room temperature sensor
* recommended
installation height = 1.5 m
Electrocution through hazardous voltage will lead to death or serious injury.
The electrical installation and (dis)assembly of the FläktGroup CMT.AC compact
controller may only be carried out by qualified electricians in compliance with this
operation manual and current VDE regulations.
Before drilling, ensure that the drilling area is free from electrical cables and pipes.
Mount the FläktGroup CMT.AC compact controller only in closed rooms.
NOTICE!
The installation site of the CMT.AC compact controller or the room temperature
sensor is crucial for the precise control of room temperature.
Therefore, do not mount the CMT.AC compact controller or the sensor
next to doors, windows or passageways, since intensive air movement can fal-
sify the measured value
on hot or cold walls (e.g. chimney, outside wall), since the wall temperature can
cause incorrect measurements,
placed behind blinds and net curtains, as the insulating layers of air can cause
incorrect measurements.
be fitted adjacent to unit discharge grilles, as discharge temperature can cause
incorrect measurements
be fitted below cold surfaces like windows, since descending cold air flow can
cause incorrect measurements.
*
NOTICE!
If a FläktGroup fan-coil unit has a heating or cooling change-over function, the
mounting location of the inlet-water temperature sensor is of decisive signifi-
cance for the accuracy of the automatic switch-over.
Therefore, mount this flow sensor on the piping in a position where the current
water temperature can be best recorded. Pay attention that this sensor is not
assembled at a position where the water flow can be blocked by e.g. a valve.

3.2 Mounting the FläktGroup CMT.AC compact controller
The casing of the FläktGroup CMT.AC compact controller is suitable for mounting on
walls and in-wall flush boxes.
Open the FläktGroup CMT.AC compact controller with a screwdriver and lift the
upper part upwards from the mounting plate
Route the wires through the connection aperture in the mounting plate of the
CMT.AC compact controller.
Install the mounting plate of the CMT.AC compact controller on the wall or on the
flush-mounted socket.
NOTICE!
For mounting the FläktGroup CMT.AC compact controller on the wall, maintain
the specified drilling distance (see „Hole distance for the FläktGroup CMT.AC
Compact Controller“ on page 24).
Make sure that the mounting plate is not deformed during installation.
NOTICE!
At assembly, pay attention to the control unit on an in-wall flush box, especially
a hollow wall box, to avoid influencing the room temperature measurement. To
avoid draught, provide appropriate insulation of the flush-mounted socket, if
necessary.
If the control panel is mounted on a flush-mounted socket, edges of the
mounting plate may remain visible, depending on the socket and the way it is
mounted. If necessary, use paint, wallpaper, or similar means to prepare the
installation surface.
It is also possible to hide the visible edges of the mounting plate by using a wall-
lamp socket with vertical mounting dimensions (screw clearance) of 60 mm.

3.4 Functions of the FläktGroup CMT.AC compact controller
3.4.1 Fan control
The fan can be started under the following prerequisites:
In case a flow sensor is connected and activated, the water temperature should be
suited to the operating mode (heating/cooling)
If the compact controller was released by the window/fault contact
The fan mode is set with a rotary switch.
The 3 positions of the rotary switch are:
1 = Fan speed 1
2 = Fan speed 2
3 = Fan speed 3
In the normal mode, the operation of the fan is dependent on:
The relationship between the measured and desired room temperature
Position of the fan rotary switch
Position of dip switch number 3 (see fig. 3-1 on page 14)
Fan continuous operation (Dip Switch on CON)
Fan ON/OFF (fan is only switched on when the desired room temperature is not
attained) (Dip Switch on CYC)
Fan start and stop delay of 30 seconds both in heating and cooling operation
The temperature at which the compact controller switches between summer and winter
operation is called the neutral band (4 °K). In normal operation, the setpoint between
heating and cooling operation does not change.
When controller is switched on using the temperature dial the fan is activated accord-
ing to the rotational speed switch setting, fan speed 1, 2 and 3. The temperature control
switches the fan ON/OFF to the selected speed if no fan continuous operation is
selected using Dip Switch 3.
Fan start delay In winter mode, the fan is only started after a fixed delay of 30 seconds in order to pre-
vent the draught formation.

3.4.2 Heating and cooling valve outputs
On/Off control
With this setting, the output is regulated with a 6-periods-per-hour algorithm, whereby
the switch-on time is dependent on the P+I control signal. If the room temperature is at
50% on the proportional band, the output is switched 5 minutes ON and 5 minutes
OFF.
Fan-coil unit with an ON/OFF
Fig. 3-2: Fan coil unit with a 2-line ON/OFF heating valve output.
The desired room temperature is set at the upper tolerance limit of the proportional
band so that the valve is closed when the measured room temperature lies above the
setpoint.
Fig. 3-3: Fan coil unit with a 2-line ON/OFF cooling valve output.
The desired room temperature is set to the lower tolerance limit of the proportional
band so that the valve is closed when the measured room temperature lies below the
setpoint.

The desired room temperature is set on the upper tolerance limit of the proportional
band when the compact controller is in heating mode and on the lower limit value when
it is in cooling mode.
3.4.3 Summer and winter operation switch-over
With a 2-pipe application, the switch-over of summer to winter operation takes place
with a contact connected to terminal 10 or an inlet-temperature sensor connected to
terminal 14/15 (fig. 3-1).
With a 4-pipe application, the switch-over from summer to winter operation takes place
on the basis of the measured room temperature and setpoint. If the room temperature
increases to greater than the setpoint plus a neutral band (factory setting 4 °K), the
compact controller is switched over to summer operation. Conversely, when the room
temperature falls below the setpoint minus the neutral band, the compact controller
switches to winter operation.
The room temperature setpoint is the same in summer as well as in winter operation.
If another setpoint is desired, it must be set with the temperature rotary switch.
3.4.4 Comfort and Economy Mode switch-over
In normal operation (Comfort Mode), there is the possibility of switching the compact
controller over to night operation (Economy Mode) with the digital input on terminal
9/10 (fig. 3-1).
The direction of operation for this input can be changed using dip switch 4.
When this dip switch is set on NO, the contact must be bridged to trigger Economy
mode. If the dip switch is set on NC, the contact must be opened to trigger Economy
mode.
If the economy mode is activated, the room temperature setpoint is reduced (in heating
operation) or increased (in cooling operation) with 4 °K.
3.4.5 Room frost protection
When the CMT.AC controller is turned off using the window contact, the room frost pro-
tection is activated with a temperature setpoint of 5 °C. This function is also active
when the controller is turned off using the temperature dial.
