FREQUENCY CONVERTER
SAFETY REGULATIONS
1. The frequency converter must be disconnected from mains if repair
work is to be carried out.
Check that the mains supply has been disconnected and that the
necessary time has passed before works begins.
2. The [OFF/RESET] key on the LCP of the control unit does not
disconnect the equipment from mains and is thus not to be used as a
safety switch.
3. Correct protective earthing of the equipment must be established, the
user must be protected against supply voltage, and the motor must
be protected against overload in accordance with applicable national
and local regulations.
4. The earth leakage currents are higher than 3.5 mA.
5. Protection against motor overload is set by 1-90 Motor Thermal
Protection. If this function is desired, set 1-90 .
6. Do not break the connection to the motor or the electric grid while the
frequency converter is running.
Check that the mains supply has been disconnected and that the
necessary time has passed before work begins.
7. Please note that the frequency converter has more voltage inputs
than L1, L2 and L3, when load sharing (linking of DC intermediate
circuit) and external 24 V DC have been installed. Check that all
voltage inputs have been disconnected and that the necessary time
has passed before commencing repair work.
ALARMS AND WARNINGS
If alarm or warning messages appear, consult speed controller operating
manual in place fault messages and troubleshooting.
PROTECTION AND FEATURES:
• Electronic thermal motor protection against overload.
• The speed controller is protected against short-circuits on motor
terminals U, V, W.
• If a mains phase is missing, the speed controller trips or issues
a warning (depending on the load).
• Monitoring of the intermediate circuit voltage ensures that the speed
controller trips if the intermediate circuit voltage is too low or too high.
• The speed controller is protected against earth faults on motor
terminals U, V, W.
MAINTENANCE
Inspect the motor regularly and keep it clean. Especially important is to
keep the ventilation inlets clean.
If the motor protection is activated: The cause of the malfunction must be
investigated and corrected before starting the motor again; motor failure,
temporary overload or wrong set values in the protection device.
BEARINGS
Most fans and motors are equipped with permanently lubricated
bearings.
As a guideline the expected lifetimes is 40 000 h.
Type of bearing is to be found on the marking on the motor.
If there is a need for changing bearings contact FläktGroup for
instructions.
WARNING!
Speed controller tries to restart the motor after
alarm so the fan may start automatically.
WARNING!
The voltage of the frequency converter is
dangerous whenever connected to mains.
Incorrect installation of the motor, frequency
converter or fieldbus may cause death, serious
personal injury or damage to the equipment.
Consequently, the instructions in this manual,
as well as national and local rules and safety
regulations, must be complied with.
