Safety Warnings

• Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for
future reference.
• Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a third party make sure to
include this manual.
• Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains
voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any doubt about it working
normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch o, withdraw the mains plug
and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable surface and should not be subjected
to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall
o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily
accessible.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit
well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas/electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked ame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or product damage, do not expose
this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects lled with
liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it o
at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or re hazard due to overheating, ensure
that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.
• Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another
conned space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting/
disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm.
Mains Adapter Cable
• Make sure the unit is not resting on top of the mains adapter cable, as the
weight of the unit may damage the cable and create a safety hazard.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause
electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely aect the
operating performance of the unit, and cause a distorted picture or sound.
Mains Adapter
• The mains adapter will continue to draw electricity from the mains supply
when plugged in the mains socket. In the interests of safety and to avoid
unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the adaptor plugged in the
mains socket while unattended for long periods of time. Disconnect the
adaptor from the power supply.
• Only use the supplied mains adapter
Earphones
• Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods of time may permanently
damage your hearing.
• Before putting on earphones, turn the volume down then put the
earphones on and slowly increase the volume until you reach a comfortable
listening level.
Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit
and the remote control.
• Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or
any other openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock.

Service
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. The unit does
not contain any user-serviceable parts. Please leave all maintenance work
to qualied personnel.

Maintenance
• Ensure to unplug the unit from the power supply before cleaning.
• Do not use any type of abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning solutions as these
may damage the unit’s surface.

Power Source
Mains Power
• This unit is designed to operate with an
DC 12V 1.5A power supply.
• Unwind the cable to its full length.
Connect the end of the cable to the DC
IN Socket at the rear of the unit then
connect the mains adapter to the mains
socket. Make sure the mains adapter is
rmly inserted into the mains socket.
The unit is now connected and ready to
use.
• To switch the unit o completely,
remove the mains Adapter from the
mains socket.
DC IN
Ensure all connections are connected before
connecting to the mains power socket.
Battery Power
1. Connect the mains adapter to the DC IN socket on the unit. Connect the other end to
the mains socket.
2. Battery will automatically start charging whilst in STANDBY mode, the BATTERY
CHARGE indicator will ash green. When the battery is charged to full capacity, the
BATTERY CHARGE indicator will illuminate green.
3. Remove the mains adapter. The battery is now ready for use.
• The battery is partially charged at shipment. Charge the battery to full for the rst time use. It
takes about 12 hours at fully charged.
• When the radio is connected to the mains and in use, the battery will be recharged but at a much
slower rate.
• Do not disconnect the mains power adapter during charging.
• It is normal for the battery to become warm during charging.
• Do not use the battery under high temperature or near heat sources.
• During battery operation, if the battery becomes at, the “Battery Charge” indicator will ash red,
you should change to AC operation and recharge the battery.
During battery operation, the button will work as a POWER ON/OFF button. The display will be
totally o when the radio is powered o. The display backlight will be dimmed in few seconds after
radio power on, and it will be turned to full brightness for 5 seconds on every button press.

Connections
Using Earphones
Turn down the volume before connecting the
earphones. Slowly raise the volume with the
earphones on until you reach your desired volume.
When earphones are connected, the speaker is
automatically disabled.
Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing
damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when using
earphones, especially for extended periods of time.

Basic Operation
Powering ON/OFF
When you rst connect the unit to the mains socket, the unit will be in STANDBY mode and
the display will rst show the greeting message and then nally the clock.
• Press the
button to switch the unit on.
• Press the
button to switch the unit back to standby mode.
• Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit o
completely.
Selecting Modes
Press the MODE button repeatedly to switch between modes (DAB or FM).
Adjusting the Volume
Press the VOL +/– buttons to adjust the volume.
Setting the Clock
The clock can only set and be updated if you can receive DAB signals in your location. In
order for the clock to synchronise to the current local time you must leave it on one DAB
station for a short period of time. Manual clock setting is not available.
Setting the Alarm (AC Operation Only)
Make sure you have preset FM and DAB stations before setting the Alarm, if you want to
wake up to DAB or FM radio.
1. Press and hold the ALARM/SNOOZE button to set
the alarm. The display will show Alarm Setting
and the hour digits will ash.
2. Turn the SCROLL dial to adjust the hour digits and
then press the OK dial to conrm.
3. The minute digits will ash. Turn the SCROLL dial to
adjust the minute digits and then press the OK dial
to conrm.
4. Turn the SCROLL dial to select from one of the 1-10
DAB preset stations. Press the OK dial to conrm.
5. Turn the SCROLL dial to select from one of the 1-10
FM preset stations. Press the OK dial to conrm.
6. Turn the SCROLL dial to select either Buzzer tone 1 or 2. Press the OK dial to conrm.
7. Turn the SCROLL dial to select the radio wake up volume level from 1-20. Press the OK
dial to conrm.

