1 Introduction
METTLERTOLEDOpuncture-typepHtheelectrodeswithXerolyt
polymer electrolyte are used for direct measurement at pH
infoods, for example fresh or curedmeat, cheeseand sh.
Beforeusingtheelectrode,readinstructionscarefully.
2 Important notes
Onreceipt,checkthatthepHelectrodeisundamagedandin
goodcondition. For further information, ordering and service
(advice),pleaserefertoyoursupplier.
Safety
– Theelectrodestipismadeofglass.Iftheelectrodebreaks,
thereisariskofinjuryandofglasssplintersinthemeasured
material.
– Wearglovesandgoggleswhenhandlingsolutions,e.g.when
attachingthewateringcaplledwithelectrolyte,andwhen
calibratingwithpHbuffersolutions.
3 Connecting the electrode
UseanAS7cabletoconnectthepuncturepHelectrodedirectly
toapHmeterorpHtransmitter (Fig. 4).

Please read the instructionsfor thepH meteror transmitter.
Werecommendcalibratingatthetemperatureofthemeasured
material.ApH/temperaturetableisprintedonthebufferlabel.
Automatic temperature compensationis possible by using a
separatetemperaturesensor.Ifhighlyaccuratemeasurementis
required,inserttheelectrodethematerial3–4minutesbefore
starting to take readings.
