ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
IMPORTANT:
• Observe all governing codes and ordinances.
• Itisthecustomer’sresponsibility:
o Tocontactaqualiedelectricalinstaller.
o To assure that the electrical installation is adequate and in conformance with National Electrical Code,
ANSI/NFPA70 latest edition* and all local codes and ordinances.
• Ifcodespermitandaseparategroundwireisused,itisrecommendedthataqualiedelectriciandeterminethat
the ground path is adequate.
• Do not ground to a gas pipe.
• Checkwithaqualiedelectricianifyouarenotsurethattherangehoodisproperlygrounded.
• Do not have a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit.
• Save installation instructions for electrical inspector’s use.
• The range hood must be connected with copper wire only.
• Therangehoodshouldbeconnecteddirectlytothefuseddisconnect(orcircuitbreaker)boxthroughmetalelectrical
conduit.
• WiresizesmustconformtotherequirementsoftheNationalElectricalCodeANSI/NFPA70latestedition*and
all local codes and ordinances.
• U.L.(underwrittersLaboratories)listedconduitconnectormustbeprovidedateachendofthepowersupplyconduit
(attherangehoodandatthejunctionbox).

Electric requirements
• Theseventhoodsmustbepowersupplied120V,60Hz,andconnectedtoanindividual,properlygroundedbranch
circuit, and protected by 15 or 20 Amps circuit breaker or fuse.
• Wiring must be two wire with ground.
• If the electrical supply does not meet above requirements, call a licensed electrician before proceeding.
• Routehousewiringasclosetotheinstallationlocationaspossible,intheceilingorbackwall.
• The hood must be connected to the house wiring in accordance with the local codes.
CAUTION: This appliance should be properly grounded.
Before installing the hood
• Forthemostefcientairowexhaust,useastraightrunorasfewelbowsaspossible.
CAUTION: Vent unit to outside of building only.
• At least two people are needed for installation.
• Onaverageonetothreehoursarenecessarytocompleteinstallation(withoutconsideringcuttobedoneonwall
and/oroncabinet,installationducts,conduitandelectricalconnectionstothemains).
• Thehoodisttedwithscrewssuitableforwoodenwalls,consultaqualiedinstaller,checkiftheyperfectlytwith
your cabinet/wall.
• Wall fastener anchors may be required for installation to concrete wall, etc.
• Donotuseexducting.
• COLDWEATHERinstallationsshouldhaveanadditionalnonreturnvalve(Accessorynotprovidedwiththehood)
installedtominimizebackwardcoldairowandathermalbreaktominimizeconductionofoutsidetemperatures
as part of the duct work. The damper should be on the cold air side of the thermal break. The break should be as
close as possible to where the ducting enters to the heated portion of the house.
• Make up air local building codes may require the use of makeup air systems when using ducted ventilation systems
greaterthanspeciedCFMofairmovement.ConsultyourHVACprofessionalforspecicrequirementsinyour
area.

100’equivalentlengthforanyductcongurations.

Back to back elbows and “S“ turns give very poor delivery and are not recommended.
• A short straight length of duct at the inlet of the remote blower gives the best delivery.
• Referto“DuctFittings”charttocomputethemaximumpermissiblelengthforductrunstotheoutdoors.
• Installawallcapwithdamperorroofcapattheexterioropening.Orderthewallorroofcapandanytransition
needed in advance.
• Use 8" round metal ductwork only.
Wall framing for adequate support
• This vent hood is heavy. Adequate structure and support must be provided in all types of installations. If
mountedondrywall,thehoodmustbesecuretoverticalstudsinthewall,ortoahorizontalsupport.
• Theventhoodshouldbeonsitebeforenalframingandwallnishing.Thiswillhelptoaccuratelylocatethe
duct work and electrical service.
• Installation will be easier if the vent hood is installed before the cook-top and countertop are installed.

Theventhoodmustbeinstalledabovethecookingsurfaceat30"(minimum)ifagasrangeisusedorfrom24"
(minimum)to30"ifanelectricrangeisused.
The hood may be installed onto a wall and vented to the outdoors, or it can be installed for recirculating operation
(recirculatingaccessoriesnotsuppliedwiththehood).
This hood must not be installed over any professional cooktop / range.
1. Choosing the vent options
The hood design is ready to be used for vertical discharge as shown below.

