• Do not place the unit on or near
appliances which may cause
electromagnetic interference. If
you do, it may adversely aect the
working of the unit, and cause a
distorted sound.
Earphones
• For trac safety, do not use
earphones while driving or
cycling.
• Listening to loud sounds for
prolonged periods of time
may permanently damage
your hearing.
• Before putting on earphones, turn
the volume down then put the
earphones on and slowly increase
the volume until you reach a
comfortable listening level.
Batteries
• Please dispose of batteries
correctly by following the
guidance in this manual.
• Do not expose the battery to
direct sunlight or sources of
excessive heat.
Service
• The unit does not contain any
user-serviceable parts. Please
leave all maintenance work to
qualied personnel.

1. Signal Strength
Shows you the strength of the signal. Three bars or more should
give good reception.
2. DAB
/ FM
Indicates that the radio is currently set to receive DAB / FM signal.
3. Favourite Display
The tick symbol indicates that the station playing is saved as
a Favourite. The heart symbol shows when Favourite tuning is
selected.
4. Volume Level
/ Mute
• More bars show as the volume level increases.
• Mute icon will ash when the sound is muted.
5. Battery Display
The level inside the battery symbol will drop as the batteries run
down.
6. Text Display
Area for displaying station names, frequencies or menu options.

Batteries Power
1. Open the battery door and insert 2 batteries, type AAA
with the correct polarity as indicated by the “+” and “–”
symbols inside the compartment.
2. Replace the battery door making sure the batteries are
rmly and correctly in place. The unit is now ready to
use.

Knowing When to Replace the Batteries
• When the batteries lose power, the sound becomes
weak and distorted.
• When “
appears, replace all the batteries with new
ones.

Connections
Using Earphones
Turn down the volume before
connecting earphones. Slowly raise
the volume with the earphones on
until you reach your desired level.
Handling the Battery
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or
battery leakage, which could cause re, personal injury or damage
to property.
• Install the battery correctly by following the polarity (+ and –)
indications in the battery compartment.
• Use only the battery type indicated in this manual.
• Do not mix dierent types of batteries together (e.g. alkaline,
rechargeable and standard (carbon zine)) or old batteries with
fresh ones.
• Do not dispose of the used battery as domestic waste. Dispose of it
in accordance with local regulations.
• If you are not going to use the unit for a long time, remove the
batteries to avoid damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is
best to avoid extreme volume when using earphones, especially for
extended periods of time.

General Operation
Powering ON/OFF
Press and hold to turn the unit on and o.
When you power up the unit again, the unit plays the same mode and
station (DAB or FM) as the last operation.
Adjusting the Volume
• Press +/– to adjust the volume. The volume display will
change to indicate the level set.
• Press
to mute the sound. The indicator will ash
on the display. Press again or + to resume the audio
listening.
Selecting Modes
Press and hold M to switch between DAB and FM modes.
Lock
The Lock? option enables you to lock the control against
accidental operation.
1. Press M to display the menu.
2. Press
to select <LOCK?>, and then press to select.
3. Press
to select <YES>, and then press to select.
Locked will display on the screen when a button is
pressed.

4. To unlock, press M to display the menu.

to select <NO>, and then press to select.
Adjusting the Contrast
1. Press M to display the menu.
2. Press
to select <CONTRAST>, and then press to
select.
3. Press
to adjust the contrast level. The level will show
on the display.
4. Press the
button to conrm.
Adjusting the Brightness
1. Press M to display the menu.
2. Press
to select <BRIGHT>, and then press to
select.
3. Press
repeatedly to select brightness level.
4. Press the
button to conrm.
Adjusting the Backlight
The Backlight option enables you to set the switch-o
delay for the backlight after a key-press.
1. Press M to display the menu.
2. Press
to select <BACKLIGHT>, and then press to
select.

3. Press repeatedly to set the display backlight switch-
o delay to 1, 5 or 10 seconds. The “No Light option
disables the backlight. Reducing the delay will save
battery power.
4. Press the
button to conrm.
Factory Reset
There may be times when you need to reset your unit back
to the factory settings especially when you have moved
house. If you experience reception problems you may want
to reset and try again. If you move to another part of the
country and pick up the local and national DAB stations in
that area, your previously tuned channels may no longer
be available.

to select <RESET>, and then press to select.
3. Press
to select <YES>, and then press to conrm.

DAB Operation
If the unit is switched on for the rst time, the unit will
automatically start scanning in DAB mode. The display will
show “Scanning…”.
All the stations that have been found will be stored
automatically. To explore the found stations, press
.
Before starting a scan, ensure that the earphones are connected to
the unit and in the listening position as the earphone cable is used
as the aerial.
DAB Scan
1. Press M to display the menu.
2. Press
to select <DAB SCAN>, and then press to
select.
3. The unit will start a full scan to search all available Band
III channels
Adjusting the Sound Eect
1. Press M to display the menu.
2. Press
to select <DAB EQ>, and then press to
select.
3. Press
to select the sound eect modes.
4. Press the
button to conrm.
The DAB EQ setting does not aect FM mode.

FM Operation
Press and hold M to select FM mode.
Before starting a scan, ensure that the earphones are connected to
the unit and in the listening position as the earphone cable is used
as the aerial.
FM Scan
1. Press M to display the menu.
2. Press
to select <FM SCAN>, and then press to
select.
3. The unit will scan each channel for stations. If stations
are found, all tuned stations will be marked as favourite
stations.

to skip to the previous or next favourite
station. To disable favourite tuning, press . will
disappear from the screen. To resume favourite tuning,
press and .
Auto Scan
Press and hold until the tuner starts searching for a
station. Once a station has been found, the scanning will
stop automatically.
The search may not stop at a station with a very weak signal.

Manual Scan
Press repeatedly until your desired frequency is
reached.
With FM radio it may be necessary to ne tune each station by
pressing repeatedly. Each press will adjust the frequency by
0.05MHz. If reception is still poor adjust the position of the aerial
(earphones) or try moving the radio to another location.

1. Press M to display the menu.

to select <RDS>, and then press to select.
3. Press

Favourite Stations
Saving a Radio Station
1. You must rst tune to the station that you would like to
save. Press and hold .
2. The station will be saved as a favourite and the display
will show
when you tune to this station.
Recalling a Favourite Station
1. Once you have saved a station as one of the favourite
stations, you can recall it by pressing
and . The
display will show the favourite station and .
2. To disable favourite tuning, press
. will disappear
from the screen.
Clearing Favourite Stations
Tune to the station that you want to clear. Press and hold
to clear the favourite station.
The station will be cleared from the memory and the
display will no longer indicate
when you tune to this
station.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Unit
• To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist,
lint-free cloth.
• Do not use any cleaning uids containing alcohol,
ammonia or abrasives.
• Do not spray aerosol at or near the unit.

Hints and Tips
If a problem occurs, it may often be due to something very
minor. The following table contains various tips:

No Sound Adjust the volume.
Static Sound Signal reception is too low. Adjust the
aerial (earphones) or move the unit to a
stronger signal location.
Sound is distorted Volume is too high. Adjust the volume.
Desired station not
found
Weak signal. Search manually.
No coverage in your area
or poor reception
Adjust the position of the aerial
(earphones).
The display is blank This may occur if the broadcaster
changes the label of a service or
removes a label while tuned. The unit
will try to re-tune or perform a scan.