Activating the Alarm Function (AC Operation Only)
1. To activate the alarm function, repeatedly press the ALARM/SNOOZE button. The
alarm wake-up modes will be displayed and change in the below sequence on every
press:
Alarm Off DAB Preset # FM Preset # Buzzer Tone #
2. When the display shows your desired alarm wake-up mode, stop pressing the ALARM/
SNOOZE button. The alarm function is now activated and an alarm icon will be
displayed.
3. When the alarm time arrives, the selected wake-up mode will be on and the alarm icon
in the display will ash to indicate that the alarm is triggered. To stop the alarm sooner,
press the
button.
4. To check the alarm status, press the ALARM/SNOOZE button. The alarm status will
show on the display.
• If you have activated the alarm function and the wake-up mode is DAB or FM, make sure that the
volume is at a sucient level for you to hear.
• If the wake-up mode is DAB and the DAB signal strength is low, the buzzer alarm will be triggered.
Automatic Alarm Repeat (AC Operation Only)
The alarm will automatically repeat each day at the selected time as long as the alarm icon
is displayed. To cancel this function, repeatedly press the ALARM/SNOOZE button until
Alarm O shows on the display.
Snooze Function (AC Operation Only)
When the alarm has triggered, press the ALARM/SNOOZE button to temporarily switch
o the alarm for 5 minutes. The display will show z to indicate that snooze is on. Snooze
function will continue for 1 hour from the set alarm time.
To cancel snooze mode press standby to turn unit on then turn radio o. Alarm will be
ready for the following day.
Sleep Function (AC Operation Only)
This function allows you to program the unit to turn to standby mode by itself after a set
period of time.
1. To activate the sleep function, press the SLEEP button repeatedly and the Sleep Timer
shows on the display. The time will change in the below sequence on every press:

2. When your desired sleep time appears in the display, stop pressing the button and the
sleep function will be activated in two seconds. s”will be displayed on the display.
3. When the sleep time counts to zero, the unit will turn to standby mode. To put the
sleep function o while the sleep timer is still counting down, press the SLEEP button
once, “s”will disappear from the display.
4. Press the INFO button repeatedly to show the sleep timer status on the display when
it is turned on.

Display Backlight Level Adjustment (AC Operation Only)
There are four backlight levels for you to select from in Standby and On mode individually.
To set the backlight, press the BACKLIGHT button repeatedly and the brightness of the
display will change in the below sequence on every press:
Backlight o > Backlight 01 > Backlight 02 > Backlight 03 > Backlight o >……
During standby mode, the backlight will be turned on to full brightness for 5 seconds on
every key press.
The display backlight level is defaulted to “Backlight 01” in AC standby and
“Backlight 03” during operation.
System Reset
There may be times when you need to reset your unit back to the factory settings especially
when you have moved house. If you experience reception problems you may want to reset
and try again. If you move to another part of the country and pick up the local and national
DAB stations in that area, your previously tuned channels may no longer be available.
1. Press and hold the MENU button until the Press SELECT to conrm reset shows on
the display.
2. Press the OK dial to start the system reset, Restarting… will show on the display.
After the reset is complete, the unit will go to standby mode.
3. Press the
button again to turn the unit on, the unit will then start scanning for DAB
channels immediately.
After the system reset, all the tuned stations, DAB & FM preset stations and
alarm settings will be erased.
Software Version
1. Press and hold the INFO button for 2 seconds and then release it to view the software
version of this unit.
2. The software version will automatically disappear after 5 seconds.

1. To activate auto scan, rst press the MENU button
to enter into the Tune Select Menu. Then turn
the SCROLL dial to select Autoscan”, and then
press the OK dial to conrm. The display will show
“Scanning … and a progressing slide bar. This may
take a few minutes, depending on the number of
stations found.
2. All the stations that have been found will be
stored automatically. To explore the found
stations, turn the SCROLL dial. Press the OK dial
to conrm.
DAB Auto Scan
The auto scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has nished,
the rst alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.
DAB Operation
If the unit is connected to the mains power and then
switched on from standby for the rst time, the unit will
automatically enter into the DAB mode and perform
auto scan function. During the scan the LCD display
will show “Scanning… together with a slide bar that
indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of
stations that have been found so far.
Once the scan has nished, the unit will select the rst
alphanumerically found station. Explore the found
stations by turning the SCROLL dial. When you nd a
station that you would like to listen to, press the OK
dial.
Full auto scan will not replace the DAB stations in memory. If you want to
remove all the previously scanned stations, a system reset is required.
If there is no stations found after auto scan, the radio will then enter
into the Tune Select Menu, you can now turn the SCROLL dial then
press OK dial to select “Manual tune” or Autoscan” for stations.

