Storage & Installation
Only STERIS personnel should install the device.
Prior to installation, store and ship the video switch in a dry location. See “Storage Temperature” in
“Specifications” on page 14
Take care when lifting this device. Use proper safety precautions to protect against injury.
Do not modify or tamper with AC power line.
Don’t place anything on top of the unit. Make sure there’s enough room around the sides to vent any heat and
nothing blocks the fan vent inlet holes.

Location

Overview
The HV1000 Video Switch routes both 4K and HD video signals. It comes with a touch panel that lets you easily
route a source (such as a camera) to a destination (such as a display). The base unit fits on a desktop, on a wall,
or in a standard-sized rack. The touch-panel screen can be placed on a wall or desk. The 4x3 model has four
inputs (two 4K HDMI and two HD fiber optic) and three outputs (all 4K fiber optic). The 6x6 model has six inputs
(two 4K HDMI, two HD fiber optic, and two 4K fiber optic) and six outputs (all 4K fiber optic).

Using the Touch Panel
Using the touch panel that comes with the HV1000 Video Switch, you can route video from a source to a
destination, as well as edit the lists of sources and destination. These settings are automatically saved when
there’s been no activity at the touch screen for 15 seconds. They’re restored when you restart the base unit.
Here are the buttons on the interface, in both portrait and landscape mode:

Routing Video
To view the status of a source or destination: The Source and Destination buttons have indicator lights
that can tell you their status.*
To view which destinations are displaying a source:
No Indicator: The source or monitor is not connected.
Red Indicator: If it’s a source, it’s connected but no signal is present. If it’s a
destination, it’s connected but no video is routed to the display.
Green Indicator: If it’s a source, it’s connected and a signal is present. If it’s a
display, it’s connected and video is routed to it.
* If you have a STERIS A-Series Surgical Lighting System HD with an In-Light Camera that’s connected to a fiber-optic input, that camera’s
source button does not show its status.
Tap the source.
All highlighted destination buttons are for destinations that are currently displaying
the source. All dimmed destination buttons are not.
To route a source to a destination:
1. Tap the source.
All source and destination buttons are dimmed, except for the source you tapped
and any destination that is already displaying that source
2. Tap the destination to display it on.
You can tap more than one destination.
To route another source, tap the source and then tap one or more destinations.
When you’ve finished routing video, tap the highlighted source again or wait a few
seconds for the buttons return to their original color.

1. Tap Add .
A list of unused sources and destinations appear.
If no list appears, there are no unused sources or destinations available to add. If you
are using the HV1000 Video Switch 4x3 model, there is a maximum of 4 sources and
3 destinations.
2. Tap the source or destination to add.
3. Tap Confirm .
The new source or destination is now available for routing.
1. Tap Delete .
2. Tap the source or destination to delete.
3. Tap Delete .
The deleted source or destination is longer be available for routing. To re-add the
source or destination, see “To add a source or destination” on page 11.

3. Using the on-screen keypad, enter the name.
If you see the AZERTY keyboard, you can enter an accented letter by tapping an
accent key and then tapping the letter.

Tap the STERIS logo at the top of the touch screen.
The firmware version numbers for the touch screen and base unit are at the bottom of the screen, and the
STERIS logo appears in the center.
To return to the routing screen, tap anywhere on the screen.

To keep the touch panel and base unit in good condition, you need to regularly maintain them.
Maintaining the Touch Panel
The covering on the touch panel’s display is soft and easily scratched. Do not tap, touch, or rub it with glass
instruments, metal instruments, or anything else harder than pencil lead. Avoid touching it with anything greasy.
Do not set anything on top of it or attach anything to it. Wipe any liquid off it immediately.
If the display is smudged, wipe it with a soft dry cloth. If the display is dirty, moisten a soft dry cloth with either
isopropyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol and gently wipe it. Do not scrub hard.
The following substances are especially damaging and must be avoided:
