FläktGroup DC_9126GB 20180202_R0 Specifications are subject to alteration without notice
The external surface of the motor should be kept clean and the
ventilation inlets should not be blocked.
Intermittent and abnormal noise and vibrations are not accept-
able and the motor should be shut off. The bearing temperature
shall not exceed 95 °C.
INSTALLATION OF SEPARATELY SUPPLIED
FREQUENCY INVERTER
CAPACITIES IN EXCESS OF 22 KW
If the capacity exceeds 22 kW, a symmetrically shielded cable
with concentric or in some other way symmetrically designed
protective earth conductor should be used. For recommenda-
tions governing these installations we refer to the installation
instructions for the frequency inverter.
INPUT POWER {MAINS) CABLE, FUSES AND CIRCUIT
BREAKERS
A four conductor cable (three phases and earth/protective
earth) is recommended for the input power cabling. Shielding is
not necessary. Dimension the cables and fuses in accordance
with the input current. Always pay attention to local codes when
sizing the cables and fuses.
The input power connectors are at the bottom of the drive. lnput
power cable routing must be done so that the distance from the
sides of the drive is at least 20 cm to avoid excessive radiation
to the input power cable. In the case of shielded cable, twist the
cable shield wires together into a bundle (pigtail) not longer than
five times its width and connect to the PE terminal of the drive (or
PE terminal of input filter, if present).
GENERAL
FläktGroup Standard Three phase asynchronous motor can be
delivered in different models (manufacturers).
Regardless of the models the delivered motor always fulfils
the specification given from the product selection software ACON.
The motor and fan are balanced from factory.
The motor is designed for continuous operation in ambient
temperature 40 °C and altitudes below 1000 meters. The casing
of the motor can be hot when touching during normal service
even after shut off.
INSTALLATION
The motor shall be earthed according to valid regulations.
Voltage tolerance is +/- 10 %. When the phase-sequence is
L1, L2, L3 the direction of rotation is clockwise viewed from the
driving end. The direction of rotation will be reversed if
the phase-sequence is altered.
The connecting terminal block is equipped with metric knock-
outs. Not used holes must be sealed. The cable gland must have
same IP-class as the terminal block and fit the cable diameter.
Generally, a thermal and short circuit protection device should
be mounted in the motors power supply. If the motor is equipped
with a thermistor it should be used.
The instruction for connection of the thermistor is in the terminal
block.
Warning!
If the frequency inverter is not installed
correctly, this may damage the motor bearings.
FläktGroup’s policy stipulates that we agree
to accept guarantee liability only if the motor
and frequency inverter have been supplied
and installed by us.
Guarantee liability will not be accepted by
FläktGroup if the motor has been connected/
wired to a frequency inverter by another fitter,
i.e. one who is not employed by or commis-
sioned by FläktGroup.

MOTOR CABLING INSTRUKTIONS
Keep individual unshielded wires between the cable clamps and
the screw terminals as short as possible. Route control cables
away from power cables.
The figure below shows the recommended conductor layout.
Allowed
A separate Pe conductor is required if the conductivity of the cable
shield is < 50 % of the conductivity of the phase conductor.
Allowed for motor cables with phase conductor cross section up to
10 mm2.
Recommended
Symmetrical shielded cable: three-phase conductors and a concentric or
otherwise symmetrically constructed PE conductor and a shield
Not allowed for motor cables
A four-conductor system: three-phase conductors and protective
conductor, without a shield.

EFFECTIVE MOTOR CABLE SHIELDS
The general rule for cable shield effectiveness is: the better and
tighter the shield, the lower the radiated emission level. The
figure below shows an example of an effective construction (for
example Ölflex-Servo-FD 780 CP, Lapp Kabel or MCCMK, Draka
NK Cables).
Insulation jacket Inner insulator L2
L3 L1
Braided metallic shield
Galvanised steel or tinned copper wire with braided shield.
Layer of copper tape with concentric layer of copper wire.
Concentric layer of copper wire.
MAINTANANCE
Inspect the motor regularly and keep it clean. Especially impor-
tant is to keep the ventilation inlets clean.
If the motor protection is activated: The cause of the malfunction
must be investigated and corrected before starting the motor
again; motor failure, temporary overload or wrong set values in
the protection device.
BEARINGS
Most fans and motors are equipped with permanently lubricated
bearings. As a guideline the following lifetimes can be expected
at an ambient temperature of 25 °C.
32 000 – 45 000 1) h for 4-pole motors
16 000 – 26 000 h 1) for 2-pole motors
The shorter times for bigger sizes (IEC 180 or bigger)
1) The interval is dependent of the speed of the motor.
If the bearings are overheated or deteriorated the bearing must
be exchanged or, if possible, the crease be renewed. If the
grease is to be renewed: Remove the old grease and clean with
gasoline. Fill half of the empty volume of the bearing with lithium
based grease.
Type of bearing is to be found on the marking on the motor.
While dismantling the motor, the rotor can be removed either
from driving or non-driving end. While the rotor is taken out care
should be taken to avoid damage of the rotor.
If motor need rewinding, please contact manufacturer for correct
winding data.
