FläktGroup PM-MOTOR Installation and Maintenance Manual

  • I've reviewed the provided installation instructions for the FläktGroup PM-Motor. This document covers essential aspects such as environmental limits, mounting types, electrical connections with shielded cables, and specific safety guidelines. I'm ready to answer your questions about the PM-Motor based on the information provided in this manual.
  • What is the admissible environmental temperature for the motor?
What type of cables should be used for installation?
Can I connect the motor directly to the mains?

FREQUENCY INVERTER
The shielded cable must be led either through an EMC approved cable
gland in the casing of the frequency inverter or through a cap intended for
this purpose.
The shielded cable must not be connected to an earth screw.
The shield must be in 360º
contact with
the casing

NOTE!
PARAMETERS
Speed controller parameters are set at the factory pro-viding for
optimal performance of fan and motor. This includes motor para-
meters, ramp times, starting and stopping methods and speed
limitations.
Changing of these parameters may result in unstable
operation or motor won’t start.
GENERAL
Admissible environmental temperature: from -15 °C up to
+40 °C, with altitudes 1000 m above sea level
Mounting: IM B3, B5
Drive operating voltage: 400 VAC
Insulation class: "F"; temperature rise to class B
(TEFC execution)
IP55 degree of protection for the whole range
Reduced dimensions
Rare earth permanent magnets
NOTE!
The frequency converter have been optimized for the
duty point. The power could thus be lower than the
motors rated power.

INSTALLATION
A continuous, shielded 4-wire cable designed for EMC installation to
motor drives should be installed between the motor and the frequency
inverter. The optical density of the cable shield shall be at least 80 %, e.g.
NCY or Olflex Classic. The shield must be in 360 º contact with the casing
both in the motor and in the frequency inverter in order to achieve maxi-
mal surface contact. It is not advisable to install a safety isolating switch
or junction boxes between the frequency inverter and the motor.

INSTALLATION
WARNING!
The motor is designed exclusively for operation with
the supplied speed control (frequency converter).
Direct on-line connection to the mains is not possible
for PM-motors.
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock:
Motor terminals may still be live if the impeller is
rotating, even when the main incoming supplied has
been isolated. Ensure the impeller is kept stationary
before opening and whilst the terminal box is open.
MOTOR
The cable must be led into the terminal box of the motor through an
EMC approved cable gland, e.g. through a Miltronic SKINTOPMS-SC. The
shielded cable must only be connected via the EMC cable gland, not to an
earth screw.
OTHER DETAILS
In addition to the above, observe the following:
type of mains power supply
local electrical safety rules and regulations
