep any left-
over material, as it will be used later.

SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Cut two 90mm lengths of 2 x 5mm
wooden strip and glue them on top
of the step in the frame. Then cut out
template B-1 from the sheet, and use
a weak adhesive to stick it to the two
90mm strips. Cut along the sides and
bottoms of the squares in the template.
Glue another 90mm length of 2 x 5mm
strip above the first two and cut the
remaining part of the template out of
this strip. Then cut three pieces of
4 x 4mm wooden strip, 90mm in
length, and glue them on top of each
other, above the brown planks. They
will overlap the 2 x 5mm strips slightly.

SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Cut lengths of 2 x 5mm brown wooden
strip to fit along the inner wall without
covering the gun ports.
Cut two 10mm lengths of 2 x 7mm
strip and glue between the inner and
outer walls, aligned with the bottoms
of the gun ports. File the inner walls
if necessary. Then cut three 12mm
lengths of 2 x 7mm wooden strip and
glue them between the walls at the sides
of the gun ports.
Cut a 90mm length of 3 x 3mm
wooden strip and glue in line with the
bottoms of the notches in the ribs. To
fill the gap below the 3 x 3mm strip,
cut a 2 x 5mm strip to the correct
thickness, then divide into three parts
so that it doesn’t block the gun ports.
Repeat this so that both sides are at the
same stage.

SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Remove the six knees from the parts
sheet received with Stage 53. Smooth
them with sandpaper and stain them.
Stain the beams in the same way.
Cut three lengths of 3 x 3mm wooden
strip to fit between the ribs. Glue them
into place as shown, with one centred
between the other two.
Glue three knees on either side, up
against the walls and below the beams.

SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Test-fit the columns underneath the
beams and up against the strips in the
centre. Adjust their height if necessary
and then stain them. Glue them into
position once the stain has dried.
Cut four 19mm lengths of 4 x 4mm
wooden strip and shape the central
section a few millimetres in from either
end, as with previous columns.

should look at this stage. Keep any left-
over material, as it will be used later.

SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Test-fit the ladder in the square hole in
the uppermost deck. Adjust the length
to match the one shown in the photo,
then stain as with the other parts. Glue
into position.
Glue the seven 10mm lengths into the
remaining slots in the ladder.
Glue 1 x 3mm wooden strips over
the two deck halves received with
previous stages. When dry, cut away
any overlapping strips and smooth
the edges and upper surface with
sandpaper.

SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: Step by Step
Glue a mast support square over the
hole in the deck, making sure the holes
are aligned. Then cut two lengths of
2 x 5mm brown wooden strip to fit
along the inner sides of the square hole.
Test-fit and adjust the deck halves
to fit between the ribs on top of the
beams. Glue into place, ensuring that
the mast hole is aligned with those of
the lower decks.
Glue a 2 x 3mm wooden strip at both
sides of the two strips and the mast
support square. Cut another two
lengths of 2 x 5mm strip and glue in
the square between those from the
previous step. Cut another length of
2 x 3mm strip to fit between the two
longer strips, up against the edge of the
rectangular cut-out. Glue one of the
4 x 6 gratings in the cut-out, at the same
height as the surrounding strips.

when all parts are dry, and then stain as
with the previous decks.
Glue a 90mm-long, 2 x 3mm strip
at either side of the deck, up against

Smooth the surfaces of the barrels
received in previous despatches, and
then paint with clear varnish.
When dry, paint the barrels with the
same wood stain used on the rest of
the model. You may want to wipe
away some of the stain to prevent them
becoming too dark.

When the sides are glued in place,
fold the open ends in and glue them in
place. To achieve a more realistic look,
paint the canvas with a diluted solution
of wood stain.
Place one of the 15 x 15 x 20mm
blocks in the centre of one of the 60
x 70mm sections of canvas. Fold over
one of the 60mm sides, apply glue,
then fold the other side over and
glue down.

around the block, as shown, and loop
the ends over each other where they
meet.

centre of the block.