Secondary Services
You may see a > symbol after the name of the primary station whilst exploring the found
stations by turning the SCROLL dial. This indicates that there are secondary services
available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are related
to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The
secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, turn the SCROLL dial repeatedly until you nd the
secondary service and press the OK dial to conrm. When the secondary service ends, the
unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.
Manual Tuning
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help you
when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.
1. Press the MENU button and then press the OK dial
to select Manual tune, the display will now show
Manual tune.
2. Turn the SCROLL dial to cycle through the DAB
channels, which are numbered from 5A to 13F.
3. After your desired channel number is selected,
press the OK dial to conrm, the top line will now
display the channel number, the frequency and
the multiplex name. The bottom line will display
the signal strength.
4. Press the OK dial to listen to this channel or turn
the SCROLL dial to continue manual tuning.

Presetting Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite 10 DAB stations to the memory. This will enable you
to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must rst be listening to
the station that you would like to save, press and
hold the MEMORY button. The display will show
Empty Preset 1, and the preset number will
ash.
2. Turn the SCROLL dial to select your desired
station preset number.
3. Press the OK dial to conrm your station, the
display will show Preset # saved“.
Recalling a Preset Station
1. Once you have saved a station, you can recall it by
pressing the MEMORY button, and then turn the
SCROLL dial to select your desired preset number,
then press the OK dial to conrm.
2. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a
station, “Preset # empty“ will be displayed.

DAB Display Modes
The station name will be displayed on the top line of the LCD display.
Every time you press the INFO button, the bottom line of the display will cycle through the
following display modes: Time/Date, Frequency, Audio Bit Rate, Signal Strength, DLS,
Prgramme Type, Ensemble/Multiplex.
Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock
and date information automatically so theres
no need to manually set this information. In the
unlikely event that the broadcaster does not
transmit any clock information, the display will
show “<TIME/DATE> ”.
Frequency
The frequency of the present station will be
displayed, such as “11C 220.352MHz.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the radio mode (DAB
or DAB+) and the digital audio bit rate being
received.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate
the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the
longer the bar will be from left to right.
DLS
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message
that the broadcaster may include with their
transmissions. The message usually includes
information, such as programme details etc.
Programme Type
This describes the Style or “genre of music
that is being broadcast e.g. Rock or “Classical”.
If the information is not available, the display
will show <Programme Type>.
Ensemble/Multiplex (Group name)
A Ensemble/multiplex is a collection of radio
stations that are bundled and transmitted on
one frequency. There are national and local
multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are
specic to that area.

FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
To switch the unit from DAB to FM mode, press the MODE button once. The top line of the
display will show FM and the frequency or the station name if a RDS station is tuned in.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, press and hold the
OK dial to start the auto scan. The display will
show “Searching ... >. or “Searching ... <.. Once
a station has been found, the scanning will stop
automatically.
Manual Scan
To search for FM stations manually, turn the SCROLL dial until your desired frequency is
reached.
Audio Mode
Press the OK dial to toggle between the Auto or Mono audio mode.
• The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode, when auto mode is
selected but you can override this and switch this function manually by changing it to
mono mode. This is helpful when receiving poor signal reception.
• During stereo reception, the received L/R stereo sound will be automatically combined to
one single channel to suit the single speaker design of this radio.
Presetting Stations

Radio Text
As with DAB, the broadcaster can include a
scrolling text that displays information about
the current program. If Radio text information is
not available, then the display will show <Radio
Text>.
Frequency
This shows the frequency of the current station.
If the information is not available, the display
will show <Name>.
Program Type
This describes the Style or “genre of music
that is being broadcast e.g. Rock or “Classical”.
If the information is not available, the display
will show <Program Type>.
Time/Date
The DAB broadcaster (Radio station) provides
clock and date information automatically so
theres no need to manually set this information.
In the unlikely event that the broadcaster does
not transmit any clock information, the display
will show the incorrect time and date.
Radio Text

FM Display Modes
Every time you press the INFO button, the display will cycle through the following display
modes: Radio Text, Frequency, Program Type, Time/Date.
Recalling a Preset Station
1. Once you have saved a station, you can recall it by
pressing the MEMORY button, and then turn the
SCROLL dial to select your desired preset number,
then press the OK dial to conrm.
2. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a
station, “Preset # empty“ will be displayed.

Hints and Tips
If a problem does occur, it may often be due to something very minor. The following table
contains various tips.
Problem Solution
No Sound Adjust the volume control, it may not be turned up.
Static Sound Signal reception too low. Adjust the aerial or move the unit to
a stronger signal location.
Sound is distorted Volume is too high. Adjust the volume control.
Desired station not found Weak signal. Re-position the aerial and try again or use the
Manual Tune function.
The display shows “DAB”
and “Manual Tune” after
auto scanning
No DAB coverage in your area or poor reception. Adjust the
position of the aerial.
Poor reception. Adjust the position of the aerial.
The display is blank This may occur if the broadcaster changes the label of a
service or removes a label while tuned. The unit will try to
retune or perform a scan.
• To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
• Do not use any cleaning uids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.
• Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.
Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains socket before cleaning.
If the unit is not working properly disconnect the power source and then reconnect it.
