TheMaster/SlaveInterconnectcableeachmaster/slavepairpurchasedcomeswithahighspeedNeutrik12pinMiniCon
connector.Thiscableconnectsthemastercardtotheslavecard.
TheFiberJumperCableForthosepurchasingVIMMY32MT4cardswithasystemof48or64channels,aduplexPVCfiber
cableissuppliedtoconnectthefiber“passthroughs”ontheVIMMY32MT4totheVIMMY32MSTcard.In48or64channel
configurations,(2)mastermodulesarerequired.Thisjumperconnectsonemastercardtotheother.

GettingStarted
ToinstallyourVIMMY32cardspleasefollowthesesteps:
1. PowerdownyourYamahaconsole
2. Setclockmaster/slaveswitchonmastercard(s).ThisswitchisfoundontheVIMMY32M(master)circuitboard.If
theVIMMY32clockontheVIMMY32Misbeingusedasthemainsystemclock,switchthisto“Master”.Ifthe
Yamahaconsoleinternalclockisbeingusedasthemasterclock,setthisswitchto“Slave”
3. InsertcardsintoappropriateYGDAIcardslots,aligningthesidesofthecardwiththewiththesupportguidesinthe
YGDAIslot
4. Connectmaster/slavecardswithsuppliedNeutrikMiniConcable.Toeaseconnectionmakesuresmallsilvertriangle
ontheconnectorbodyis‘up’withrespecttothecardasshown.
5. Connect(ifapplicable)suppliedfiberpassthroughcable(VFC0001DST)betweenVIMMY32MT4andVIMMY32MST
cards.
6. PresstheVIMMY32cardfirmlyinplaceensuringacompleteconnectionbetweenthemultipinbackplaneoftheVIM
MY32cardandtheconsole
7. SecuretheVIMMY32cardwithsuppliedthumbscrews
8. PowerupyourYamahaconsole
9. Checktoseethat“slave”LEDissolidgreen
10. Ensurethatthe“sync”LEDissolidgreen
11. Inputaudiosignalsandcheckforaudioinbothdirections
AdvancedfunctionsoftheLightViperVIMMY32cards(control,clocks,etc.)
UsingYamahacontrolprotocolwiththeLightViperVIMMY32cards
OntheVIMMY32S(slave)card,thereareDB9andRJ45connectors.Theseconnectorsareusedtoinputcontrolfromyour
YamahaintotheLightVipersystemtoremotelycontroldigitalmicrophonepreamplifiers(i.e.YamahaAD8HR,Aphex1788A,
etc.).TheRJ45connectorisforusewithanyLightViperaccessorywhichusesTTLcontrol.TheDB9connectormaybeusedwith
acrossoverDB9toDB9cable,utilizingthetranslationelectronicsontheVIMMY32carditself.Theswitchinbetweenthese
connectorsshouldbesettocorrespondwiththeconnectorbeingused(leftor“TTL”fortheRJ45,rightor“HA”fortheDB9
connector.InthecaseoftheYamahaLS9,thisconsolehasnoexternalcontrolconnector.Controlisfedinternallytotheback
planeoftheVIMMY32carditself.IfyouareusingVIMMY32cardswithaYamahaLS9,theswitchshouldbesettothemiddle
“internal”position.AccessoryLightViperproductssuchasDGL422(Yamahacontrolprotocol),MD3(RS422,MIDI,RS232
control)andDMX4(DMXlightingcontrolplusYamahacontrol)canbeconnectedtotheTTLcontrolconnector.
TheYamahaconsolewillnotdisplay“VIMMY32”ontheconsolescreen.TheYamahaconsolewillrecognizetheVIMMY32card
asageneric16channelexpansioncard.Thenameshowninthetextfieldwillbedisplayedasagenericname(i.e.“ADAT16”).
Whatisdisplayedmayvarywiththemodeland/orsoftwareversionbeingrunontheYamahaconsole.SomeYamahamixers
maynotbecompatiblewiththeLightViperVIMMY32cards.Softwareandfirmwareupdatestotheconsolemayberequired.

systemutilizing(1)VIMMY32masterand(1)VIMMY32slave;(16)returnsona48x16systemutilizing(2)VIMMY32mastersand(1)
VIMMY32slave;and(16)returnsona64x16systemwith(2)VIMMY32mastersand(2)VIMMY32slaves.WhenusingVIMMY32S
(slave)cardsonasplit,noneofthecontrolfunctionsareoperationalfromthesesplitpositionsonlytheprimaryVIMMY32Scards
locatedatFOHhavethecapabilityofutilizingthesecontrolfunctions.WhenusingVIMMYcardsonasplit,theclockselectionswitch
ontheVIMMY32mastercard(s)mustbesetto“Master”,asthesecardswillbefeedingthemasterclocktothesplitconsole.If
usingasystemthatcontainsbothaLightViperVIM1832mixerboxandVIMMY32cards,theVIM1832mustoperateat24bit/48k
usingtheexternalclockinput.
Note:WhenusingthecardswithaYamahaLS9,theVIMMY32M(Master)cardmustbeusedinslot#1
only.Thecontrolmustalsobeassignedtoslot#1only.

connection.IftheLEDisflashinggreenthismeanstheslavecardispresentbutnotinsync.IftheLEDissolidgreen,theconnection

mastercardinsystemswith48or64channels.Ona32channelsystem,theseST“passthroughs”wouldnotbeusedasthereisonly
(1)masterrequiredfora32x8system.TheycouldhoweverbeusedtoconnectadditionalexternalfiberdevicessuchasaLightViper
EF2PhysicalLayerEthernetconverter.

NeutrikOpticalCon®Fiberthisfibercablecontains(2)fibersandisalsoatacticalgradefiber(P/NTFC0000
02OC).
PVCfiberPVCduplexfibercontains(2)fibers.Plenumratedfiberisalsoavailable.Theinstallercan
terminatethefiberthemselves,orFiberplexcansupplyitpreterminated.Thisfiberisalsoavailablewitha
strainreliefand“pullingeye”whichreducesonsitelabor.
