SUMMARY:
The arc detector PCB’s PN-31419 Rev. “C” and 675280 Rev. “E” have been updated to Rev
“D” and Rev. “F”, respectively. The changes were made to:
Simplify manufacture by incorporate common components and circuitry.
improve performance reliability by eliminating mechanical switches.
eliminate calibration problems by removing the calibration pot on the PCB.
The individual PCB P/N’s remain the same as above but the installation of PN-675280 Rev. “D”
PCB for the Digimatic II and DigiPulse Automatic will require a change in position of the
“Coding Plug” to accept the new Revision “D” board. More details and installation instructions
are provided below.
BACKGROUND:
Recently, users have raised concerns about the calibration standard and hence the
performance consistency of these PCB’s. The latest design and component modifications will
fix these concerns.
Previously, there were two arc detector PCB designs available having different circuitry and
components; one for the Robotic Interface and one for the Digimatic II or DigiPulse Automatic
controls. Both PCB’s were designed for the execution of similar functions for mechanized
welding control applications. Both boards had also seen several revision changes over the
years. It was time to consolidate and simplify there functions.
The old and new PCB’s are shown below:

ACTION:
Robotic Interface Arc Detect PCB
Replacement of the Robotic Interface Arc Detect PCB PN-31420 Rev. “F” is a simple remove
and replace which requires no additional steps.
Digimatic II /DigiPulse Automatic Arc Detect PCB
Replacement of the Digimatic II /DigiPulse Arc Detect PCB PN-675280 Rev. “D” requires the
“Key Plug” to be moved from position 11 to position 14 for proper installation of the new
Revision “D” PCB. See Below:
New Revision “D” PCB
Key Plug in wrong position
To move “Key Plug” :
1. Gently pry up and remove plug (white) from card socket position 11
2. Move left to position 14 and press firmly in card socket. See Below.
3. Install Arc Detect PCB.
