DA 100B HD Pad Cooling
1 Product description
DA 100B HD pad cooling is applied for cooling of large air quantities in tunnel ventilation systems. Fresh air is
directed through pads by means of negative pressure in the house. When cooling is required, the pads are kept
moist with water, which circulates from lower gutter to the top of the pad. Pad cooling can be mounted on the
wall or on the floor.
Pad cooling DA 100B HD is specially designed for cooling in hot and dry climate zones (zones with high
cooling potential). This is a result of optimization of the water amount and cooling on-time, which creates a
uniform cooling across the pads.
The system exists in 2 versions:
1. The water performance is aligned to 9 liter/min/meter pad. (System 1)
2. The water performance is aligned down to below 9 liter/min/meter pad. (System 2)

2.2 Safety guidelines - intended use
These Operating Instructions include the most important information in connection with operating the pad
cooling system in a safe manner.
The relevant guidelines for the prevention of accidents as well as other generally recognised
technical safety and medical regulations for the workplace must be observed.
Check that the safety and functional equipment works safely and correctly:
prior to start-up
at appropriate intervals
after modifications or maintenance.
The specifications outlined by the water and energy utility companies must also be observed.
The system is exclusively intended for cooling/air-conditioning. Usage for other purposes is not intended, like
e.g. pumping other liquids than water. The manufacturer/supplier is not responsible for damage resulting from
this. The user is solely responsible for the use.
To the intended use also belongs the attention of the manual and the adherence to of the maintenance
conditions.
2.3 Electrical system
Qualified personnel must perform installation, service and fault-finding of all electrical
equipment in accordance with the applicable national and international standard EN 60204-1 and
any other EU standards that are applicable in Europe.
The installation of a power supply isolator is required for each motor and power supply to
facilitate voltage-free work on the electrical equipment. SKOV A/S does not supply the power
supply isolator.
Mount the pump according to the supplier instruction manual.
The pump must be shielded from direct sunlight (50°C).
Mount the frequency converter according to the supplier instruction manual.
Note that the frequency converter must be placed next to the controller.
All tasks extending beyond the framework of system maintenance may only be carried out by qualified
personnel.
Always isolate the power supply when working on the device and secure against unauthorised reactivation by
another person.
Examine electrical cables for visible damage prior to commissioning.
Replace any damaged lines before putting the device into operation.
Damaged or destroyed plug devices must be replaced by a qualified electrician.
Covering electrical components can give rise to heat concentration with high temperatures which can in turn
destroy the equipment and cause fires.

3.4 Opening for pad cooling
The following measurement are required to make the
opening in the wall:
Minimum 340 mm from level floor.
Height of opening = Pad height minus 115 mm.
Length of opening = Pad length minus 50 mm.
It is important that the vertical sides are
perpendicular to the horizontal sides.
Use a square to make the sides perpendicular.
Use a chalk line as guide when cutting the
opening.

3.5 Bracket for water gutter
Make sure that the edge of the opening are covered and waterproof before mounting the pad system.
Following measurements must be done:
Make a horizontal chalk line 340 mm from the row of
openings along the edge.
When you mark out for bracket screw holes, the base
of the bracket must follow the chalk line.
Mark out for position of the supply unit to start with.
See below if necessary.
Hereafter, there should be an interval of max. 750
mm between the brackets
End brackets must be placed with a distance of 100
mm from the end of the opening.
Mount the brackets for the supply unit in the desired
position, in that way the water gutter follows a
horizontal line.
