aremadeviaasingleDB‐25toXLRFcable.TheseinputsMUSTbe
usedinconjunctionwiththeClockI/Odescribedbelowineither
masterorslavemode.TheDB‐25connectorsonboththeDigital
SendsandReturnsutilizeastandardAES3balancedpin‐out
configuration.Cableandconnectorpin‐outsareillustratedinthe
Appendix.NOTE:TheAnalogDA‐88cablesarenotpincompatible
withthedigitalcables.
DigitalSends(outputs)‐Thesendsfromthestageboxare
simultaneouslyavailableasAES3digitalsignals.Connectionsare
madevia2DB‐25connectors,with16channelsoneach.Accessto
thedigitalsignalallowsforconnectiontodigitalrecordersor
consoles,bypassingtheironboardconvertersandeliminatingthe
needforoutboardconverters.Fordigitalconnectionstraightintoa
YamahaPM5D,DM2000,DM1000orM7CL,theoptionalVCB‐DDMY
andVCB‐DDMYIOcablesconnectdirectlytotheYamahaMY16AE
cards.CablesareavailabletoconnecttoProTools,orotherdevices.
ClockI/O‐Byitself,theentireLightVipersystemisinternally
frequencycoherent.TheVIM‐1832MixerBoxcontainstheclock
masterforthesystem,andtheStageBoxandanyothersendunits
thatareconnectedviatheopticalsplitsallsynctotheclock
providedbythemaster.TheLightViper1832systemrunsnativelyat
24bit/96k,butcanalsorunat24bit/48kwitha48kclockinputto
the“clockin”connectorontheVIM‐1832.
TheclockI/Oisusedwhenyouneedtosynchronizewithexternal
equipmentmakingtheentiresystemfrequencycoherent.When
usingthedigitalreturnstheVIMMUSTBEineithermasterorslave
modewiththeequipmentprovidingthedigitalinput.
TheClockinputwillaccepteither“WordClock”(96KHz/48kHz)or
“SuperClock”(24.576MHz/12.288MHz).Outputsareprovidedfor
bothclocktypes.
ThesystemcanoperateinSlaveMode—Inthismodeclockis
suppliedviathe“clockin”connectoroverridingtheinternalclock.
The“clockoutputs”arepass‐throughsfortheclockconnectedto
theinput.
InMasterModethereisnothingconnectedtotheinputand

appropriatefiberandcompatibleconnectors.
