routine maintenance of the MIS Vision SC Manifold Rack and the
Three-Level MIS Manifold Rack. All personnel involved in the use
and routine maintenance of this equipment must carefully
review and comply with the Safety Precautions and instructions
contained in this manual.
These instructions are important to
protect the health and safety of personnel using this MIS Vision SC
Manifold Rack
to process items in the Reliance
® Vision® Single-
Chamber Washer/Disinfector and the Vision® Single-Chamber
Washer/Disinfector, and should be retained in a conveniently
accessible area for quick reference.
Advisory IMPORTANT: A listing of the Safety Precautions to be observed
when using and servicing this equipment can be found in SECTION 1
of this manual. Do not use the equipment until you have become
familiar with this information.
STERIS does not intend, recommend or represent in any way that the
MIS Vision SC Manifold Rack or the Three-Level MIS Manifold Rack
be used in the Reliance Vision Single-Chamber Washer/Disinfector
or in the Vision Single-Chamber Washer/Disinfector for the terminal
disinfection or sterilization of any regulated medical device. The MIS
Vision SC Manifold Rack is intended only to perform an initial step in
the processing of soiled, reusable medical devices in the washer/
disinfector. If medical devices will be contacting blood or
compromised tissues, such devices must be terminally processed in
accordance with Good Hospital Practices before each use in human
patients.
STERIS does not recommend processing flexible endoscopes,
single-use instruments, rigid telescopes (optical lens), fiber-optic
cables, multi-part instruments that cannot be disassembled, heat-
sensitive devices and coagulating electrodes using the MIS Vision
SC Manifold Rack or the Three-Level MIS Manifold Rack in the
washer/disinfector. Processing these types of instruments may result
in instrument or equipment damage as well as improperly cleaned
items. All items processed using the MIS Vision SC Manifold Rack or
the Three-Level MIS Manifold Rack in the washer/disinfector must
withstand temperatures of up to 240°F (116°C).
The MIS Vision SC Manifold Rack and the Three-Level MIS Manifold
Rack are specifically designed to only hold items as outlined in this
manual. If there is any doubt about a specific material or product,
contact the instrument manufacturer for recommended washing
techniques.

2.5.1 Cannulated MIS
Instruments
See Figures 2-2 and 2-6 to 2-11.
To load cannulated MIS instruments in upper section of rack,
proceed as follows:
1. Place cannulated instruments in instrument holders and on
hollow jets (see Figures 2-6 and 2-7).
IMPORTANT: When installing cannulated instruments and small
items on hollow jets, ensure to select the appropriate hollow jets
(small or large) to provide maximum coverage during the Rigid
MIS cycle.
IMPORTANT: Ensure instruments and small items are not tightly
installed on hollow jets to allow proper circulation of water.
2. Place remaining instruments in compartmented tray.

Instrument Holders and on
Hollow Jets
IMPORTANT: While single-port instruments are in instrument holders
or on hollow jets, do not connect single port of each instrument to any
tube. One port must always be left open to allow cleaning solution to
be evacuated out of instrument.
1. Connect all but one port of each multi-port instrument to rack
Luer locks as follows:
a. Retrieve flexible tubes equipped with Luer locks (see
Figure 2-2).
b. Use a small brush to manually pre-clean part of the
instrument Luer lock in contact with flexible tube connector.
c. Verify if each instrument port to be connected requires male
or female Luer lock connection (if instrument does not
require a Luer lock connection, go to Step 2).
d. Connect appropriate Luer lock extremity of tube to each
instrument port (see Figure 2-8).
e. Connect other Luer lock extremity of each tube to appropriate
Luer lock (male or female) located on rack (see Figure 2-9).
IMPORTANT: While multi-port instruments are in instrument
holders or on hollow jets, connect all but one port of multi-port
instruments to tubes. Always leave one port open to allow
cleaning solution to be evacuated out of instrument.
2. If instrument ports do not fit tubes equipped with Luer locks, use
flexible tube for multi-port instrument to connect instrument ports
as follows (see Figures 2-2 and 2-10):
IMPORTANT: While multi-port instruments are in instrument
holders or on hollow jets, connect all but one port of multi-port
instruments to tubes. Always leave one port open to allow
cleaning solution to be evacuated out of instrument.
a. Retrieve flexible tube for multi-port instrument (see Figure 2-2).
b. Connect V-shaped part of flexible tube to instrument ports
(see Figures 2-2 and 2-10).
c. Use a small brush to manually pre-clean part of the
instrument Luer lock in contact with flexible tube connector.

2.5.1.2 Instruments in
Compartmented Tray
1. Use a small brush to manually pre-clean part of the instrument
Luer lock in contact with flexible tube connector.
2. Connect each port of all instruments to flexible tubes equipped
with Luer locks (see Figure 2-2 as well as Steps 1a to 1d for
more details about connection instructions).
-- or --
If instruments ports do not fit tubes equipped with Luer locks,
connect all ports to V-shaped part of flexible tubes for multi-port
instruments (see Figure 2-2 as well as Steps 2a to 2c for more
details about connection instructions).
IMPORTANT: Each port of single or multi-port instrument is
connected to a tube if the instrument is placed in a compartmented
tray. The cleaning solution is evacuated through the extremity of the
instrument.
3. Place compartmented tray in position in upper section of rack.
4. Connect flexible tubes equipped with Luer locks to appropriate
rack Luer locks (see Figure 2-2 as well as Steps 1a to 1d for
more details about connection instructions).
-- or --
Connect flexible tubes for multi-port instruments to rack male Luer
locks (see Figure 2-2 as well as Steps 2a to 2c for more details
about connection instructions).
5. Close rack open Luer locks using Luer lock pins (see
Figure 2-11).
