Read all the instructions carefully before using
the unit and keep them for future reference.
Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a
third party make sure to include this manual.
Check that the voltage marked on the rating
label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
Please inspect the unit for damage after
unpacking.
Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in
any doubt about it working normally, or if it is
damaged in any way - switch o, withdraw the
mains plug and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
The unit must be placed on a at stable surface
and should not be subjected to vibrations.
Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable
surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
The mains socket must be located near the unit
and should be easily accessible.
Temperature
Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either
hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat
sources such as radiators or gas/electric res.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other
sources of heat.
Naked Flames
Never place any type of candle or naked ame
on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or
product damage, do not expose this unit to
rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects
lled with liquids, such as vases, should be
placed on the unit.
If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause
serious damage. Switch it o at the mains
immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and
consult your dealer.
Ventilation
To prevent the risk of electric shock or re
hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains
and other materials do not obstruct the
ventilation vents.
Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase,
built-in cabinet or in another conned space.
Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
Always disconnect the unit from the mains
supply before connecting/ disconnecting other
devices or moving the unit.
Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a
lightning storm.

Make sure the unit is not resting on top of the
mains cable, as the weight of the unit may
damage the cable and create a safety hazard.

Do not place the unit on or near appliances

picture or sound.
Supervision
Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the unit.
Never let anyone especially children push

openings in the case - this could result in a fatal

Ensure to unplug the unit from the power

Do not use any type of abrasive pad or abrasive

Connections
Mains Power
Connecting the unit to any other power source may damage the
unit. Unwind the mains cable to its full length. Connect the mains
plug to a mains socket. Make sure the mains plug is fully inserted
into the mains socket. The unit is now connected and ready to use.
To switch the unit o completely, remove the mains plug from the
mains socket.

Basic Operation
Powering ON/OFF
When you rst connect the unit to the mains socket, the unit will be in
STANDBY mode and the standby indicator will light up red.
Press the STANDBY/ON button to switch the unit on. The standby
indicator will light o.
Press the STANDBY/ON button to switch the unit back to the
STANDBY mode.
Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket if you want to
switch the unit o completely.
Selecting Modes
Press the FUNCTION button to switch between DAB, FM and iPod
modes.
If no iPhone/iPod docked during iPod mode, the unit will
automatically switch to STANDBY mode in about 15 minutes.
While in iPod mode with iPhone/iPod docked, the unit will
automatically switch to STANDBY mode in about 4 hours. AUTO
OFF” will ash on the display 10 minutes before switching to
STANDBY mode. You can reset the 4-hour countdown by pressing
the SNOOZE button while AUTO OFF” is ashing.
Adjusting the Volume
Press the VOLUME +/– buttons to adjust the volume.
Auto Setting the Clock
When you rst turn on your radio it will automatically set the time by
searching for the DAB signal. It will continue to search for the time while
in DAB mode until it has managed to set the time.

Setting the Alarm and Wake-up Mode
The alarm can be set in either standby mode or during operation.
1. Press the AL. SET/OFF

to conrm.
3. Press the PRESET/ARROW
buttons to select Alarm Type (BEEP,
iPod, FM, DAB), and then press the
SELECT button to conrm.
4. Press the PRESET/ARROW
buttons to select Alarm time (hour
and minute digits), and then press
the SELECT button to conrm.
5. The alarm function is now ready for
you to activate.
Manually Setting the Clock
Connect the unit to the mains socket. The unit will be in STANDBY
mode, and the display will show “00 : 00 : 00”.
1. During STANDBY mode, press the
SLEEP/CLOCK button until “Clock
Time Set” shows on the display and
the year digits ash.
2. Adjust the year / month / date /
hour / minute digits in order by
pressing the PRESET/ARROW
buttons, and then press SELECT
button to conrm. The clock
setting is now complete.

The alarm will automatically repeat each day at the selected time as

Snooze Function
When the alarm has triggered, press the SNOOZE/DIMMER button to
temporarily switch o the alarm for 9 minutes. Z# will ash on the
display to indicate that snooze is on and # is the number of minutes
remaining until the alarm sounds again.
To cancel the snooze function, press the AL. SET/OFF

Sleep Function
1. To activate the sleep function,
in the power on mode, press the
SLEEP/CLOCK button, Sleep
Timer will show on the display.
The time will change in the below
sequence on every press:

2. When your desired sleep time appears in the display, the sleep
function will be activated in two seconds. S# will be displayed,
where “#” indicates the number of minutes remaining until the
unit goes into standby.
3. When the sleep time counts down to zero, the unit will switch o.
To turn o the sleep function while the sleep timer is still counting
down, press the SLEEP button repeatedly until OFF shows on
the display.

System Reset
There may be times when you need to reset your unit to the factory
settings especially when you have moved house. If you experience
reception problems you may want to reset and try again. If you move
to another part of the country and pick up the local and national DAB
stations in that area, your previously tuned channels may no longer be
available.
1. Press and hold the FUNCTION button until the Press Enter Key
to Reset shows on the display.
2. Press the SELECT button to start the system reset, System reset
OK will show on the display. After the reset is complete, the unit
will start scanning for DAB channels immediately.
After the system reset, all the tuned stations, DAB & FM preset stations
and alarm settings will be erased.
Dimmer Control
In STANDBY mode, if the unit display is too bright in a dark
environment, press the SNOOZE/DIMMER button to adjust the
brightness level.