Install framing for hood support
Warning: This installation instruction is not prepared for

• If drywall is present, mark the screw hole locations.
Refertoductworkinstallationguidelines.
• Cutawayenoughdrywalltoexpose2verticalstudsat
the holes location indicated by the template.
Install three horizontal supports at least 4" X 2"
between three wall studs at the bottom mounting holes
installation location.
The horizontalsupport must be ushwith the room
side of the studs.
Use cleats behind both sides of the support to secure
to wall studs.
• Reinstalldrywallandrenish.

a.Removeknock-outplateontherearsideofthehood(seealsoFigurebelow)
b.Removeandkeepthe4screws(2perside)thatxblowerontopofthehoodandrelease
it from keyholes.
c.Rotatetheblower90°andcheckthatpinsonsideblowerxingbracketstintothepreinstallingholes.
d.Fixtheblowerontherearsidewiththesame4screws(seestepb).
3. Assembly of the 8” Transition:
The transition supplied with the hood mounts to the top or rear of the hood.
Note-CabinetinstallationwithverticaldischargeONLY:donotinstalltransitionuntilhoodhasbeenxedon
cabinet.
a. Place the transition piece over the hood
exhaustandsecurewith4screwsprovided(Figurebelow).
b. Duct tape connection between transition and hood.

4.Afterthehoodinstallationheighthasbeendetermineddrawahorizontallineatadistanceabovethecooktopequaltothe
desiredhoodinstallationheightplus10”.
5.Findthecenterlineofthecooktop.Drawaverticallinealongthiscenterlineuptothehorizontallinedrawninstep1and
drawaverticallinerightandleftatadistanceof11-59/64"(for36"model)or8-15/16”(for30"model)todeterminethe
mounting location of the mounting hooks shipped with the hood.
6. Fit two mounting hooks on the wall to hang the hood through the provided slots
(2hooks+2screws5x35).
7.Run8”Duct,longenoughtoreachthetransitiononcethehoodhasbeeninstalledplus
11/2”inchtoconnectductwork.FixDucttotransitionwithscrewsandsealwithtape.
8.Remove1of2knockoutsandinstall1/2”conduitconnectorinj-box.
9. Hang the hood and adjust its position through the screws on the hooks.
10.Fixthehoodto4additionalpoint,2onupperside,2onlowerside(use4washers+4screws5x35.
Cabinet Installation:
4. Find the centerline of the cabinet bottom. Draw a line along this centerline from rear to front of the cabinet.
5.Drawtwolines,oneataKdistancefromthewall,theotheroneataZdistancefromthepreviousline.
Mark 4 points , two along each line at a distance of half W from the center line, to determine the screw locations.
6.Fit4screwsoncabinetbottomdonottightencompletelybutleaveaspaceofabout1/2”fromcabinetbottomsurface
and head screws.
7.Run8”Duct,longenoughtoreachthetransitiononcethehoodhasbeeninstalledplus11/2”inchforconnectductwork.
8.Remove1of2knockoutsandinstall1/2”conduitconnectorinj-box.
9. Hang the hood on screws through side slots provided on hood top.
Tighten the four screws.
Note:Ifpossiblexthehoodonthewallat4additionalpoint(2onupperside,2onlowerside).
10.From the inside of the cabinet attach the transition on upper outlet.
FixDucttotransitionandsealwithtape.

VIDED BY THE INSTALLER. WHEN HOUSE WIRING IS ALUMINUM, BE SURE TO USE U.L. APPROVED ANTI-OXI
-
DANT COMPOUND AND ALUMINUM-TO-COPPER CONNECTORS.
ELECTRICAL GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS. THIS APPLIANCE IS FITTED WITH AN ELECTRICAL JUNCTION BOX
WITH 3 WIRES, ONE OF WHICH (GREEN/YELLOW) SERVES TO GROUND THE APPLIANCE. TO PROTECT YOU
AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCK, THE GREEN AND YELLOW WIRE MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE GROUNDING
WIRE IN YOUR HOME ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND IT MUST UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES BE CUT OR REMOVED.

Use and Care Instructions
Before using your hood read this manual carefully. The information on the following pages will help you operate
andmaintainyourhoodproperly.Keepithandytoansweryourquestions.
Ifyoureceiveadamagedhoodcontactimmediatelyyourdealer(builder)thatsoldyouthehood.
To obtain service, see the consumer service pages in the back of this manual. First contact the people who serviced
yourappliance,explainwhyyouarenotpleased.Inmostcases,thiswillsolvetheproblem.Ifarenotpleased,refer

Control and features
This hood is equipped with an electronic motor and lamp control. The control is able to set 3 different fan speeds,
turn ON/OFF light and has a timer function. In the following drawing are described the main key functions.

