Introduction
Your deep fryer features a cool-wall body. A lter in the lid
absorbs cooking vapours and smells.
Please read all the instructions before using the appliance.
Read all the safety notes carefully. If you pass the fryer on to a
third party, include these instructions.
Unpacking
In the box you should nd:
• The deep fryer
• Frying basket
• Basket handle
Unpack the fryer components and remove any packaging from
inside the fryer.
If any items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest Tesco
store for assistance. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it
do so in accordance with any recycling regulations in your area.
Preparation
First use
Before using your fryer for the rst time, follow the instructions
in the Cleaning section to clean all components and allow them
to dry.
Assemble the fryer basket
Place the basket on a worktop or other rm surface.
Place the basket in the fryer
The basket has two positions
Raised position
The basket is hooked over the oil pan at the front of the fryer.
This position is for lling the basket, draining oil and examining
the food.
Lowered position
This is used for frying and preheating the oil.
Place the basket inside the fryer in the lowered position as
shown.
Ensure the basket is fully inside the fryer pan with the slot in the
fryer body between the wires of the handle so that the lid can
be closed securely.
Positioning the Fryer
• Locate the deep fryer on a rm, at, heat-resistant work
surface. Steam given o by the cooking process may mark
or damage anything above or around the fryer, ensure
these areas are kept clear.
• In order to avoid possible re hazards Keep areas above
and around the fryer clear. Leave a clear space all round
the fryer, and keep it as far back from the front edge of the
work surface as possible.
• Do not put the fryer or the mains lead close to any other
cooking or heating appliance.
• Place the fryer close to a switched wall socket. Do NOT use
mains extensions.
Pull the handle
backwards rmly to
lock it onto the basket
at the points shown.
Squeeze the handle
supports together.
With the handle tilted
forwards, t the ends
of the handle supports
into the basket loops as
shown.

Cooking with the fryer
Before cooking, the tank must be lled with the correct amount
of oil and be preheated to the correct temperature.
When this process is complete you can proceed to the cooking
stage.
Fill the tank with oil
Corn oil, sunower oil, ground nut oil and vegetable oil are all
suitable for use with the fryer. You may use solid vegetable fat
but this is much more dicult to handle. Solid fat should be
melted in a separate pan before transferring it to the tank.
CAUTION: Do not use margarine, butter or olive oil. Do not mix
dierent oils and fats.
At the rear of the oil tank there are two marks MIN and MAX.
• Pour in sucient oil to reach the MAX mark. Do not overll.
The capacity of the tank is 2.0 litres - 1.5 litres is needed to
cover the MIN mark. There should always be sucient oil in
the tank to cover the MIN mark.
• Place the basket in the fryer in the frying position.
• Close the lid of the fryer.
Make sure the lid catch clicks into place. This will prevent
steam from escaping.
• Set the temperature control to the OFF position.
• Plug the fryer into a mains outlet and switch on the power
at the mains.
Preheat the oil
CAUTION: Do not omit this process!
• Set the correct oil temperature for the food by moving the
temperature selector to the appropriate position.
The power indicator will light.
After about 11 minutes the oil will be at the correct temperature.
The power indicator will go o.
Note: when used for the rst time the fryer may emit a slight
odour. This is harmless and quite normal. The odour will cease
after a very short time.
Cooking
When the oil has reached the correct temperature
• Open the fryer lid, lift the basket up and hook it over the
front of the oil tank to raise it.
• Place the food to be cooked (which should be as dry as
possible) in the basket. Do not overll the basket.
Always have the basket in the raised position when lling it.
• Lower the lled basket slowly into the oil.
• Close the lid.
During cooking the Power light will go on and o while the
cooker maintains the correct frying temperature.- this is
normal.
When the food is cooked
• Open the lid fully.
Be careful as there may be steam in the fryer.
• Lift the basket just clear of the oil, shake it slightly to
remove excess oil.
• Hook the basket over the front edge of the oil well.
If the food is not fully cooked
• Return the basket into the oil
• Close the lid and continue the cooking process until the
food has been fully cooked.
If the food is fully cooked
• Transfer the food carefully to a heatproof utensil using
heatproof tongs or a metal spoon.
When cooking has been completed
• Return the basket to the fryer, close the lid
• Switch o mains power and unplug the fryer. Now leave
the appliance to cool fully before cleaning.
• If you are using solid fat, remove the basket from the fryer
before the fat in the tank solidies.
• Wash the basket in hot soapy water. Use great care as
the fat may splatter when it comes into contact with
the water. Alternatively, leave the basket on a heatproof
surface to cool after removing it from the fryer.

Hints on using your fryer
• Use a recommended oil -do not mix oils or fats.
• Take into account the type of food when you set the frying
temperature. Generally, precooked foods need a higher
cooking temperature than raw foods.
• If you need to add oil, do so between batches. Allow a
short time for the oil to heat up to the right temperature.
• Ensure there is enough room to open the appliance lid and
operate the frying basket.
• Cook food thoroughly. Remember that food may turn
golden brown before it has cooked through.
• Use the fryer in well ventilated conditions. All food,
contains moisture which turns to steam during frying.
Most of this steam escapes through the lter in the lid.
• Do not lean over the fryer when cooking food or when
opening the lid.
Storing the fryer
If you store the oil separately
• Place the basket in the fryer and close the lid.
If you store the fryer with oil in the tank
Store it with the basket in the lowered (frying) position and the
lid closed.
Ensure the fryer is securely stored in a cupboard or in a place
where the oil is unlikely to spill or get contaminated.
Making replacement lters
You may make your own lters very easily. You will need a plain
lter sheet available from kitchen accessory stores. Place a
sheet of paper in the lter recess and draw around the inside to
make a template. Cut the template with a pair of sharp scissors
and use it to make your replacement lters.
