ECL 2000 is available in two versions with different input/output configurations.
ECL 2000 Type 1 has 14 preprogrammed applications designed as 14 standard
system setups and type 2 has 17 preprogrammed applications.
The purpose of this installation manual is:
To describe how to install and configure ECL 2000, and
To provide the installer with system and wiring diagrams for each application
and type.
For a detailed description of regulation and setting parameters, see ECL 2000

Cable Knockouts
The base plate is provided with a number of knockouts for cable entry. The neces-
sary knockouts are removed, and cables and wires are entered through the removed
knockouts to establish connection to the terminal blocks.
Figure 3 shows the ECL 2000’s base plate.
Figure 3. Base plate – bottom, front, side and rear view
Cable Fixation
For fixation of cables entered through knockouts, you can use the diaphragm nip-
ples enclosed in the packing.
Alternatively, use cable glands as follows:
Cable gland PG9 (knockout ø16)
Cable gland PG11 (knockout ø19).

The ECL 2000 can be mounted in three different ways: on wall, in panel, and on
DIN rail.
The controller comes with a Quick Guide which must be attached to the inside of
controller’s door (see Figure 6 on page 6).
 :DOO0RXQWLQJ
For mounting on wall, you use a base plate with associated case (code no.
087B8099).
Note:
When deciding where to place the controller, remember that you must leave suffi-
cient space for cable installation.
1.
Place the base plate on the wall and accurately mark the positions of the
three fixing holes. Remember that the arrow on the inside of the base
plate must point upwards (see Figure 4).
Figure 4. ECL 2000 base plate with fixing hole positions and terminal blocks fitted
2.
When all three holes are drilled, the base plate can be fixed with the three
ø3 screws.
3.
Fit the terminal blocks to the back plate and connect wires (for informa-
tion on electrical connections, see page 11).
4.
Mount the case.
5.
Position the controller in the case as shown in Figure 5.

 5HPRYDO)URPWKH&DVH
To remove the controller from the case:
1.
Remove the fixing screw (see Figure 6).
2.
Hold the controller by the edge of the front panel and carefully work the
controller backwards and forwards to loosen the connectors on the con-
troller’s rear side from the terminal blocks.

 3DQHO0RXQWLQJ
For panel mounting you must use a cutout of 92 x 138 mm. The maximum sheet
thickness of the front plate is 3 mm (see Figure 7).
1.
Fit four retainer springs on the controller before mounting.
The retainer springs are available as accessories (code no. 087B3076).
This set consists of four springs and two terminal blocks.
2.
Make the electrical connections to the loose terminal blocks.
3.
Insert the controller into the panel cutout (see Figure 7).
Figure 7. Panel mounting
4.
Fit the terminal blocks to the connectors on the controller’s rear side as
shown in Figure 8.
The terminal blocks are coded to prevent mains voltage section from be-
ing connected to low-voltage section.

 5HPRYDO)URPWKH3DQHO
When the controller is mounted in a panel cutout, the easiest way to remove it is to
depress the retainer springs from the rear and press the controller out of the cutout
(see Figure 7, page 7). If there is no access to the rear of the controller, it can be
tilted out of the cutout by inserting a screwdriver in the two recesses provided at
both ends of the unit. Then carefully turn the screwdriver to twist the controller out
of the panel.

The controller can be mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail.
1.
Fit the spring to the rear of the base plate before mounting on the DIN
rail (see Figure 9).
The spring is available as an accessory (code no. 087B3077).

2.
Fasten the base plate on the DIN rail.
3.
Connect wires to the terminal blocks.
4.
Mount the case.
5.
Position the controller in the case.

This chapter provides a general overview of the electrical connections to the
ECL 2000. Detailed information about wiring of individual heating systems (appli-
cations) is provided in Chapter 5 starting on page 19.

or corresponding wires can be connected to each ter-
minal. The terminal blocks are coded to prevent terminal blocks with mains voltage
being connected to sensor terminals.
If more than 3 wires need to be connected to the same terminal, use the loop termi-
nals provided on the inside of the base plate (see Figure 10, page 12).

Note:
When choosing cable type and dimension for installation, local government regu-
lations and applicable international directives must be observed at all times.
Note:
Wire resistance can cause measurement error. For example, a resistance of 4
cor-
responds to a measured temperature increase of about 1 degree.
