CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE SYSTEM FICO-MINI
GENERAL
Installation must be carried out by authorized personnel.
The FICO-MINI monitoring system consists of the control unit FICO-MINI,
the multiboxes FCBB-2 and FCBB-4, these components contain elec-
tronic components that can be damaged if handled incorrectly.
The system FICO-MINI is performed with auto-addressing, when the
system starts, it detects how many damper motors and smoke detec-
tors are connected.
Before the device is powered up, all external installations shall be com-
pleted.
The control unit FICO-MINI, the multiboxes FCBB-2 and FCBB-4 should
be mounted with 4 screws into the holes located under the housing
cover to ensure protection class IP54.
The control unit FICO-MINI is capable to handle 1-4 air dampers and 1-2
smoke detectors with individual indicator. The system can be extend-
ed up to max. 12 damper actuator and 6 smoke detectors by using the
multiboxes FCBB-2 and FCBB-4. The multiboxes are supplied with 230V
AC and communicate with the control unit FICO-MINI via a communi-
cation cable. Up to two multiboxes can be connected to a control unit
FICO-MINI.
INPUTS FICO-MINI
Supply voltage 230V AC, 6 A, terminal L, N and PE.
Example of electric cable type: EQQ3G1.5.
OUTPUTS FICO-MINI
All relay outputs are potential-free contacts, shown in a dead state.
Summation alarm for Fire alarm (marked FIRE) in the FICO-MINI. Max
load 230V AC, 6 A resistive load.
Summation alarm contacts for Service alarm (marked SERVICE) in the
FICO-MINI. Max. load 230V AC, 6A resistive load.
Relay contacts for interlocking of fans (marked FAN A) in the FICO-MINI.
Max load 230V AC, 6 A resistive load.
Example of electric cable type: EQQ3x1.5.
DAMPER ACTUATORS
The damper actuators are connected to the central unit FICO-MINI or/
and the multiboxes FCBB-2/FCBB-4. Up to max.12 actuators with in-
dividual indication can be connected to the system. In the control unit
FICO-MINI and in the multibox FCBB-4, four damper actuators can be
connected. In the multibox FCBB-2 two damper actuators can be con-
nected.
The supply voltage to the damper actuators is connected to FICO-MINI
and the multiboxes FCBB-2/FCBB-4 on terminals G and G0 (marked
DAMPER). Indication for closed damper is connected to terminal S2,
G0 is used as common conductor (marked DAMPER) and indication for
open damper is connected to terminal S6, G0 is used as common con-
ductor (marked DAMPER). See section Installation on pages 10-12.
S3 and S5 are not used and shall be insulated.
SMOKE DETECTORS
The Smoke detectors are connected to the control unit FICO-MINI, the
multiboxes FCBB2 / FCBB-4 and up to 6 smoke detectors with individu-
al indication. In to the FICO-MINI, FCBB-4 and FCBB-2 two smoke detec-
tors can be connected.
With FICO-MINI and FCBB-4 you can choose between two alternative
smoke detectors Calectro UG-3-O (duct) or EVC-PY-DA (room). With
FCBB-2 you can choose between three alternative smoke detectors Ca-
lectro UG-3-O (duct), EVC-PY-DA (room) or SOS2.xx (duct).
The supplied 2.2 kOhm resistor must be connected to the UG-3-O and
EVC-PY-DA.
OPERATING OF FANS
The control unit FICO-MINI has one relay output (one group) for inter-
locking fans marked FAN A. In de-energized state and in case of alarm,
the contact is open (NO).
CONNECTION OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN FICO-MINI AND
THE MULTIBOXES FCBB-2/FCBB-4
The control unit FICO-MINI has two terminals for connecting communi-
cation wires between control unit FICO-MINI and the multiboxes FCBB-
2/FCBB-4 (marked LINK). Max. two multiboxes can be connected.
The FICO-MINI can be used in conjunction with two FCBB-4, one FCBB-2
and one FCBB-4 or two FCBB-2.
Type of electric cable:
FQAR-PG 2x2x0.5 or equivalent
CONNECTION OF COMMUNICATION TO THE CENTRAL
CONTROL AND MONITORING SYSTEM
In the control unit FICO-MINI there are terminals for connecting commu-
nication wiring (marked BMS) to a higher-level control and monitoring
system (Modbus RTU485).
EXTERNAL INPUTS
In the control unit FICO-MINI there are two inputs for external interlock-
ing.
Input for external fire alarm (EXT):
In case of the external fire alarm is triggered, the dampers are closed
and fan interlocking is activated, possibility to acknowledge the external
fire alarm only after it has been reset.
These terminals are normally factory jumpered.
Input for external interlocking (INT):
Dampers are closed and fan interlocking is activated. Normal status re-
turns when the interlocking is removed.
These terminals are normally factory jumpered.
Input for external test (TST):
An external pushbutton can be connected to perform damper actuator
test.