DAB Operation
If the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from
standby for the rst time, the unit will automatically enter the DAB
mode and perform the auto scan function. During the scan the display
will show “Searching … together with a slide bar that indicates the
progress of the scan and the amount of stations that have been found
so far.
Once the scan has nished, the unit will select the rst alphanumerically
found station. To explore the found stations, press the SKIP/TUNE
buttons. When you nd a station that you would like to listen to, press
the SELECT button.
DAB Auto Scan
The auto scan will search for all DAB Band III channels. After the
scan has nished, the rst alphanumerically found station will be
automatically selected.
1. To activate auto scan, press the
SCAN/ button once, the display
will show “Autotune Full Scan and a progression slide bar and
Searching …”.
2. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically.
To explore and select the found stations, press the SKIP/TUNE
buttons.
Secondary Services
You may see a > symbol after the name of the station, this indicates
that there are secondary services available to that station. These
secondary services contain extra services that are related to the
primary station, e.g. a sports station may add extra commentaries. The
secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the
station list.
To select the secondary station, press the SELECT button when the
> appears in the display after the station name. When the secondary
service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary
station.

Manual Tuning
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver.
This can help you when aligning your aerial or when adding stations
that were missed while auto tuning.
1. Press and hold the SELECT button to select Manual tune, the
display will now show Manual tune.
2. Press the SKIP/TUNE
buttons to cycle through the DAB
channels, which are numbered from 5A to 13F.
3. After your desired channel number is selected, press the SELECT
button to enter the current multiplex, the top line will now display
the rst station in the multiplex.
4. Press the SKIP/TUNE
buttons and then the SELECT button
to select a station that you would like to listen to.
Presetting Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This
will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must rst be listening to the station that
you would like to save. Press the PRESET button. The “PRESET#
<EMPTY> will show on the display.
2. Press the PRESET/ARROW
buttons to select your desired
preset station number and then press and hold the PRESET
button to conrm.
3. The station will be stored and the screen will then show Preset #
Stored“.
Recalling a Preset Station
1. Once you have saved a station to one of the preset buttons, you
can recall it by pressing the PRESET button.
2. Next, press the PRESET/ARROW
buttons to select your
desired preset station number.
3. Press the PRESET button to conrm the selection.
4. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station,
Preset# <EMPTY>“ will be displayed.

Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio
stations that are bundled and
transmitted on one frequency.
There are national and local
multiplexes. Local ones contain
stations that are specic to that
area.
DAB – unlike normal radio, groups
together several radio stations and
transmits them on one frequency.
Frequency
The frequency of the present
station will be displayed.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the digital
audio bit rate being received.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar
to indicate the signal strength, the
stronger the signal. The longer the
bar will be from left to right.
Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station)
provides time and date information
automatically so theres no need to
manually set this information.
Display Modes
Every time you press the INFO/MENU button, the display will cycle
through the following display modes: Ensemble/Multiplex (Group
name), Frequency, Audio Bit Rate, Signal Strength, Time/Date, DLS,
Programme Type.
The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.

DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a
scrolling message that the
broadcaster may include with
their transmissions. The message
usually includes information such
as program details, etc.
Programme Type
This describes the style of
the programme that is being
broadcast. If the information is
not available, the display will
show “<Programme Type>”.

FM Operation
Switching to FM Mode
To switch the unit to FM mode, press the FUNCTION button repeatedly
until “Switching to FM is displayed. The display will show FM and the
frequency.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, press and hold the SCAN/ button to start
the auto scan. Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop
automatically.
Manual Scan
To search for FM stations manually, press the SKIP/TUNE buttons
repeatedly until your desired frequency is reached.
Presetting Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This

Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to
indicate the signal strength, the stronger
the signal. The longer the bar will be
from left to right.
Frequency
This shows the frequency of the current
station.
Display Modes
Every time you press the INFO/MENU button, the display will cycle
through the following display modes: Signal Strength, Frequency.

iPod Operation
Inserting to your iPod / iPhone
1. During ON mode, press the FUNCTION button
repeatedly to select iPod mode. If there is no
iPod/ iPhone connected, “iPod Disconnected”
will show on the display.
2. If requested, insert the Universal iPod dock
adapter (not included) into the iPod dock until it
sits rmly in place.
3. Carefully slot your iPod / iPhone onto the iPod / iPhone dock.
4. If the iPod / iPhone is connected, the unit will start playback (it will
take around 10 seconds for the unit to identify the iPod / iPhone).
The iPod / iPhone battery will start charging automatically.
5. Select your desired music and play as usual from the connected
iPod / iPhone as usual.
6. Press the SCAN/
button to start / pause playback.
7. Press the SKIP/TUNE
buttons on the remote control to
select the previous or next song.
8. Press the SELECT button and INFO/MENU buttons to navigate
forwards and backwards through iPod / iPhone menus.
9. Press the PRESET/ARROW
buttons to select the iPod / iPhone
menu and then press the SELECT button on the remote control to
enter the selected menu.
Charging Your iPod / iPhone
1. Your iPod / iPhone has an internal non-removable battery, the
battery may need to be charged if it has not been used for a while.
2. You can automatically charge the iPod / iPhone through the unit
when it is docked.
If you charge the iPod / iPhone while playing music, it may take longer.
At any time, you can control the iPod / iPhone player using the unit or
iPod / iPhone player itself while the unit is in iPod mode.
The unit supports most generations of the iPod. Check your particular
model for the iPod generation supported.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Unit
Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains socket before
cleaning.
To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
Do not use any cleaning uids containing alcohol, ammonia or
abrasives.
Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.
Hints and Tips
If a problem does occur, it may often be due to something very minor.
The following table contains various tips.
