1 Introduction
This operator manual is intended to make it easier for you to get to know the component in question and
for you to use its range of applications.
This manual contains important information regarding how to operate the component in a safe, appropri-
ate and economical manner. Your attention will help to reduce hazards, repair costs and downtime, as
well as to increase the reliability and service life of the respective product.
Existing national regulations for accident prevention and environmental protection are also valid.
The operator should ensure that every person working on or with the component reads and utilizes this
manual.
This manual must be kept in a designated and easily accessible location and it must be referred to in the
event of even the slightest doubt.
As the type and scope of the application programs depend on the specific individual choice of each cus-
tomer, this manual will not address any detailed issues pertaining to software. Dedicated manuals are
available for the peripherals that can be connected. These devices will therefore not be described in
greater detail here. Please inform yourself by consulting the respective manuals.

2 Safety instructions
The BEETLE /Multi IO Hub Gen.2 complies with the relevant safety regulations for data processing sys-
tems.
If this device is moved from a cold environment into its operating room, condensation may occur. The
device must be absolutely dry before being put into service; an acclimatization period of at least two
hours must therefore be observed.
The external power supply unit is equipped with a safety-tested power cable. Only the approved 24V/5A
power supply unit (see chapter "Checking the delivery package") may be used when it is connected to a
properly grounded wall socket.
When installing the device, please ensure that the device connector and grounded wall socket are easily
accessible.
The device must be completely disconnected from the supply voltage when performing any work on the
device and when plugging in or disengaging data cables. To completely disconnect the device from the
supply voltage, switch off the device and remove the power plug of the power supply unit.
USB devices may be connected to or removed from the system during operation, provided that these de-
vices comply with the specifications pursuant to usb.org. To be on the safe side, other peripherals (e.g.
PoweredUSB printers) should only be connected to or removed from systems that are switched off.
Before starting any assembly work on the device, you should discharge yourself, e.g. by touching a
grounded object (such as a heater).
Please make sure that no objects (e.g. paper clips) are able to enter inside the device, as this may result
in electric shocks or short-circuits.
Data cables must not be plugged in or unplugged during storms.
Protect the device against vibrations, dust, humidity and heat.
Make sure that used parts are disposed of in a way that is environmentally compatible.
In the event of an emergency (e.g. damaged housing or damaged power cable, penetration of liquids or
foreign objects), switch off the device immediately, disconnect the power plug and inform the Technical
Support department of Diebold Nixdorf International GmbH or the authorized service partner of your re-
tailer.
Your BEETLE /Multi IO Hub Gen.2 is the result of state-of-the-art technical innovation. Therefore, please
ensure equally modern structural and technical ambient conditions are present to enable correct and effi-
cient functionality of the interface hub. You should only connect the Multi IO Hub Gen.2 or any other IT
system to mains networks with separate protective earth conductors (PE).
This type of mains network is called a TN-S network. Do not use PEN conductors! Please also observe
the recommendations of DIN VDE 0100 part 540, Appendix C2. This will help you avoid any potential
malfunctions.

3 Description
The BEETLE /Multi IO Hub Gen.2 provides a large number of classic peripheral interfaces for the re-
quired devices and thus serves as a service point for each individual POS workplace.
This means that the POS-specific peripherals are connected to the POS system via the Multi IO Hub
Gen.2 with just one cable (i.e. a USB uplink cable).
In the event of an error and replacement of the POS system, all peripherals remain connected to the
Multi IO Hub Gen.2. Replacing the POS system is therefore particularly quick.
Whatever configuration you need, Diebold Nixdorf offers the right solution.
If you have any questions about your BEETLE /Multi IO Hub Gen.2 or other Diebold Nixdorf products
and solutions, please visit us online.

Description
3.2.3
3.2.3 LAN (RJ45)
The cable for connecting to a network (LAN) is inserted here.
This LAN connection is provided via an internal USB 3.1 interface. Device drivers are available for Win-
dows and Linux operating systems.
Only use shielded LAN cables that are marked CAT5 or CAT5e (for 1000 MBit). These offer better pro-
tection against malfunctions in the network.
The Multi IO Hub Gen.2 and the POS system each have their own MAC address.

3.2.4 LAN pass through (2x RJ45)
NOTICE!The LAN pass-through interface of the Multi IO Hub Gen.2 does not have its own MAC ad-
dress. The MAC address of the POS system is used here.
Some installation environments may prevent the installed LAN connection (via USB) from being used.
The Multi IO Hub Gen.2 therefore offers a so-called LAN pass-through, i.e. the Multi IO Hub Gen.2 can
be used to loop the LAN through to the POS system.
The plugs for the LAN pass-through connection can be inserted into any of the two available sockets.
LAN in: Connection of the network infrastructure
LAN out: Connection to the POS system
