2.1.2 Personnel Qualifications
All sequences implemented on WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 devices may only be
carried out by electrical specialists with sufficient knowledge in automation. The
specialists must be familiar with the current norms and guidelines for the devices
and automated environments.
All changes to the coupler or controller should always be carried out by qualified
personnel with sufficient skills in PLC programming.

2.1.3 Use of the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 in Compliance with
Underlying Provisions
Fieldbus couplers, fieldbus controllers and I/O modules found in the modular
WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 receive digital and analog signals from sensors and
transmit them to actuators or higher-level control systems. Using programmable
controllers, the signals can also be (pre-) processed.
The devices have been developed for use in an environment that meets the IP20
protection class criteria. Protection against finger injury and solid impurities up to
12.5 mm diameter is assured; protection against water damage is not ensured.
Unless otherwise specified, operation of the devices in wet and dusty
environments is prohibited.

Operating the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 devices in home applications without
further measures is only permitted if they meet the emission limits (emissions of
interference) according to EN 61000-6-3. You will find the relevant information
in the section “Device Description” > “Standards and Guidelines in the manual
for the used fieldbus coupler/controller.
Appropriate housing (per 2014/34/EU) is required when operating the WAGO-
I/O-SYSTEM 750 in hazardous environments. Please note that a prototype test
certificate must be obtained that confirms the correct installation of the system in
a housing or switch cabinet.

2.1.4 Technical Condition of Specified Devices
The devices to be supplied ex works are equipped with hardware and software
configurations, which meet the individual application requirements. WAGO
Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG will be exempted from any liability in case of
changes in hardware or software as well as to non-compliant usage of devices.
Please send your request for modified and new hardware or software
configurations directly to WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG.

Install the device only in appropriate housings, cabinets or in electrical
operation rooms!
The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 and its components are an open system. As such,
install the system and its components exclusively in appropriate housings,
cabinets or in electrical operation rooms. Allow access to such equipment and
fixtures to authorized, qualified staff only by means of specific keys or tools.

The components are not resistant to materials having seeping and insulating
properties such as: aerosols, silicones and triglycerides (found in some hand
creams). If you cannot exclude that such materials will appear in the component
environment, then install the components in an enclosure being resistant to the

3.4 System Description
VHPready is a cross-manufacturer standard for controlling and linking different
power generation plants to form virtual power plants using the telecontrol
protocol standards IEC 60870-5-104 (Edition 1 and Edition 2). The standard
applies to the communication link between a control center (CC) and a technical
unit (TU). The technical unit consists of a power generation plant and a controller
with an integrated VHPready application.
VHPready standards are applied to guarantee interoperability and security when
linking technical units to control centers. Effort and expense are minimized for the
integration of new technical units. Change-out of a technical unit from one control
center to another one is simplified.
The VHPready application enables easy connection of combined heat and power
plants (CHP), wind turbine farms and solar plants, heat pumps, batteries, electric
heaters, boilers and buffers. Standardized data points for meters and external
signaling contacts also exist.
3.5 Features and Functions
The features and functions of the VHPready application are described below.
Parameterization and diagnostic functions are described in the respective sections.
3.5.1 Operating Modes for Communication with the Control
Center
There are two operating modes:
“104 Multi-Client” operating mode
“104 Multi-Link” operating mode
There is a corresponding figure for each operating mode that illustrates the
respective structure. The highlighted lines (connections) have the following
meaning:

“104 Multi-Client” operating mode:
Up to four control centers can be connected to the VHPready application via
ETHERNET. Any data generated in the VHPready application is
automatically transferred to the actively connected control centers. Each
control center can write data to the VHPready application at the same time.
The data can then be output, e.g., as a setpoint.

Avoid writing to an information object at the same time!
Unexpected behaviors may occur when multiple control centers write setpoints,
timetables and commands to the same information object at the same time!
“104 Multi-Link” operating mode:
Up to four control centers can be connected to the VHPready application via
ETHERNET. In principle, only one of four connections is active at a time.
The other connections are inactive and no user data can be exchanged.
However, the connections are monitored on the link level.

The VHPready application processes commands, setpoints and timetable data
received from the control center (control direction). The data described in the next
section can be output in different ways to a connected power generation plant.
The control center can also receive measured values and messages from the
VHPready application (monitoring direction).

Each VHPready application can manage up to 16 plants. A plant can, for example,
be a combined heat and power plant (CHP) or a photovoltaic power plant. If
several plants of the same type are connected, a unique instance number is
assigned for each.
All parameters are saved in text files on the controller.
3.5.3.1 Connection via Local I/O Modules
Physical signals can be received and sent via connected I/O modules.
The VHPready application scans the internal data bus when the controller is
started. All information objects provided can be assigned to the existing inputs
and outputs and configured using the graphical user interface.

3.5.4 Connection via Modbus TCP
An ETHERNET interface can be used to exchange data between the system and
VHPready application via the Modbus TCP protocol. The VHPready application
functions as a MODBUS slave. All information objects provided can be assigned
to corresponding MODBUS registers and configured using the graphical user
interface.
3.5.5 Connection via PROFIBUS
Data can also be transferred via a PROFIBUS interface if available to the
connected plant. The plant is then connected to the VHPready application via this
interface. The plant functions as the PROFIBUS master and the VHPready
application as the slave.
With this type of application, the VHPready application must be operated on a
controller suitable for PROFIBUS. A CODESYS application is also required to
configure the PROFIBUS interface. Alternatively, all information objects
provided can be mapped to the process image and configured using the graphical
user interface.
3.5.5.1 Integrated Solution: VHPready Application and Plant Control System
on One Controller
The controller can also handle the complete plant control. In this case, the
VHPready and plant applications run together on the same controller. The
VHPready application is available as a CODESYS library.
Communication between control level and controller still occurs via the
VHPready application. Data exchange with the CODESYS application for plant
control is implemented via a global memory range. All information objects
provided can be configured using the graphical user interface and mapped to this
global memory range (see Sec. “VHPready Web Visualization” > … > “Mapping
via Customer-specific CODESYS Application”).
The global memory range to which the VHPready data is mapped is in the
“GLV_VHPready” global variable list and is called “gtyVHPrSharedMem”. It is
of type “tyVHPr_SharedMem” and contains an ARRAY for the binary and analog
values:
