Important information
This upgrade kit is for use within the BMW dealership organisation only.
Target group
The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars
with specialist knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
Work:
All servicing, repair and installation work on BMW cars is completed at your own risk.
All work is to be carried out using current BMW
- Repair manuals
- Circuit diagrams
in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and
safety regulations.
Ordering instructions
Centre console insert
A black insert for the centre console is supplied in the upgrade kit.
An insert for the centre console in other colours for cars with different interior colours can be
ordered if required. See the EPC for all further ordering information.
Safety instructions
The current accident prevention regulations must be followed.
Refer to the safety instructions for handling components of the airbag system. Further
information is available in the TIS in RA No. 32 34 ... If you fail to follow the safety instructions
the airbag system may deploy incorrectly and cause injuries.

5. To install and connect the eject box

Place the WDCT aerial (1) on the holder (2) and
secure it with hexagonal nuts (3).
Connect the aerial cable (4) to the WDCT aerial (1).

Insert the WDCT aerial and holder (1) into the
mounting (2) in the centre console.
Insert speed nuts (3) as shown.

Clip the eject box (1) into the centre console
insert (2).

Clip the centre console insert (1) into the centre
console (2).

hands-free microphone (1).
The arrow on the hands-free microphone (1)
must point to the front of the car.
Clip the hands-free microphone (1) into the trim (2).

7. To register a cordless receiver on the transceiver
To ensure the correct registration of the receiver on the hands-free module
the times listed
below must be observed precisely.
If your times are too long or too short, the receiver will not be registered. In this case the
registration process must be repeated.

- Position the slide switch in the eject box in
position “1”
- Turn the ignition key into position “1”
(terminal R)
- Wait for 15 seconds and then turn the ignition
key to position “0”

- Wait for approx. 2 seconds and then move the
slide switch in the eject box in position “0”

- Wait for a further approx. 2 seconds and
then move the slide switch in the eject box in
position “1”

8. Concluding work and coding
This upgrade system requires coding and must be coded using the “Retrofit” path.
- Complete the coding procedure
- Conduct a brief test with DIS/MoDiC.
- Conduct a function test
- Assemble the car again following the instructions to dismantle it in reverse order.
If necessary, the circuit diagram for the telephone preparation (SA 640) can be taken
from the installation instructions entitled “Telephone upgrade circuit diagrams, part
No. 01 29 0 140 378” on the installation instructions CD.
