4 Installation and preparation for use
a Carefullyinspecttheelectrodeondeliveryformechanical
damagetothemembraneortheshaft.Electrodesshowing
anydefectsshouldbesentbackintheoriginalpackaging,
accompaniedbytherelativeinvoicenumber.
b Removethewateringcapandrinseelectrodewithdistilled
water. After rinsing, a pH electrode unit should be dried
bycarefuldabbingwithapaperhandkerchieforKleenex
tissue.Donotrubtheglassmembrane,sincethiscanlead
toverysluggishresponse.
c Removeanyairbubblespresentinthemembranechamber
oftheglasselectrodebylightlyswingingroundinavertical
plane.
d pHelectrodeassemblieswithdryglassmembranesmust
beconditionedbyimmersionforseveralhoursin3mol/l
KClinthesuppliedwateringcap(useapprox.1ml).
5 Calibration and measurement
Xerolytelectrodesrequire2-pointcalibration.Tocalibrate,
rstremovethewateringcap.Theelectrodeisthendipped
insuccessionintotwodifferentbuffersolutionswithgiven
pHreferencevalues,andthetransmittercalibratedtothese
buffervalues(forexamplebufferpH4.01andpH7.00).

details.
6 Maintenance
The electrode with polymer electrolyte Xerolyt cannot be
relled.Theelectrodemustnotbestoreddry.Intheevent
thattheelectrodedriesout,itisnecessarytoreconditionit
beforeusebyimmersioninFriscolyt™(Orderno.51340
053)foratleast24hours.Theelectrodeshouldbestored
withttedwateringcapcontaining3mol/lKClorMettler-
Toledo Friscolyt. After each working cycle, the electrode
tip and the apertures (diaphragms) must be thoroughly
cleanedusingde-ionizedwater.Regenerationoftheglass
membraneofapHelectrodewithHF(hydrouoricacid)is
notrecommended,sinceHFwillattacktheXerolytreference
system.
7 Disposal
Ifnorelativeofcialregulationsareinforce,usedordefecti-
veelectrodeandthepackagingcanbedisposedasordinary
householdwaste.
8 Warranty
Intheeventofmanufacturingfaults,12monthswarranty
fromdateofproductionisgranted.
