Introduction Operator Manual 920513-206
This manual contains important information on proper use and routine
maintenance of the Transfer Cart. All personnel involved in the use
and maintenance of this equipment must carefully review and com-
ply with the Safety Precautions and instructions contained in this
manual. These instructions are important to protect the health and safety
of personnel using this equipment and should be retained in a conve-
niently accessible area for quick reference.
Open the crate carefully to avoid damage to the equipment inside. If
you find any indication of damage to the equipment, no matter how
slight, show it to your supervisor.
Refer to SECTION 3, ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, for instructions in routine
care of this cart.
Advisory IMPORTANT: A listing of Safety Precautions to be observed when
uncrating, installing, testing and using this equipment can be found in
SECTION 1 of this manual. Do not begin using this equipment until you
have become familiar with this information.
IMPORTANT: Ensure to verify local occupational health and safety
regulations for any special requirements that may pertain to the instal-
lation of this cart.
Indications For Use The Transfer Cart (TC) is designed to help the operator safely load,
unload and transfer different types of accessories. The cart is
designed to be used with the following equipment:

The following Safety Precautions must be observed when uncrating/installing, operating or servicing this Transfer
Cart. WARNING indicates the potential for personal injury and CAUTION indicates the potential for damage to
equipment. For emphasis, certain Safety Precautions are repeated throughout the manual. It is important to
review ALL Safety Precautions before operating or servicing the Transfer Cart.
Strictly following these Safety Precautions enhances the Customer’s ability to safely and effectively utilize the
Transfer Cart and helps avoid improper maintenance methods which may damage the Transfer Cart or render it
unsafe. It is important to understand that these Safety Precautions are not exhaustive; Customers are encouraged
to develop their own safety policies and procedures to enhance and complement these Safety Precautions.

Maximum loading weight is 135 lb (61 kg). Do not overload cart.
Only STERIS or STERIS-trained service personnel should make repairs and/or adjustments to this
equipment. Maintenance done by inexperienced, unqualified personnel, or installation of unauthorized
parts could cause personal injury, invalidate warranty, or result in costly damage.
Always apply brakes fully on both wheels before loading or unloading baskets from cart.
Never load a basket onto a cart sideways, this can result in back injuries.
When removing bands, wear gloves and eye protection and always use a tool specifically designed to
cut bands. Bands used to secure this crate can cause personal injury when cut and tension is released.
When removing bolts, wear gloves to protect your hands.
To prevent slips, keep floors dry. Promptly clean up any spills or drippage.

CAUTION – POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE:
Use nonabrasive cleaners when cleaning cart. Follow directions on containers and rub in a back-and-
forth motion (in same direction as surface grain). Abrasive cleaners will damage stainless steel. Cleaners
rubbed in a circular motion or applied with a wire brush or steel wool can be harmful to stainless steel. Do
not use these cleaners on painted surfaces.
When removing adhesives from stainless steel, use a small amount of nonflammable cleaning solvent.
Rub in a back-and-forth motion (in same direction as surface grain). Solvents rubbed in a circular
motion or applied with a wire brush or steel wool can be harmful to stainless steel. Do not use solvents
on painted surfaces.

2.2 Loading Cart Refer to Figures 2-1 and 2-2.
1. Roll Transfer Cart to loading area.
2. Lock both rear wheels by pressing down on brakes to secure
Transfer Cart in place.
3. Ensure cart platform is flush with loading or unloading surface.
4. Carefully load baskets on cart platform while standing behind
cart.
5. Secure basket on cart with latch.
6. Unlock both cart wheels.
7. Holding handle, slowly push cart to another location.
2.3 Unloading Cart Refer to Figures 2-1 and 2-2.
1. Roll Transfer Cart to unloading area.
2. Lock both rear wheels by pressing down on brakes to secure
Transfer Cart in place.
3. Ensure cart platform is flush with loading or unloading surface.
4. Press down on latch to release basket and push basket forward
from cart platform.
5. Unlock both cart wheels.
6. Slowly push cart to another location.

3.1 Cleaning Clean Transfer Cart as follows:
1. Use a general cleaner for general stains, a stainless-steel stain
remover for stubborn stains and a stainless-steel polish to keep
equipment looking like new:
a. Using a damp cloth or sponge, apply cleaner in a back-and-
forth motion, rubbing in same direction as surface grain.
b. Thoroughly wipe off cleaner.
c. Polish surface with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
2. Clean plastic guides with a soft cloth using soap and water. Use
a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
3. Remove bottle from support under loading platform and rinse
thoroughly under running water, use a general cleaner to clean
interior and exterior, rinse and dry completely.
4. Reinstall bottle into support.

3.2 Routine
Maintenance
1. Verify top plastic slides are in good condition. Replace when
worn or broken.
2. Regularly inspect bottle under cart shelf to ensure it is empty.
Remove and clean before bottle is full.
3. Inspect wheels to ensure they roll smoothly. Align if they are mis-
aligned, replace if they are worn or if brakes are broken.
4. Verify latch is in good condition. Tighten screws if needed.
3.3 Maintenance
Procedures
3.3.1 How to Replace Wheels 1. To replace wheels, loosen locknut on wheel and unscrew wheel
threaded rod from base.
2. Remove nut from old wheel and reinstall nut on new wheel.
3. Apply red thread sealant on wheel rod threads.
4. Reinstall wheel on cart base. Verify height adjustment; adjust if
necessary.
5. Tighten top nut.
6. Repeat procedure on each wheel.
3.3.2 How to Replace Top
Plastic Slides
1. Unscrew and remove all screws retaining plastic slide to shelf.
2. Remove plastic slide from cart shelf.
3. Apply blue thread sealant to 8-32 x 1/4" screws and secure new
plastic slide to shelf.
