Introduction Operator Manual 920513-194
This manual contains important information on proper installation, use
and routine maintenance of the Transfer Cart. All personnel involved in
the use and maintenance of this equipment must carefully review
and comply with the Safety Precautions and instructions contained
in this manual. These instructions are important to protect the health
and safety of personnel using this equipment and should be retained in
a conveniently accessible area for quick reference.
Follow each step of the uncrating, installation and operating instructions
in the order presented. Open the crate carefully to avoid damage to
the equipment inside. If you find any indication of damage to the
equipment, no matter how slight, show it to your supervisor.
Refer to SECTION 5, ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, for instructions in routine
care of this cart.
Advisory IMPORTANT: A listing of Safety Precautions to be observed when
uncrating, installing, testing and using this equipment can be found in
SECTION 1 of this manual. Do not begin using this equipment until you
have become familiar with this information.
IMPORTANT: Ensure to verify local occupational health and safety
regulations for any special requirements that may pertain to the
installation of this cart.
Intended Use The Transfer Cart is designed to help operator safely load, unload
and transfer different types of accessories. The cart is designed to
be used with the following equipment:

The following Safety Precautions must be observed when unpacking, operating or servicing this Transfer Cart.
WARNING indicates the potential for personal injury and CAUTION indicates the potential for damage to
equipment. For emphasis, certain Safety Precautions are repeated throughout the manual. It is important to
review ALL Safety Precautions before operating or servicing the Transfer Cart.
Strictly following these Safety Precautions enhances the Customer’s ability to safely and effectively utilize the
Transfer Cart and helps avoid improper maintenance methods which may damage the Transfer Cart or render it
unsafe. It is important to understand that these Safety Precautions are not exhaustive; Customers are encouraged
to develop their own safety policies and procedures to enhance and complement these Safety Precautions.
WARNING – PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD:

Maximum loading weight is 135 lb (61 kg). Do not overload cart.
Only STERIS or STERIS-trained service personnel should make repairs and/or adjustments to this
equipment. Maintenance done by inexperienced, unqualified personnel or installation of unauthorized
parts could cause personal injury, invalidate warranty or result in costly damage.
Always apply brakes fully on both wheels before loading or unloading baskets from cart.
Never load a basket onto a cart sideways, this can result in back injuries.
When moving Transfer Cart from one location to another, always push on the handle. Do not push on
platform or baskets as baskets may tip over.
When removing bolts, wear gloves to protect your hands.
To prevent slips, keep floors dry. Promptly clean up any spills or drippage.

CAUTION – POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE:
Use nonabrasive cleaners when cleaning cart. Follow directions on containers and rub in a back-and-
forth motion (in same direction as surface grain). Abrasive cleaners will damage stainless steel. Cleaners
rubbed in a circular motion or applied with a wire brush or steel wool can be harmful to stainless steel. Do
not use these cleaners on painted surfaces.
When removing adhesives from stainless steel, use a small amount of nonflammable cleaning solvent.
Rub in a back-and-forth motion (in same direction as surface grain). Solvents rubbed in a circular
motion or applied with a wire brush or steel wool can be harmful to stainless steel. Do not use solvents
on painted surfaces.

2.1 Carton Carton Dimension: L x W x H = 30 x 32 x 9" (762 x 812 x 228 mm).
1. Provide a clear work area on all sides.
2. Open carton from top (see Figure 2-1).
3. Place carton onto floor (see Figure 2-2).
4. Slide components box from carton.
5. Pull carton away from equipment. Discard carton.

3.2 Assembly
3.2.1 Base 1. Remove leg kit from box and open.
2. Remove cart base from bottom of box.
3. Insert the four legs, the largest hole toward the bottom in the cart
base (see Figure 3-1 to Figure 3-3).
4. Lean transfer cart on its side. Insert the wheels through the base
and legs (see Figure 3-4).
NOTE: Ensure to place the wheels with brakes on the same side
of base, nearest the handle.
5. Pre-adjust distance between wheels and base to 1-1/4” [32 mm]
using adjustment bolts on four wheels.

3.2.2 Bottle Support 1. Place cart shelf upside down on a flat surface.
2. Remove two wing nuts.
3. Attach bottle support under cart shelf.
4. Secure with two washers and 8-32 wing nuts.
3.2.3 Cart Shelf Assembly 1. Install the cart shelf on the legs using four 1/4" -20 x 1/2" screws.
Apply RED thread sealant on threads.
NOTE: Ensure to place the shelf handle on the same side as the
wheels with brakes.
2. Install two sliding guides (D), one on either side of cart shelf, as
indicated (see Figure 3-7). Secure using screws (B). Apply BLUE
thread sealant on screw threads.

3. For Reliance 400, Reliance 400XLS and Reliance 470
Washers: Install one sliding guide (D) on central guide (H)
using 8-32 x 3/16" screws (C). Secure assembly on cart shelf
using 8-32 x 1/4" screws (B). Apply BLUE thread sealant on
screw threads.
4. For AMSCO 3052, AMSCO 5052, Reliance 444, Reliance/Hamo
Synergy, Reliance/Hamo Vision Single-Chamber and Reliance/
Hamo Vision Multi-Chamber Washers/Disinfectors:
a. Install basket latch (A). Use a 24” x 24” basket and adjust
latch if needed. Pull the basket: it must lock into the latch.
Push down the latch to free the basket.
b. Install lateral guides (E) on either side of the shelf, using
provided screws (B).

5. Adjust shelf height depending on the washer model, as indicated
in SECTION 3.1.2, HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT:
a. Loosen locknut under each wheel.
b. Measure height from floor to top of slide located on top of
cart shelf.
c. Screw or unscrew wheel assembly to match height indicated
for your washer model.
d. Make sure swivel wheels are correctly aligned with cart
frame.
e. Using a spirit level, ensure cart is level front-to-back and left-
to-right
6. If shelf height and level are right:
Lean cart on its side;
Loosen nuts 1/4 of an inch;
Apply RED thread sealant on all wheel threads;
Make sure that wheels equipped with brakes are correctly
aligned together and parallel with the base;
Tighten nuts;
Install dripping bottle in bottle support.
This completes the assembly.

3.3 Cleanup 1. Remove all white protective plastic found on cart surfaces.
2. Discard protective plastic.
3. Inspect work area to ensure all packing material and tools used
during installation have been removed.
Transfer Cart is now ready for normal use.

4.1 Loading Cart Refer to Figures 4-1 and 4-2.
1. Roll Transfer Cart to loading area.
2. Lock both rear wheels by pressing down on brakes to secure
Transfer Cart in place.
3. Ensure cart platform is flush with loading or unloading surface.
4. Carefully load baskets on cart platform while standing behind
the cart.
5. Secure basket on cart with latch.
6. Unlock both cart wheels.
7. Holding handle, slowly push cart to another location.
IMPORTANT: Always push on the handle to move Transfer Cart
from one location to another.
4.2 Unloading Cart Refer to Figures 4-1 to 4-2.
1. Roll Transfer Cart to unloading area.
2. Lock both rear wheels by pressing down on brakes to secure
Transfer Cart in place.
3. Ensure cart platform is flush with loading or unloading surface.
4. Press down on latch to release basket and push basket forward
from cart platform.
5. Unlock both cart wheels.
6. Holding handle, slowly push cart to another location.

from one location to another.
