PRODUCT SERIES/ MODEL:
This service bulletin applies to ALL ESP-200 Consoles (36324 & 36974).
SERIAL NO:
All serial Numbers
SUMMARY:
Reverse polarity applied to C3 may cause premature failure of C3. Even if C3 were to fail, the
console would continue to operate in a normal manner with the possibility that the pilot arc current
may be higher than expected which may cause reduced consumable life
OPERATIONAL IMPACT:
Possibly improved consumable life.
ACTION:
Perform this service bulletin on any consoles that come into the repair station for repair. This
change will prevent C3 from being subjected to voltages of the wrong polarity during the Pilot Arc
phase of the cutting process.
EXPLANATION:
Capacitor C3 (4200 uF / 350 VDC), has been found to be wired with the polarity reversed.
Replace C3 with a new (8)950627 (same part) by mounting the new part in the console with the
vapor release (red dot) in the up position. Connect the Blue wire to the negative terminal of C3 (no
marking) along with one end of R6 (10K 12W). Connect the Yellow wire to the positive (+) terminal
of C3 along with the other lead from R6.
