Build the Spitfire: Step-By-Step
Push the LED into the tube until the wire comes
out the other end of the tube. Pull the brass wire
at the same time as you push the LED wire.
5
Another way to pass the LED through the tube is
to take a piece of 0.5mm brass wire, supplied with
Stage 36, and wrap one end around the LED wire
(arrow), and bend the other end over (inset).
4
Position the wing with the underside facing up.
Insert the green LED into the tube in the right side
of the wing.
3
Pull the brass wire until the LED comes out past
the end of the wing, as shown.
6
318
Build the Spitfire: Step-By-Step
Lead the LED into the hole in the leading edge of
the wing. Pull the wire out at the other end of the
tube until there is no slack in the tube. Secure the
wire to the tube with a dab of glue.
Follow the same process to install the 550mm red LED into
the left half of the wing.
The LED should now look like this from the top of
the wing.

plate and the ribs of the wing (dotted lines).
4
Place the plate at the left end of the wing. Adjust
the curve of the plate. Mark and remove the
excess that overlaps (dotted lines).
3
Shape upper wing plate 15, from Stage 68, over a
cylindrical object, as shown.
6
322
Build the Spitfire: Step-By-Step
Test-fit the plate in the area shown in the next
step. Mark and remove the overlapping edges.
Pierce two holes in the corners of the plate and
gently hammer a nail into them.
Apply glue to the contact areas on the wing and
place the plate into position.
Repeat Steps 6-9 for upper wing plate 15 provided
with Stage 80.