COMMISSIONING
CONTROL UNIT FICO-MINI (FIRST COMMISSIONING)
Symbols shown in FICO-MINI:
Use the ENTER key to activate the row (value) that you want to
change.
Use the esc key to go back one step.

Use the arrow keys to move up and down in menus and to
change the values.
The communication between the control unit FICO-MINI and
multiboxes FCBB-2 or FCBB-4 is working.
Indicates which unit of those shown on the display has functioning
communication.
The communication between the control unit FICO-MINI and
multiboxes FCBB-2 or FCBB-4 is NOT working (interrupted).
No damper is connected to the FICO-MINI, FCBB-2 or FCBB-4.
A damper is connected to the FICO-MINI, FCBB-2 or FCBB-4 and it
indicates CLOSED position.
A damper is connected to the FICO-MINI, FCBB-2 or FCBB-4 and it
is moving.
A damper is connected to the FICO-MINI, FCBB-2 or FCBB-4 and it
indicates OPEN position.
There is NO smoke detector connected to FICO-MINI, FCBB-2 or
FCBB-4.
There is a smoke detector connected to FICO-MINI, FCBB-2 or
FCBB-4.
If the smoke detector is triggered, these symbols are displayed
alternately on the control unit FICO-MINI.

Here you can see the status of the multibox FCBB-4.
A damper is connected and it indicates open position. A smoke
detector is connected and it is not in alarm mode.
Commissioning
1Before starting with the control unit FICO-MINI settings, all
installations of peripheral components shall be completed. See
Chapter 4.
2FICO-MINI has automatic reading of connected damper actuators
and smoke detectors.
3Switch on the control unit FICO-MINI.
4Press the ARROW UP and ARROW DOWN keys simultaneously to
access the QUICK INSTALL startup menu.
5Available languages: English, Swedish,Suomi,Dansk,German.
6First press ENTER to select the language.
7Use the ARROW UP key to switch to desired language. Then press
ENTER.
8Press the ARROW DOWN key and then press ENTER to set the
year using the ARROW keys. Change to the correct year and then
press ENTER.
9Press the ARROW DOWN key and then press ENTER.
10 Press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN keys to set the correct
month and then press ENTER.
11 Press the ARROW DOWN key and thereafter press ENTER to set
the day.
12 Press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN keys to set the correct day
and then press ENTER.

CONTROL UNIT FICO-MINI (FIRST COMMISSIONING)
13 Press the ARROW DOWN key to set the hour.
14 Press ENTER and then press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN keys
to set the correct hour and then press ENTER.
15 Press the ARROW DOWN to set the minutes.
16 Press ENTER and then press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN keys
to set the correct minutes and then press ENTER.
17 Press the ARROW DOWN key to set the damper test interval. 1-180
days.
18 Press ENTER and then press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN keys
to select the desired damper test interval. Then press ENTER.
19 Press the ARROW DOWN key to select the first day for the damper
test.
It is only possible to choose test day if the test interval is 7, 14, 21,
28 days, etc. This means whole weeks.
20 Press ENTER and then press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN
keys to select the first day for your damper test cycle. Then press
ENTER.
21 Press the ARROW DOWN key to set the time that the damper test
will take place in hours.
22 Press ENTER and then press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN keys
to set the hour for the damper test. Then press ENTER.
23 Press the ARROW DOWN key to set the minutes.
24 Press ENTER and then press the ARROW UP / ARROW DOWN keys
to select the minutes. Then press ENTER.

25 Press the ARROW DOWN key and then ENTER.
26 Press the ARROW UP key.
27 Exit the Quick Start by pressing ENTER.
The plant starts and is now running.
28 Now the Quick Start is complete.
Press ESC twice to access the main menu.
29 In the main menu you will see the clock and how long time is left
to the next damper test.
In this case, it is five days, 20 hours and 23 minutes.
30 Press ENTER.
Here you can see the control unit FICO-MINI and how many
multiboxes FCBB-2/4 that are connected to the system.
31 Press ENTER to check each unit separately.
32 Press ESC and then ENTER to access the control unit FICO-MINI.
33 Press ESC, ARROW DOWN and then ENTER to access the device
2 (FCBB-4).
34 Press ESC, ARROW DOWN and then ENTER to access the device
3 (FCBB-2).

OPERATION
ALARMS
The FICO mini include an event system. Every unexpected event like fire
alarm, damper failure or extrernal alarm add an event to the built in log.
1Press the ARROW DOWN and select the alarm icon
2Press ENTER to open alarms menu.
3Press ENTER again to reset the alarm. The system will ask if you
want to reset the alarm or not. Press ENTER to continue.
