SUPPORT BRACE FOR ROUND DUCTS OR INSULATED RECTANGULAR DUCTS
Drill a hole
Ø 51 mm.
The installation support brace can even be attached
to ducts that are only 100mm in diameter.
The installation support brace can
be easily shaped to fit a round or
rectangular duct.
The installation support brace is
delivered straight.

FINAL INSPECTION
• Check that the air flow direction markings in the smoke detector
mounting flange and on the casing are in line with the duct
airflow.
• Check that the test hole is properly plugged using the rubber
plug supplied.
• Check that the flow indicator moves with the airflow, thus verify-
ing that the airflow is correct for the smoke detector.
• It is recommended that you verify that the smoke detector’s fire
alarm works by leading smoke from a smoke generator directly
into the air duct and making sure that the smoke detector trig-
gers an alarm.
CONNECTION
The smoke detector is to be connected into a FICO fire damper
control system FICO PRO or FICO MINI control unit, or a FCBB-2
or FCBB-4 connection box, in accordance with the connection
diagram supplied:

To avoid induction coupling disturbances, the smoke detector cable
must always be installed separately from the power cables. The
recommended max. length of the cable is 15 m, and the cable
must not exceed 30 m in any circumstance.
PLEASE NOTE: If using a FDKC (UG-3-O) smoke detector connected
to a FICO system, a 2.2 kΩ terminal resistor must always be fitted to
the smoke detector.
CLEANING
The smoke detector may be cleaned using a soft, lint free cloth or
by blowing it using clean compressed air. It is recommended that
you replace extremely dirty smoke detectors
TROUBLESHOOTING
The smoke detector activates an alarm without smoke.
• The smoke detector is defective, the sensor chamber is dirty
or there is moisture condensed in it. Clean the detector sensor
chamber according to instructions or replace the extremely dirty
detection component, if necessary.
The FICO control system triggers a service alarm or a fire alarm, al-
though the smoke detector is not triggering one.
• Check that there is a terminal resistor fitted to the smoke detec-
tor. If there are multiple detectors in the detection circuit, only
the last smoke detector must be fitted with a terminal resistor.
• Check that the detection circuit resistance equals 2.2 kΩ.
• Check that the FICO control system smoke detector output is
working by detaching the smoke detector wires and attaching a
2.2 kΩ resistor directly to the smoke detector output.
• Use a multimeter to check that the smoke detector pins 1(-) and
2(+) receive a ~18 VDC input voltage. The polarity of the input
voltage matters, so make sure that the wires are connected the
right way around.