1. Timer Key
o The default timer setting is 10 minutes, and it can be adjusted between 20 minutes and 1
minute.
o After pressing the timer key, the control enters to a timer setup mode, and user can adjust the
timercountdowntimewiththe“-”and“+”keyswithin5seconds.Thetimercanbeinitiated
immediately pressing the timer key, after setting the timer duration or pressing the timer key
twice(default10minutessetting).
o If not action occurs within 5 seconds the countdown will start.
o Duringthetimersetupthe“-”and“+”keysarededicatedtothetimerandnomotoractionwill
occur.
o Once initiated the timer, it can be cancelled by pressing the timer key again.
2. Light Key
o PresslampkeytoturnONthelight(LampstatepreviouslyOFF).
o PresslampkeytoturnOFFthelight(LampstatepreviouslyON).
3. Display
Shows the hood settings.
4. “-” Key. Speed Decrease / OFF
o This key is used to decrease the fan speed, or turn OFF the fan.
o ThefanwillturnOFFifthe“-”keyispressedandthehoodwasintherstspeed.
o Ifthefanisatsecondspeedandthe“-”keyispressed,thefanwillbesettorstspeed.

Clock programming
• Theclockcanbereprogrammedatanytimeexceptduringanactivetimedfunction.
• Theclockcanbedisplayedinatwelvehourformatandvalidclocktimesarefrom1:00to12:59.
• Theclockcanbereprogrammedpressingthe“Timer”keyfor5seconds,andafter,theclockcanbeadjusted
withthe“+”and“-”keys.Colon“:”willashindicatingclockprogrammingmode.
• Theusercanhaveminuteincrements/decrementsof1minute,butiftheuserkeeppressingthe“+”/”-”keys
for more than 1 second, the increments / decrements will be of 5 minutes. During this option the control will
round to the nearest 5 minutes.
• Theusercannishonreprogrammingtheclockpressingthe“timer”key.
After 1 minute of no key pressed the control will accept the programmed clock time and will add one minute
to the set clock.
Grease lter saturation alarm
• Afterthirtyfanfunctionalhours,thedisplaywillshow“GreaseFilter”ifthefanisactive.Whenthisiconis
showninthedisplay,thegreaseltersinstalledarerequiredtobewashed.
• Toresetthegreaseltersaturationalarmtheusermustpressthe“+”keyfor5seconds,afterthisactionthe
icon“greaselter”isnotdisplay,andthehoodhasthenormaldisplayoperation.

Heat sensor
Thecontrolisequippedwithaheatsensorthatwillturnonthebloweratsecondspeedifexcessiveheat
occurs(over70°C)surroundingthecontrolarea.
IftheblowerisOFForifitisoperatingatrstspeed,theblowerwillbesetautomaticallytosecondspeed.
During this state, the user may raise the blower speed to third speed but can not decrease the speed.
Whenthetemperaturelevelonthehooddropstonormal,theblowerwilloperateinthesettingdenedby
the user before the alarm occured.

Metal grease lter maintenance
Themetalltertrapsgreasereleasedbyfoodsonthecooktop.Theltermustalwaysbeinstalledwhenthehoodis
operating / used.
To remove:
Pushthelterlock/pivotindirectiontothecenterofthelter.
Oncethepivotispushedpulldownthelterslowly.
To replace:
Inserttheltertabsintotheslots
• Pushthelterlock/pivotindirectiontothecenterofthelter.
• Oncethepivotispushed,raisethelterslowlyuntilthetopand
release the pivot.
To clean:
• Swishthelterinhotsoapywaterandrinseinclean
water or wash it in the dish washer.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Hood maintenance
Clean with a damp, soapy cloth and dry with a clean cloth. A glass
cleaner may also be used.
ATTENTION: Do not wet the control panel.
Do not use a steel wool pad; it will scratch the surface.
To clean the stainless steel surface, use warm sudsy water, stainless
steel cleaner or polish. Always wipe the surface in the direction of the
grain. Follow the cleaner instructions for cleaning the stainless
steel surface.
