1 Operation of ems4.ec2-Standard / ec3-Touch
1.1 Operation of the display
9After the supply voltage is provided or 4 minutes after the last operation (but with
lighting switched off) the main display of ec2/ec3 is activated.
Fig. 1: ems4ec2 Standard Display ec3-Touch-Display
You fundamentally have the following operating options:
Arrow up/down Press the arrow up/down key.
9The configuration menu of the ec2/ec3 appears.
Arrow right/left Press the arrow right/left key.
9You can change the selected parameters.
OK Press the OK key.
9The list of the scheduled automation stations (AS) is displayed so that you can
begin the dialog with an AS.
Press the OK key for longer than one sec.
9A collective message is sent to all AS located on the bus system. This ensures that
the buzzer output of a H&L module programmed in the AS is deactivated.
ESC When entering a numerical sequence, e.g. telephone numbers for the remote mainte-
nance management, the last number saved is deleted by long pressing of the ESC key
(> 1 sec). This deletes the number to the left of the cursor.
Only ec3 Touch Display: Press the Graphics key.
9Trend processes for diverse functions can be presented by means of the graphics
key – for more information see "Trend view ec3 Touch" on page 11.
If a fault occurs: In case of a fault in one of the connected AS, the display shows the background lighting
configured for this fault case. Permanent background lighting is displayed during the
about 4-minute user activity, or as blinking background lighting after this time.

1.2 The start screen and configuration
Initial view (welcome logo) of the ec2-displays appears as follows:
The display always returns to this view after several minutes of inactivity.
The background changes, when:
An error message is sent by a connected automation station.
A service/maintenance message is sent by an automation station.
Press the arrow up/down keys.
9You reach the Configuration menu:
In these configuration menus, you can carry out all necessary ec2 interface settings,
language settings, display colors, and so on.
9The selected menu item is indicated by the arrow symbol
(-->) at the left side of the display.
Press the arrow up/down keys to select the desired menu item.
Press the arrow right/left keys to change the parameters.
9Use the arrow up/down key of the main display to reach the main configuration
menu.
1.3 Operation of the automation stations (AS)
The ec2 enables the operation of the automation stations of type ecs1+, ecs3+,
PCD1.NT and ems 4. The communication is effected either using a RS485 interface
with the Terminal-Bus Protocol (all AS) or using a CAN-Bus with the SysLink protocol
(ems 4). Additional programming of the ec2 is not necessary for this purpose, because
all needed dialogues, error messages, maintenance messages, etc. were configured
in AS.
Press the OK key in the basic display.
9You reach the list of automation stations (AS):

Up to 36 automation stations can be integrated in the list (menu settings -> automation
stations). It is sufficient to indicate a 3-digit bus address of the AS to the ec2.
The list of AS contains the following data:
No. Bus address of an automation station
System designation System designation that is programmed in the automation station, e.g. "ISP02 ventila-
tion"
Stat. Current Bus status of an AS.
If the ec2 is successful in communication with the AS, the bus status signals “OK”.
A communication error is reported with the text “LOST”.
ALRM If at least one error is active that is configured for the alarm list of an AS, the latter is
marked with the short message "ALRM".
MNTN If there is at least one alarm signal configured for the maintenance list of the AS, then
the short designation “MNTN” is displayed (e.g. the operation time limit of a circulation
pump has reached the configured 3000 operating hours).
In the list of the automation stations, select the desired AS with the arrow up/down
keys.
9The selected AS is displayed by an arrow symbol in the left screen side.
Press the OK key.
9The ec2 now begins to request the main dialog of the AS and shows it in the display:
Press the arrow up/down keys.
9You reach the "Enter code" menu:
You can process the following functions:
Enter code: This function activates the code entry for the automation station
Circuits: Presentation of programmed control loops of an AS
Error messages: Display of alarm list of the currently selected AS
Maintenance messages: Display of service messages of the currently selected AS
Time / date entry: Date and time of an AS are displayed and can be changed.

2.20 Special days block timer switch program 1, 2 and 3 [10.2, 10.3 and 10.4]
9There are three windows for the special days timer switch program: for block 1, 2
and 3;
Since the windows are identical, only one window is described here as an example.
9You can program the special days here.
Special days Up to seven blocks (e.g. holiday times etc.) can be defined with start and end dates in
each of the 3 windows (10.2, 10.3, 10.4). The start date (from) refers to the first day of
the holiday, the end date (to) to the first day after the holiday. The program is executed
and reset to 00:00.
State 0 = Special days not active
1 = Special days enabled in accordance with the settings and the date in the controller
