SUMMARY:
The inrush PC board (PN-38242) is intended to protect the input bridge from high inrush currents on
power up. We have experienced several failures of this board when the power source is installed on
stiff (non-drooping) primary mains. In these cases the power source inrush current can reach
abnormally high levels very quickly causing PCB and other component failures.
We have made several changes to the PCB circuitry and components to improve reliability on
installations having stiff primary mains. These changes render the original PCB (marked Rev OR) as
obsolete. The new PCB now carries the Rev “A” identification and can be identified by the board
mounted thermistors replacing the ceramic resistors. See photo below

OPERATIONAL IMPACT:
There is no change in the cutting performance with the Revision “A” PCB installed.
ACTION:
Most power source field failures have occurred on 460 and 575 VAC installations. Units connected to
400, 230 and 208 VAC primary lines have, to date, not been experiencing component failures. For this
reason, it is not mandatory that the inrush PCB be changed on every PowerCut 1250 and 1500 unit in
service. We do recommend that if you are connected to 460 or 575 VAC primary, you replace the
inrush PCB with the Rev “A” version.
If you have any questions or concerns about your installation or you would like a “No Charge”
replacement PCB, contact our Product and Service Information Group at the numbers below.
