TESTING AND INSPECTIONS
INITIAL INSPECTION
1. First measures
Turn the control unit fuses to position 1.
Turn the safety switches to position 1.
Turn the control panel switches to position 0.
Make the control unit live.
Reset the pressure transmitter to read 0 Pa.
Check that only the green “Operation” LED on the relay unit is on.
Check that the frequency converter is in the Auto/On mode and does
not display any error messages.
The yellow “Service” LED on the control panel should now be on.
Turn the PRESSURISATION switch on the control panel to position
AUT. The green STANDBY light should come on.
2. Checking the operation of the hatches
Open the hatches by turning switch S3, inside the control unit, to po-
sition 1. If the hatches will not open, check if the safety switch is in
position 0 or if the cable to the linear motors is connected incorrectly.
Return the switch to position 0: the hatches should close.
3. Checking the operation of smoke exhaust
Open a compensation air hatch or the entrance door e.g. to prevent
windows from being damaged.
Turn the SMOKE EXHAUST switch to position 1.
The red SMOKE EXHAUST light on the control panel should come on.
The hatches of the fan unit open.
In approximately 20 seconds, the fan will start running at full speed.
Check that air starts flowing out of the stairwell. If the air flows in the
wrong direction, the two phase conductors of the fan motor cable
should change places.
Turn the SMOKE EXHAUST switch to position 0. Only the STANDBY
light should come on.
4. Checking the operation of pressurisation
Close all doors to the stairwell.
Start pressurisation by turning the PRESSURISATION switch on the
control panel to position MAN. Alternatively, with the PRESSURISA-
TION switch in position AUT, pressurisation can be activated from an
external system or by triggering a smoke detector using test gas.
The red PRESSURISATION light on the control panel should come on.
The hatches of the fan unit open.
In approximately 20 seconds, the fan will start running and air will
start flowing into the stairwell. If the flow of air is in the wrong direc-
tion, the two phase conductors of the fan motor cable should change
places.
The frequency converter works, based on the pressure difference
measured by the pressure transmitter, to maintain the pressure with-
in the stairwell higher, by 50 (± 5) Pa, than the pressure of the air
outside.
If the pressure will not rise, check the transmitter hoses and make
sure all doors are properly closed.
If there are significant fluctuations in pressure, see the instructions
for tuning the pressure controller.
The intended air release path has to be kept open during testing to
reduce vibrating.
With the PRESSURISATION switch in position AUT, reset the relay
unit, in the control unit, using the RESET button. The fan will stop, and
the hatches will close.
HALF-YEARLY INSPECTIONS
• Check the operation of smoke exhaust and pressurisation using the
control panel switches (see Initial inspection).
ANNUAL INSPECTIONS
• Carry out the measures described under Initial inspection.
• Check that the hatches of the fan unit open without trouble. Re-
move any obstructions. On the hatch opening motors, the following
should be checked:
1. Security of motor mountings
2. Protection against moisture
3. Operation (testing) and electrical connections of the motors
• Also check that the hinges of the hatches are properly secured,
that the water drain is clean, and that the seals are tight. Replace
seals as necessary.
• Check the condition of the transmitter hoses. Replace hoses as
necessary.
• For resetting the pressure transmitter the hoses need to be de-
tached from the transmitter. See installation of pressure transmit-
ter.
